Actually I ride a Kawasaki ZZR-600, but that doesn't mean I can't agree with them. I also have loud pipes, came with the bike when I got it, but I'm glad they were on there. Below is a video with a similar bike to mine, with a similar exhaust. Sounds just like mine.

Kawasaki zx6r Drive By (Muzzy Exhaust) - YouTube

As you can tell, the bike doesn't have to be right next to you to be heard. I've been down at 65 mph, and ATGATT saved my life. Broken bike pics and the visible damage on me <-- See the pics if you think I'm just talking out my .... I've even taken a motorcycle safety course. And no, not cause I got a ticket and needed the course to get the ticket taken off. I'd say you're preaching to the choir, but even though you've been riding since I was a year old, it sounds like I have more experience than you already. Guess that'd make me a preacher too.

Comes with the territory. The reason you aren't seen really doesn't matter as long as you see it coming before it is too late. The best safety device is the thing between your ears, no not your nose.....

If they keep missing you then you have been using that mushy grey safety device between your ears.

Ride safe, ride smart, ride free....

ZZR600 huh????

Nice bike.

Small though(frontal area), which is good and bad! FAST!

I wish Muzzy made a pipe for my STeed, I'd trash these 15 pound cans on mine in a second!

I take the MSF ERC every 5 years or new bike. It's always a hoot and I always learn something new.

See I knew we'd find some common ground.

But tell me truthfully, did ya install the pipes for the noise or the ponies??????

I'd dump the 15 pound cans on the ST in a heartbeat for some carbon fiber but they dont make them for mine.

P.S. a headlight modulator will get you seen alot more with that small frontal area. I know you sport bike guys like the small rear lights too but I put the flasher on mine and I've noticed I get noticed alot better.

I've thought about a helmet Mohawk just to catch the eyes but cant quite get myself to do it.

I deal with it a lot. The one thing I have noticed is that when I moved up to a touring bike (Road Glide), I have had less people pull out in front of me. I think it's because of the larger looking mass and also the multiple front headlights. I also upgraded my brake/run lights and my brakes do a 3 pulse twice before going steady, plus have LEDs on my tourpak. And they are super bright. It's very noticeable and have had people comment more then once. I have had less people ride close to me because of it I believe. Other then that, I try to stay out of blind spots, but in heavy traffic, that is hard to do. I get a little upset when I am in the slow lane going along and someone insists on traveling right next to me. I will slow or speed up, so they aren't and sure enough they will be right there again. They just don't understand that they are closing off one of my escape routes, so in that case they get to hear my pipes as I leave them if possible. If not, slow down to the point they won't ride next to me. Typically though, when on the bike, I am passing cars... They are all out to kill you, so ride like they are and we riders try to predict how they are going to do it, and try to avoid it. Ride safe.

Thanks. It's my first sport bike. The one that wrecked was just too light. I prefer something a little more solid after what happened. I didn't actually put the Muzzy on, I bought it that way. But I would have anyway, because I like the sound. Not for the loud noise in and of itself, but it definately sounds like a different bike. Almost like an F1 car. It already came with 110 hp from the factory, which is 80 HP more than my 650 that I wrecked (single cylinders are torquey as hell but SLOW). So I haven't done anything to it since I bought it other than maintenance and fixing the trunk that came with a giant hole in it from the P.O. The safety courses are amazing, they'll teach ya things you never thought you'd need. We really do have the safety in common. I'd be dead right now if it wasn't for my cautiousness. That and my stubbornness. If I'd removed the tiny lil windshield that everybody said was ugly and pointless that put the wind halfway up my helmet (I liked it better than full on in the chest), I probably have a few holes in my chest from the horns. But I believe that the lil windshield gave the bike enough height to keep the buck out my lap. Some things you just can't see coming.

Seems to me the dual lights (Your a shark nose on a Road Glide too.....If I coulda found one right I'da bought it!) up front make alot of difference.

The Pulsers grab the eye too!

I've been blessed by the fact that I work 4p-12 mid and dont have to get nto heavy traffic. On road trips we just fine a barstool to defend and the wife drinks her Natties (Natural Lights.......yuk!!!) and I suck down a few diet Cokes till the traffic clears. Not ever being in a real hurry has its advantages!

They are ALL out too kill you.....I tense up at blue hairs in Buicks/caddilac's, Mini vans and Stupid User Vehicles. Seems like they are usually the ones swinging 3 lanes over or running reds without so much as a glance.

Virginny aint so far away JR, maybe I'll see ya out there!

GIMike...that's because people will think that you'll stop and get out of their way. My DH is a cross country semi driver. People in cars/trucks do the same thing to him especially coming off of on ramps to the interstate. Gawd forbid anyone gets stuck behind a semi...right? Wrong...personally, I'll let a big rig or motorcycle get ahead of me...I'm not in a big hurry to either kill someone or get killed. But there are 2 sides to your complaint. I've gone cross country with him and have seen motorcycle drivers, especially young people, weave in and out of traffic just because what?...they can? All I can think is your playing with your life. If you ever get a chance to ride along with a trucker, do it...you'll see crap like you've never dreamed. Please stay safe.

You are so right! I drove a semi with my husband for 12 years, and it never ceases to amaze me how drivers (semi and autos/cycles) take such chances just to save a few minutes of driving time. Some drivers are downright dangerous, and it makes me wonder how they ever got a driver's license.

One time we were--deliberately--run off the road in our car by a trucker who was driving like a maniac. The driver changed lanes on purpose as we were passing him. I say deliberately because he held his position in the lane for several hundred feet. My 2 left tires were actually in the grass of the median! We were right next to the cab of his truck, and not in his blind spot. My husband saw him look right at us just before he started pushing us into the median! He finally let us back into the left lane about 200 feet from a drop off that was ahead of us at a river bridge. The grass median ended at the bridge. I thank God I didn't lose control of the car!! I was able to safety get back onto the highway.

We called the Highway Patrol from my cell phone, but the officer who caught up to us didn't even bother to pull the guy over! We just couldn't believe it! We did take down the truck #, and other company info, but we never heard anything from the company either. I truly hope that driver never caused anyone to get killed!!

Thankfully, there are many good drivers out there. But I'd like to see more of them! :) You have a great point about riding along with a trucker. If more people could experience riding with a safe and responsible driver, it could really open their eyes.

OUCH! Thank God you weren't hurt worse!

I've been wanting a motorcycle for a long time! My husband isn't thrilled with the idea, though. I told him I wanted to get one before I was too old and scared to enjoy it! lol! I'm still hoping--maybe someday soon. Its more economical, especially since gas prices keep going up! I don't think I'd ride much in traffic. People don't pay enough attention to what's going on around them!

get ya one of those. more economical than a bike, and easier to ride. and they've got motorcycle sized motors (600ccs or so) and can still easily go highway speeds. lower center of gravity so they're easier to control. automatic transmissions. that one i posted is a honda silverwing (i had an old 80's honda silverwing and it was a smaller version of the goldwing). being that it's honda, it's a name brand and not one of those tiny chinese knock offs that wear out easy and you can't get parts.
