I’m posting this here hoping that more people will see it and hopefully have some more suggestions. I have a brand new Tauren Max rda and I already stripped the hex screw on the deck.

It’s a teeny tiny hex screw that control the ceramic blocks that hold the coil legs.

I’m hoping for more suggestions as to how to get it out. I was planning on replacing them with the flat head hex screws but I wasn’t quick enough! The first time I want to replace the coils and the the screw is all messed up.

If anyone has the tricks to get it out they will be here at ECF where just about every situation has been resolved before!

Thanks in advance!

Firstly, I would try using a slightly larger hex driver. If that doesn't work then try a Phillips screwdriver. The larger profile of those tips just might be enough to grip the stripped screw head.

If that doesn't work you could try carefully filing a notch in the hex screw. Then you should be able to use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the screw.

Good luck Sara! :)

I can’t get to the head to file a notch in it. I saw that earlier in a google search. It’s the screw for the coils legs so it’s deep in there. I’ll see if I can capture a picture of it.

UPDATE: I decided not to make myself nuts :)lol:) about this so I ordered another one lol! Worse case scenario is that I use this one as a single coil rda  !

Another option is to crazy glue/ super glue the hex key to the grub.

I googled it but didn’t put tiny in the search! This has better options since the heads is countersunk. Thanks

Yep, that's why after reading 4-5 of the suggestions on there...I decided to just post the link to the Google search results. That way you'd have quite a few possible options to try.

Precision tool sets like this are very handy for vapers who use rebuildables. I have this exact one and Fasttech sells it way cheaper than anyone on Ebay or amazon.

$11.43 JAKEMY JM-8130 45-in-1 Chrome-Vanadium Steel Disassembling Multi-Bit Screwdrivers Set at FastTech - Free Shipping

This set looks like something i may already have in the basement. If not then it’s something I should have. I use to do a lot of DIY house stuff before I got sick. Plus my dad left me a lot of his tools. I’ll have to venture down there at some point today or tomorrow.

Im hoping that one is small enough to fit into the channel.

thanks to everyone who has posted some suggestions. I tried the rubber band trick also tried to make it so a flat head will turn it.

I ordered an extractor set from Amazon. I have some other projects around the house that include broken or stripped screws.

    Fingers crossed.

I just used the flatheat screwdriver method to remove a hex screw from a mod I took apart. Had to use the 1.5mm head to do it. It was a tiny bit smaller, but with some steady pressure inward toward the head and some care, it worked. The problem I find with these Chinese mods is that the hex (or torx) screw head sockets they use are oddly sized so that the only bit that works somewhat in a set you might have is slightly too small causing you to very easily strip the head even the first time you ever disassemble/reassemble the mod. And of course the metal is as soft as butter lol.
