Hello!

I have a Kamry K1000 with the Aspire Nautilus tank, running 1.6 ohm coils. I initially used the unknown batteries that came with the Kamry but then started using AW IMR 18350 800 mah beacuse i was told they are safer. I have however noticed that i seem to get a better "throat hit" when i use the batteries that came with the Kamry. Since i dont know much about this stuff i have to ask, is the difference in "throat hit" due to the batteries having a higher Ampere than the AW IMRs? The specs of the batteries that came with the Kamry are missing but the AW IMRs seems to have 12A.

Thanks in advance!

no question about batteries is a stupid question. just shows you're on the right track to battery safety.

do you know how old the AWs are, where did you get them from, and are they the "old style" or "new style"? (700 or 800 mah)

do you have a multi-meter you can use to test the voltage of the batteries?

No, amps are drawn by the device not pushed by the battery. The amount of amps drawn are determined by voltage and resistance (ohms).

The typical throat hit comes from the nicotine (higher nic = more throat hit.)

Ok, so why the difference in throat hit between the batterias?

I bought them about 1 year ago but noticed the difference in throat hit from the start. The text on the batteries dosent show anymore but im pretty sure they are 700. No multimeter :(

Ok, so why the difference in throat hit between the batterias?

if they're 700 mah, I'm guessing they are just old. I forget when AW stopped selling those, but it was a while ago. this is all speculation here...but I'm guessing that the AWs internal resistance has risen enough to make a noticeable difference on your vape, hence the lack of throat hit as you say.

You are using a Mechanical Mod, Right?

It could be you are getting more Voltage Sag with the AW Batteries? Which would cause a Weaker Hit.

Where did you get those AW Batteries. As pectrotech mentioned, there are/were a Lot of Fake AW being sold for awhile.

It's not a dumb question, but you do want reliable batteries. Figuring out what you have would be the first step, as well as learning more about battery safety and reliable vendors which you can do here:
https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/blogs/mooch.256958/

Baditude's Blogs | E-Cigarette Forum

Both blogs cover a great deal on battery safety. If your mod is a mech, you are going to want to be even more careful.

I suppose (if it is a mech) and you have a low capacity set of batteries and switch to something newer and stronger, at least in the beginning, I could see more vapor being produced, which may "feel" like more of a throat hit, so it's not exactly outside the realm of possibility that you are getting a "better throat hit" or what feels like one if your mech is performing better due to not being overpowered.

Best of luck, I hope some of the links help. It's really important to know you your battery safety, if you are using a mech.

Best of luck and welcome :)

Thanks for the answers guys! Im gonna order new ones, do you think Efest IMR 18350 would be a good option for me?

I personally don't like efest as a company...i'm sure they have some good batteries, but that's just me. give me a minute....i have to find mooches blog about 18350s. I'll post a link in a few minutes

I find AW authentics to be far better in longevity than efests. You can use them in a pinch, but in my opinion (based on their performance, but to be fair, some efests came with a mod I bought, I have no idea how elderly they were, really.

AW had a flood in their factory or something, so they may be hard to find (authentics, anyway) and I think they are still hard to find, but if you can from a reputable seller of AW batteries, I personally think the performance is far, far better.

Wow thanks a lot! If i understand the review correctly batteries like AWT are better then Efest in terms of safety?
I'm not sure how this translates to 18350's, but I do know there are only four major manufacturers of 18650 batteries (Samsung, Sony, LG, and Sanyo/Panasonic [I think I have that right -- two of them are the same company, and I think it's those last two Sanyo and Panasonic]). They manufacture batteries, test them in-house, and the ones that pass muster are labeled and sold under their own brand. Those that don't bass quality control, are designated "B-bin" cells and sold off to other companies (as opposed to "A-bin" sold under their own name). Those other companies then put their own branding on them and re-sell them at higher prices. In order to command those higher prices, they advertise inflated specs but you have to remember that these are the same cells as the ones sold by the "big 4", only they weren't deemed good enough to be sold under their own brand.

I'm a little confused about whether you have the newer 800mAh or the older 700mAh...because of these 2 statements. What they really are could make a difference, as far as if their age might be a factor or not.

I initially used the unknown batteries that came with the Kamry but then started using AW IMR 18350 800 mah beacuse i was told they are safer.

Then later you posted:
The text on the batteries dosent show anymore but im pretty sure they are 700.

I have and use both of the 800 mAh 8350s. The AWTs are fine but I’d get AW every time from now on.
They are better, I think the AWs are 12A but the AWTs are 10.5.
If I’m wrong then someone can correct me.

A higher admiration for AW batteries across the board.
I think provari recommended them an so did Vapourart.
The AW will age better
