Stupid Question

okay, I just got a passthru for a 510. Why does it need a battery?

because the 510 needs that extra boost..... not technical, but basicly kind of sort of what is right the 510 uses alot of current

Exactly and better to draw those amps from the trickle charged battery than risk ending up with a burnt out USB port on your computer

I didn't know 510 passthrus had batteries - do all of them have batteries? Where are some good suppliers to get them from at a reasonable price?

Never mind my previous inquiry, you can get 510 passthrus at lots of places. Like MyPVShop, where I got my first one, or LiteCigUSA, where I got my second one.
Some things to read about on here and be aware of about passthrus:
The wire going from the battery to the tube is not secured, so it can twist and break connections.
So I suggest you secure the wire coming out of the end of the eCig tube on passthrus (I used a little gel superglue as suggested elsewhere in the forums).
Some people have had them burn out their atomizers by turning on and staying on or having too high of a voltage (voltage not a concern with the ones with the batteries, I believe).
