This has been working really well for me for a week or two. I take the plug from one of my whistle tips as described here:

Straws obsolete

Make the hole in it a little bigger. Put the plug in so it's level with the top of the cart(no silicon, just the plastic plug). When you put the atty in the bridge pushes the plug down to the right level so you don't have to worry about straw height etc. Since it's a rigid plastic piece you don't have to worry about it changing/warping with use. To pop the plug out to refill I just bite on the sides of the cart and out it pops.

I think it's wicking the liquid through the hole like the bridge is designed to do. Since the plug is pushed to the right height it stays in contact with the bridge. I do usually add a drop or two to the bridge to get the wicking started (though I'm not sure if it's needed).

Haha yeah I could see how that'd happen. The hole isn't that much bigger. I made a 3rd one to show the process. The image quality was because of my Iphone.

Get a whistle tip and pop off the end. You can see another plug in there with a small hole in it.

To pop this one out (that's further in) you can just bite down on sides of cart underneath it and it'll pop out. Here it is when it's out and turned on its side.

I cut that back part off with a razor blade.

In order to make the hole "a little bigger" I used a knife. I put 2 pieces of cardboard under it and shove the knife in the hole to make it bigger. Just start small with the hole and make it bigger until it supplies enough juice. It's easy with a knife to make little modifications. Drip a few drops on the atty, vape for awhile, and see if it goes dry (with liquid in the cart). If it does then make the hole a little bigger. Here is a picture of it when it was done.

Here it is when it's in the cart.. After I refill I put it flush and the bridge pushes it down to the correct height.

I just had to try this and I gotta say that it works like a charm. I'm using Scotts "H" cut ZFM plugs and I removed an inside plug from one of my whistle-tips and cut out a rectangle from the middle leaving very little material on the outside edge. I fits really snug and won't move at all and still fully adjustable too.

This really works great!

"Alright. I want all you whistletips to sign this here donor form and line up over there. We're gonna do a plugendectomy." :D

Haha yeah I need more. I only had 5 to start with and lost 2. I think you could also use the end plug.. so you get 2 per whistletip.

It's been 5 hrs. since I started using this mod to the cart. with a 510 and I've only refilled 3 cart.'s at 11 drops ea. time. My guess is I would've dripped 30 or more times. this mod really does work nice, using a white tip I can even tell when it's getting low by just looking straight into it.

The draw, vapor and flavor stays the same all the way to the end. No leaking at all yet and before I ran across this my 510 was starting to leak more than usual from some reason. Not a drop with this.

I also tried using the first plug you pull out, I just trimmed it down with a razor knife and it works good also, so you can get 2 cart's. from 1.

It's like a 510 on steroids..........

thanks again

Glad it has worked for you guys. I have been mainly using just one for the last 3 weeks. On that one I used a hot knife so there is kind of an accidentel slit. I'm not sure if it helps. The hole/slit isn't big enough for liquid to come through on it's own but I guess the bridge is wicking it out. I don't have any other whistle tips to test things but the one is working great.

Drill it out with a 3/32 drill bit or use something the exact same size as that and heat it up and melt it from the top in and it will remove the little tube piece on the bottome side. I use a small philips screwdriver and twist it as its melting through. I have been using this for almost 4 months now and it works fine. If your using a 5V mod you need to make the hole 1/8" to allow for the extra juice to flow through. Also use a ball point pen cap and make sure the bridge is centered perfectly in there and make sure the hole you make is also dead center, being off a little bit makes it leak like a siv and you will know pretty quick. Also another variation is to make a small notch on one side of the hole on the long side of the piece and I mean small. I call it the keyhole mod and it works fine but is not for just anyone as there is a learning curve with it. You can also take a cartomizer condom and cut it and place it over where the attie and the cart join as when laying it on its side it does tend to leak a little. I have been working on this for months. When you put the piece in the cart make it level with the top and insert it in as slow as possible till you feel the resistance of the piece hitting the top of the bridge. Then push it down very slowly leaving it 1/16 of an inch from being totally seated as this keeps the cart from melting at the bottom.

I take it you're saying the edges of the cart at the bottem?

When I was initially trying the "Straws obsolete" I made the hole and used a silicon plug. If you look back through the ZFM thread there was some concern about the plug melting. Out of frustration(getting dry) I took the silicon plug out and was surprised it worked. I guess maybe our concerns were needless as the bridge isn't what gets hot, it's the coils. My plug hasn't melted at all in 3 weeks with regular batteries or the 5v pt..

Silicon seems to work well for Shortstuff116. I think I can understand why, a bigger hole, more support on the side to help it seal better, easily adjustable, no leaks from the sides, I'm sure it works very well.

Yeah it really does and Ive been using it exclusively for 4 months now on about 6 different devices all with great success. And when you push it down it does sit on the bridge away from the coil which keeps it from melting. The melting I was talking about is on the cart itself that sits next to the coil when pushed down all the way., hence the reason I keep it up just a bit. You can trim it off a little but I find leaving it up a bit works just as good and doesnt make it harder to get the piece in there. I developed a great system for making them with a small screwdriver set. You can use a syringe for refilling them or I use a pair of pointed tweezers on just stick it in hole pop it out, fill and put it right back. I find reseating it keeps it from leaking at all every time
