I've been stuck on this idea that I must upgrade to the bigger better 'sub-ohm' setup, however after talking to some ppl, and feedback from this forum, it's apparent not everyone will enjoy sub-ohm vaping.
I'd like to get some input from those who have switched and were disappointed and why.
Thanks all !

I've got an Atlantis on an Aspire Sub-Ohm battery and also an iStick 30W. There's no doubt that on either battery, the Atlantis pumps out copious amounts of vapor. While I find seeing a big cloud satisfying, and I like the vapor density, my throat and lungs are not in agreement. I have a hard time tolerating a warm vape--the heat tends to trigger off my Asthma, coughing and all that business. I should have known this ahead of time as I cannot even tolerate a top coil on an ego. So, now I'm back on with my nautilus Mini on the iStick 30W without any issues except the clouds are smaller.

It's all about what you like, and don't like, about your current set-up.

For me, started with cigalikes. Made 'em work for months, then went back to smoking. Restarted with an ego and things were significantly better. I knew that by last summer, egos were old technology. So I wondered: if the jump from cigalike to ego was such an improvement, what would happen with a better atomizer and an actual mod? So I got a 15W mod and started rebuilding. Wanted to experience more power and more vapor, so I upgraded again, landing on the 45W builds I'm using now. All of these transitions were held for at least a month before advancing further.

So, the question is: do you want more vapor or the freedom to build coils to your liking?

If yes, my advice: "sub-ohm" is really a badly-phrased way to say "high power". Anything higher than 15W would need sub-ohm builds on a mech. Thankfully, you don't need a mech for high power! I'd grab an iStick 30W to test the waters for like $35. Of course you'll need an atomizer capable of higher wattage. I'd learn to rebuild with a dripper like a Magma, personally, but I know a lot of people like the "sub ohm" marketed tanks like Atlantis, Melo, or Kanger's sub ohm tank. I prefer rebuilding, because you can build exactly what you want. My 45W builds give of a lot of nice, cool vapor; I can't stand a hot vape.

If you're happy where you are, don't worry about. But if you're curious/wanting, all I can say is that high-wattage and rebuildable dripping atomizers are my happy place :)

I've found the practice to mute the flavor of my juices. It also generates a bit too much heat for my liking unless you do a strait lung hit...which I don't like at all. And lastly, it goes through juice like mad. Not an issue if you're vaping a $5 fruity juice you got from a local B&M but it kind of sucks when you're burning up your $22 Mother's Milk or Frakenvape.

This "idea that I must upgrade to the bigger better 'sub-ohm' setup" has to be coming from somewhere, so where is it coming from.

People who want to sell you something will fill you with all sorts of ideas
