Strange Soapy/Alcohol Flavor at the End of SI Vanilla Pre-Filled Cartos?

Hi all!

I've been a very busy, overwhelmed, harried, overworked, underpaid... oops. Sorry. Got carried away. It's been a long couple of weeks! Whew! I'm so far behind, I'll probably never fully catch up. There's too much SPACE here in VoltLand!

Anyway, Rob is still vaping (Yay!), and still smoking (BOO!) about 1/2 a pack a day. He's been cheifly vaping the SI Vanilla pre-fills, with jaunts into a bunch of different "tester" flavors, when his taste buds get a little bored. He has noticed, on this last set of pre-fills, that he gets an unpleasant soapy/alcohol-y taste at the end of the last two packs of pre-fills. The first pack was great all the way to the last puff. Has something changed? Are they adding a little bit of somethin' somethin' on the end, to tell you you're getting to the end, so you don't burn the carto? He's had me try them and it truly tastes yuck, compared to the normal vanilla taste. What gives?

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen? I've missed you guys!

Wow, that's odd. And it doesn't seem like a soapy, alcohol-y taste is something they would add to their flavor....although I did get one once that had a chow mein aftertaste to it...hmmm. They must've filled that one during lunch!
You should drop customer service a line. That doesn't sound right.

Thanks, Cindy! I really have missed ya'll. Hys-frikin'-terical about the chow mein carto. O.. M.. G.. !! I will have to follow up with CS, I guess. I was just hoping the forum could shed some light.

crbrown, I don't think so, because the cartos are producing a full vape when it happens. Does a dry carto taste a little like soap and alcohol?

I've had some cartos low on liquid taste a little gasoline-y, or kinda like what oiled metal would taste like (no first-hand knowledge, sorry )... was it anything like that? Only way to know for sure is to refill one and see if it happens again...got liquid?

I could definitely see "gasoline-y" or "oily metal" from what I tasted. Cindy, were yours doing that while producing a full vapor stream? Whenever it's happened, it's for sure been at the "end" of the carto - with the rest tasting just fine. Of the three packs of Vanilla pre-fills we've tried, only the last two have done it. The first one vaped down to the last little puff, without that flavor rearing it's ugly head. Hmmmm.... I called CS today to add some nifty stainless cartos to my order and asked them the question as an aside. They said they hadn't heard anything about that from anyone else, but he was going to grab one and vape it dry and see what he came up with. Very nice dude.

I'm not mad about it - he's getting a good run of vaping from each carto. We've just been taking it as a clue that the carto needs to be thrown into the "Clean and Refill" bowl. Yep, got juice!

I miss San Fran. Lived there for 5 months in 2006 - rented a room in one of the nifty old victorians in the Haight. Loved it.

Yep full vapor till the end on those, just that weird taste that didn't feel safe to vape at the very end...refilled and it went away. Cleaned and refilled, and it REALLY went away...and Murphy's Law says that the nice dude is probably not gonna come across it, right?

Those old victorians in the Haight are pretty cool. A friend of mine lives directly downstairs from Janis Joplin's old apartment! How cool is that? And I used to do printing for Danny Glover's lovely wife Asante when they lived in the Spreckels Mansion just up the hill, a few blocks away! (may still be there - I dunno.)

just got some SI vanilla. I havent' made up my mind yet figuring it may change with steeping, i was hoping for something sweeter.

They don't really need much steeping, if any. I think what you taste is how it will taste. It is more of a smokey vanilla than a sweet one. I didn't care for it by itself, but I added a few drops of Mint and it was very good together. If you haven't already, give RY4 a try for something sweet that doesn't hurt your teeth.

I did the same thing star. Vanilla wasn't my favorite, but with 2 drops of mint added, it's flippn awesome.

Call customer service in the morning. Tell them about the problem, and I'm sure they will take care of you. They are awesome that way

Maybe I read wrong but u thought I read that one of the packs tastes funny compared to the others and that they did like it. If that's not the case, sorry. If you just don't like it, yes, put it up for trade

I may be noticing the same thing.
I ordered all 3 sample packs (24 strength) and am very disappointed in the flavors. Except for the mint and menthol flavors which are strong on the mint & menthol, everything else has a waxy or soapy taste to it. I normally vape Johnson Creek juices (24mg strength) and have never gotten that soapy waxy flavor from their juices.

Is this due to the strength, some bad samples or just my taste buds sensing something others don't?
