Yeah, most people don't quit immediately. I know I didn't.

For the duration of time that I was on Ego-style batteries, I was still buying cigarettes. The throat hit just was never enough to fulfill that need that cigarettes once did. When I switched to rebuildables and higher-power devices, I began to get the kick that I actually needed. Other people find it different, and are fine just on Ego-style devices/clearos. Dunno.

Also, that first couple months is DEFINITELY the hardest. Friends smoke cigarettes around you and it feels unnatural to pull out an e-cigarette rather than a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. You need to attempt to dissociate the various things you do with analogs and begin to associate them with e-cigs. It's definitely a process, but it's a good mental exercise.

You're essentially detoxing from a drug -- NOT JUST NICOTINE -- (thanks to the thousands of addictive chemicals BT puts in your cigarettes) that your body has grown used to. Nobody said it'd be easy.

I have to say it's a great forum, great people and I feel calmer just knowing it's here! I clearly still have so much to learn, when you talk about things like changing coils, changing mods I literally have know idea what you are talking about!

There really is a lot to learn, and it can be very overwhelming at first; when I first got here in January, I was just glad that there was a new member forum, because otherwise I would not have had the FIRST clue where to start.

Just hang in there, hang around here, ask all the questions you need to ask; you're right, the folks around here are great, and always willing to help a newcomer, or even those of us who aren't new but still need to know things. :D

And oh yeah... welcome to ECF!!

And every one of us are here if you need us. We all had to go through the same things. I quit smoking immediately and didn't look back once, for about 3 months or so. Then I had a slip, bought one pack and it took me so long to finish it that I didn't see the point anymore. I have since then had the equivalent of 2-3 cigarettes on heavy drinking nights, but I feel no shame. We all had to fall once or twice to find our way through this sea of information.

Man I have tried quitting a hundred times and failed 99 of those times. The actual number is probably much larger but you see my point. I couldn't get off the cigs until I started dripping. But that is just my story. Keep at it and start tallying how many you have avoided. Tomorrow will be 1 month no cigarettes, if I don't smoke tonight!

And I was always taught: Never compare how you feel inside to the way someone looks on the outside. I always end up short on that basis. Some people are better at putting on the smiley face even when they are dying inside.

I still find myself going back and forth despite the fact I have been vaping for about 9 months. Instead of beating myself up about the fact I lit up once again, I remind myself that I was once a pack a day smoker and since I bought that first starter kit I haven't smoked more than a few in any given day, often going days and weeks without. I'm confident I'll be analog free one day soon, as I'm sure you will be as well. Just focus on the positive and keep trying.

To OP,

do you know how I quit smoke?

One day I was smoking with my coworker, and he was smoking with the nicblock/tar-out, something like that, which blocked the tar out of the cigarettes leaving just the nic and flavor passed thru. But it had reduced the flavor, and worst of all, when I smelled that tar blocker, I felted absolutely bad. Watching that black gunk in the tar blocker is no entertaining either. Finally I decided not to let those black gunk into my lungs any more, so after I went to my local B&M e cig store and made my purchase, I put my whole carton of cigarettes into the trash can and never looked back.

Hope you can make it through. Some times you may need a real visual effect to see how bad the tar looks and smells to finally make the switch. I hope other people here can help you out on how to enjoy your vaping experience because I loved it in my first puff.

I know the day I bought my Itaste VV I never bought another pack of analogs and still have not had one since. I really never even went through anything that I have heard a lot of people say they have experienced. The only things I have noticed is hormones seem more active because nothings being suppressed by the various chemicals in the analogs and skin does seem to get oily along with acne here and there. I haven't smoked since July and other than that I haven't even had any withdraws and was a smoker for 26 years ranging from 1/2 a pack to 2 packs a day. Occasionally I do find myself missing a smoke with coffee or after a really good meal but a few toots fills the hole pretty fast. I vape a 24 mg tobacco Juice to kill cravings and then vape random flavored Juices at 12 nic just because I found that high nic on heavily flavored juices seems to twist the taste and make them too harsh. Right now I am using the Istick with the Nautilus Mini but will still use my cheap ego tanks like the MT3S because for some reason they have done the best job when it comes to killing a random cigarette crave.

