I've been reading here at ECF for weeks now and have heard a lot about the Provari's and the Vamo's but never looked into them. I had my two Ego Twists and was ok with those until one day both were charging at the same time. No vaping for a couple of hours! I'm letting myself chain vape cause that's keeping me off the cigs for now and plan on slowing down a bit as time passes so I can't be without a battery, I'll go nuts. So I figured it's time for a third battery.

I head over to my local B/M shop and get to looking at the batteries. I had planned on buying another Twist but then I spot what I think is a Vamo and ask about it. It is a Vamo I'm told. Sounded great! I can use different tanks, I can buy extra batteries and never run out of power. Sounded really great! Now that would be an awesome third addition to my gear collection! I would just have to learn the ins and outs of operating the thing. With the Vamo and my two twists I'd be set! The price was high but I figured it would be a little higher in a B/M shop versus online. And I would be supporting a local Vape shop, I liked that part. Also, since there seemed to be so much hype over the Vamo here on ECF I just assumed something so awesome would have to be pretty expensive.

But then I get home and hop on here to research and I think I didn't just overpay, I think I may have gotten taken for a ride. Please tell me I didn't! I paid $150. And I think it may be a first generation Vamo, I can't tell for sure but it's def not the Vamo 3. The Vamo included a generic charger and two generic Chinese 18350 batteries as well as two CE4's (I think that's what they were) but the owner let me swap them out for two Kanger T3S'. Which I'm now reading are not supposed to be used with a Vamo.

I would like to say though that I have used the T3S' on the Vamo and as long as I don't tighten the tank down on the Vamo to tightly I've able to use the T3S on the Vamo. worked fine. The first time I tried it I had to unscrew the tank from the Vamo upside down because the base of the tank stayed in the Vamo and the rest of the T3S came off. I had to get a pair of pliers and gently unscrew the base of the T3S from the Vamo.

So should I be kicking myself? Or are the B/M shops typically that much more expensive?

Um, well I'll just give you this for feedback: cheapest vamo starter kit with vivi nova atomisers

edit: Of course it will inevitably cost more in a B&M. But considering some B&Ms charge like $100 for an ego/c4 type set up the price you paid might be typical of what a B&M might charge. For future reference, price out anything you're thinking about online before going to a B&M. SOME items will be comparable or even just a little bit more expensive vs ridiculously more expensive.

At the B&M near my place ego twist & spinners sell for maybe $10 more than I'd pay online. And Vivi nova heads are maybe $1 more than I'd pay online for 1 (of course you don't buy just 1 online). But other things like the egos with the lazer etchings were considerably higher.

Oh boy, this is why I dislike most b&m's. They seem to sell either knockoffs or older items as if they were cutting edge. A vamo v3 at fasttech is $36 something for a stainless steel model with free shipping. The fact they gave you t3's when the top portion is fixed is a bit on the shady side, or just clueless. Of course you need to buy batteries and a good charger, all in all should come in about half of what you paid.

You may be able to return it. Live and learn, we all have done something like this at least once. Don't beat yourself up over it.

you could try negotiating with them. I might say; "I went and looked online and your price mister BM is over $50 higher. I would prefer to support my local store than buy online and I am willing to pay a premium but not that much, so what can we do?"
The store does need your business more than you need to use them so the convenience factor is only worth so much.

Damn that sucks! That's why I only use B&M's for little stuff.

I just bought a Vamo V2 that came with two 18650's, a Nitecore charger and an iClear 30 for 58.28 shipped from Fasttech. (Not rubbing it in) The last B&M I was in they had a V2 for $85.00 with no batteries, charger, or clearos. I about fell out!!

Still is bad how they did you and sorry they suck :(

Me thinks u coulda gotten - no no - definitely can get - about 4 Vamo V2 kits (excluding the clearos) for that price - or 4 SVDs - which I prefer over the Vamo........but that is ok -I paid big bucks for my Pro Smoke - than my KGO - then my MyGO - compared to my V2 and SVD - but u live n learn. I would take it back - if nothing get store credit for other stuff u can get later.....
