I did the straw mod on two of my 510 carts, because i read that it allowed it to hold more juice and vaped better. It does seem to vape better, but the carts i did the mod to only hold about 15 drops before filling up (and i did cut the bottom of the straw to allow the juice to fill the entire cart) while another cart, same size, i just stuffed with polyfill held 30 drops (and could have held more, i just assumed it was enough because the top was wet, but not anywhere near overflowing)
Did i do something wrong, or does the polyfill just hold more juice?
I think I have an answer for you. I just made a straw mod and I agree. You do not get more drops in the cart. The straw takes up a lot of room that would otherwise be taken up by juice. This is also space taken up that the filler would otherwise occupy.
The claims that the straw mod lets air out so your juice goes down better and thus you get more juice in the cart is very unscientific and silly !
There is a Hole at the bottom already. Any air that's going to get pushed out is going to go out through that hole as you fill the cart.
However, this mod does make it seem easier to hit and get more vapor because it allows more unrestricted air into the chamber for draw. The added air also makes the draw appear smoother because you are mixing fresher air with the vapor that you don't have to suck through a poly fill clogged with liquid
I am testing a combo of the straw mod and the simple mod where you just cut a tiny bit of length off your poly fill - I cut about fifth off the top then gently put the poly fill back in. ( some people cut more, up to a half of the length) This keeps gives the liquid a little more room for an extra drop or two and you still have enough poly fill to "hold on" to all the liquid without leaks.
I also cut the tips of my straw on an angle as shown in this video.
If you wanna go the more inexpensive route with DIY juice or don't mind filling your cart a few times a day stick to the cart and mods over the pre-filled cartomizers.