It was easy for me at first. My problems started after about 3 months. I had to find the right balance of nicotine, caffeine, sugar, water....just basically re-calibrate my body. I might have been over thinking it, and just had to get thru that bad spot.

It is different for everyone. My wife went thru the first couple of weeks vaping and smoking.

it was easier than going cold turkey, or even patches..but it had it's moments.

I had the "quitters flu" from the detox from the Tobacco Alkaloids (read that link, my partner Ed, had mouth sores too) it goes away..

I have (still do) varying levels of mg nicotine juices. I started off quitting a 2 PAD habit with 24mg and in two weeks was down to 18mg ..a month to 12mg and have both 12mgs and 6mgs and one "OMG my skin is crawling I want a damn ciggie moments" 18mg tank *lol*:vapor: &:vapor: again..until it goes away..and it will. :)

stick it out..remain committed to how wonderful NOT smoking is and let that see you through.

And here, ECF, these guys are great! if anything there's some funny folks here to pass the time and not even think about smoking.

And know you're not alone *HUGS*:toast:

Withdrawal isn't all physical. There's a psychological aspect to cigarette addiction. My guess would be that you're either over thinking it, you're more psychologically addicted than you realized, or, possibly, there's an entirely different factor involved. What kind of juice are you vaping? Stay away from that no name flea market crap because you really don't know what's in there. I stick to all the higher end brands that my local shops stock. Dragon Vapes gets their juice from reputable manufacturers that would have a lot to lose if they put their brand on poor quality juice. I'm a fan of cosmic fog and space jam. Finally, if you're not concerned about quality then you have to consider that you may have a sensitivity to certain ingredients, as many people find themselves to. I watched Rip Trippers' video on side effects and agree fully with his remedy. Systematically eliminate one ingredient at a time until you notice the absence of one has you vaping with a smile. Start with getting pure vg juice with no pg, then try pg with no vg, and then try liquid without any flavour (I know this one would suck but that's why I'd try eliminating the other two first). Hope you can get past it and enjoy. Good luck.

I started 5 weeks ago. I am 30+ days now without analogs after 42 straight years. I'm loving this. I started at 24mgs and I'm down to 18mgs but vaping all day and night until I fall asleep. It's easy as heck now. I started with low-ended stuff but now I'm ordering better supplies and learning more on here each day. I wish I had started vaping when this all began. It gets easier day by day and much easier soon if you just gang on. Breathing gets much easier very soon too!

Just been going through some crazy withdrawals. I thinks it's because I had to work until 2 and couldn't vape and I am trying to do catch up! I use my local vape shop and vapor caper to order from so I think I am buying the good stuff. But I am not going to smoke!!!!! I can't bear the taste and smell now although I am craving the withdrawal fix. Going to relax for a while and let it pass. Thanks for all your support it is soooooo needed right now!!! Your promise that it will pass is what I am clinging to

Not everyone magically takes to vaping at the beginning. I didn't, but now I've been contentedly vaping for 3 yrs. I started out both smoking AND vaping ... at first I was smoking 10 cigs/day (after smoking 1 1/2 packs for over 40 yrs) ... and I gradually cut back to no cigs/day, but it took me 4 mos. to do that. It kinda sounds like you need to increase your nic level. I started out at (gulp) 36 mg of nic. I'm assuming you have a good vape set-up?

I can relate to this. I started and quit cold turkey with the ego starter kit. In between week 3 and 4 I started having equipment issues that were leaving me frustrated and I did eventually get them figured out but at that point I was a dual user. This dual use went on for a few months. I was like you and was smoking a lot less than I used to, it eventually started becoming less and less without the cigs. I ended up going through various upgrades of equipment and kept my nic strong. For now at least I have not had a cig in quite awhile, and I am currently content.

My wife on the other hand quit cold turkey with the ego starter kit and has not smoked since April. If she quit vaping today I do not think she would start smoking again any time soon.

Everybody has different degrees of success and the desire to really quit needs to be there to make it work. The import thing is to focus on the ones that you do not smoke rather than beating yourself up over the ones that you did.
