how 'bout trying a 6mg nic liquid if the craving returns?
So far, zero % nicotine is working fine for me. I still have 6 weeks of 15mg around that I could easily dilute if necessary. Also have lots of 25mg nicotine base in the freezer.

I've read a couple of studies about the effects of nicotine on the healing of broken bones. None list an effective minimal nicotine dosage other than describing the nicotine users as users of cigarettes, or nicotine gum or patch users. Orthopedic patients that used nicotine required 62% more time to heal than non-users.

Congratulations on getting off the nicotine and wishes for a speedy recovery. I was never as smart or as disciplined as you; I had a crush injury to my leg about 10 years ago and despite a prolonged course and multiple surgeries was never able to quit smoking (I don't think vaping had been invented yet back then). I used to wheel my wheelchair over to the side door to smoke so my wife didn't get too po'd at me, but she still hated it cause I couldn't get the chair down the step and of course the smoke would just blow back into the house. Anyway, very best wishes to you and heal strong!

I was down to 4mg when I read the preliminary results of the studies of Nicotine effects in Alzheimer's patients. There is Alzheimer's in my family. If there is even a remote possibility that nicotine can slow down the progression of Alzheimer's as the preliminary results indicate then I am going to continue to vape with nicotine. I am using 12mg and plan to stay there.

I am sorry to hear about your leg, glad to hear is healing well. I hope you will be back on both feet soon.

Wow, what a coincidence. I'm ALL too familiar with your plight, yzer! :(

I broke my leg at the beginning of June (right spiral tib/fib fracture fixed with full length rod/nail & 3 screws). I was able to not smoke/vape for at least a month; prior to the accident, I was switching back and forth. After that month or so, I had maybe a handful of analogs, but then I was able to move to vaping exclusively.

Because I'm a glutton for punishment and in denial about being an "adrenaline junky", I re-broke my right tibia at the beginning of this month, 10/6. This time, a tibial plateau fracture...been bed ridden for the past 2 1/2 weeks to allow the swelling to go down before my surgery tomorrow; the rod/nail & 3 screws need to be removed so that there's space for a new plate and screws.

I dunno how, but I've been nicotine free since the 6th. I miss vaping something fierce but have managed not to do it at all; I think the side effects of the blood thinner I've had to self-inject daily are helping.

I'mma send you a PM :thumb:

But I'm also sending good healing vibes to ya!
That is an amazing coincidence! My hat is off to you for two breaks in one year. I also have a spiral tib/fib fracture with a full length rod but only needed two screws. My doctors almost put me on the daily self-injected Lovenox but decided on Aspirin as a blood thinner instead.

Here's some good healing thoughts right back at you.

I'll check your PM next.

Staying away from nicotine for healing may be a good idea per blood circulation concerns. Vitamin D may offset some of those concerns.
From what I've read nicotine may also affect the production of stem cells for healing bone injuries. The final study is still underway but preliminary studies done eight years ago give reasons to believe that stem cells are slower to produce bone as opposed to cartilage if nicotine is present.
