Hello world.
I've been mixing some juices for a couple days now and I just can't seem to get it where I want it.
I'm comparing my mixes to some wyatt earp that is perfect in many ways. Now I emailed FSUSA to see what the blend was and they said all their samples are 50/50. The vapor is perfect, the TH is perfect, the taste is perfect.
I have some nic juice at 70:30 VG:pG then I dilute it with pure VG. I'm no mathematician but that should put me well closer to an 80:20 VG:pG.
The problem is that every mix I've made is HARSH! Very rough on the throat and very dry. I've tried using some distilled to see if that would help but no dice. Is there any chance someone put the wrong sticker on my bottle and it's actually 70:30 PG:VG because that's the only thing left that I can think of.
I have some flavors that taste great. So that's very much not the problem. I mixed up a batch a couple days ago of virginia blend flavor, let it sit for a couple days, and the flavor is awesome but I just cannot get the TH fixed.
I'm hoping someone in here can help me out with this.

It does sound like the ratio on the nic liquid might be switched. VG is very thick, so if you compare the viscosity of your unflavored nic to pure PG it should be considerably thicker if it is 70 percent VG. The only other thing that I can think of is that most flavoring comes in PG. So if 20 percent of your juice is flavoring that is going to change the ratio of PG to VG in your juice.

Thanks for the reply. My flavorings have all been 15-20 percent.
I have noticed that my nic juice is very thin compared to my VG. I have some 100% VG nic juice coming today so I'm really hoping that takes care of all this. Unfortunately it's from the same vendor I got the first batch of juices from.
Yesterday morning I experimented and I'm testing now. This is the first time I've added distilled water but I added the same amount to both mixes so it shouldn't really change anything for comparison. I'm dripping both mixes and cleaning the atty for each mix.
The mixes I'm testing:

(1)
RY4 flavor 18mg nic
75:25 VG:pG with 60mg nic .9ml - 30%
Pure PG 1.5ml - 50%
Distilled water .1ml - 3.3%
Flavoring RY4 .5ml - 16.7%
Result - Weaker vapor, TH is pretty nice. Similar to the 50/50 sample I'm comparing to. Makes NO sense to me as I expected it to be way harsher.

(2)
RY4 flavor 18mg nic
75:25 VG:pG with 60mg nic .9ml - 30%
Pure VG 1.5ml - 50%
Distilled water .1ml - 3.3%
Flavoring RY4 .5ml - 16.7%
Result - DRY, Nasty on the throat. Weak flavor.

After writing all this out and reading it a few times the only thing I can come up with is maybe I have BAD VG. Is that even possible.
I scoured all my local craft stores and WalMart and all I got was the PG (Humco) from WalMart. The only VG I could find was butter flavored at WalMart and Michaels but I didn't get it because I wasn't sure. I can't remember the brand but it was in the baking sections of both stores.
I don't know where to go from here but hopefully my 100% VG nic juice will be here today.

Something you may want to consider, you might need a bit of EM to take the edge off.

I once tried a sample of W-Earp from the same place and I thought it was too sweet and had no TH. Mentally chaulked it up to too much EM and gave the rest of the sample away.

Best way to see if your base is "off" is to mix it down to a low nic without any flavoring and vape it. Should taste pretty close to the way your atty smells or like nothing at all.

This is exactly what I'm doing.
I have the 60mg nice juice with a 70:30/VG:pG mix. I add .9ml of that to 1.5ml of the pure VG or PG which leaves me with a base of 18% nic.
75:25 VG:pG with 60mg nic .9ml - 30%
Pure PG or VG fill 1.5ml - 50%

I think it maybe your VG is the problem. If you search the forum here you’ll see people have mixed opinions on Humco. I’ve never used it. Currently I’m using VG from TV and really like it. I regularly vape straight unflavored PH and VG to re-prime after cleaning an atty, neither my VG or PG are harsh.

The RY4 is from PA?

Thank you. I will try that today.

I have not yet used the Humco. I just mentioned that I had some in case I needed to try it. So far, I have been using the VG I got from my supplier. The RY4 flavoring is from FSUSA.

I'm terrible at mathematics, so rather to be safe than sorry, I have decided only to cut at 36 mg myself but I don't think you are cutting it nearly enough to get it to 18mg.

Going to leave the whole VG/PG mix out right now and just go with straight VG

For the sake of simplicity I'm want to cut my 60mg nic juice to 15mg

So first I take 10ml of 60mg and cut it with 10ml of 0mg VG
That will give me 20ml at 30mg
Then I need to cut that 20ml at 30mg to get 15ml
So then I take 20ml at 30mg and cut that with 20ml of 0mg VG to arrive at 15mg

Oh I totally agree it would be easier. Totally. Totes Magotes. But I'm sure I must be missing something because I can't come up with a base that works for me. Weirdly enough, of the two test batches I described earlier, the PG filled is smoother than the VG filled batch. Which makes absolutely no sense to me. Maybe my throat just doesn't like VG.
Let's just say I want a final product of 15mg nic and not the 18mg I said earlier. For simplicity's sake.
I take my 60mg cut it in half and I have 30mg.
Now I cut that in half and I have 15mg base.
We agree on that. Maybe I'll even switch to a 15mg formula to make it a touch easier.

So I really am convinced that my nic levels are where they should be.

Ah, I did not catch that.

I would still first try another VG from a DIY vendor. I do not personally find PG or VG to be in any way harsh.
(You did not mention who you got the VG from? Or did I miss that also?)

I didn't mention where I got it from. They have been awesome and I don't want to associate any negativity to their name. I'm convinced that I'm the problem, and not them. We will see. I have a bottle of 100%vg 60mg nic juice coming today so hopefully that will solve everything.
I just find it really weird that the more PG I add the smoother my juices become. Makes no sense.
