I've seen posts where some of y'all are somehow running pretty big volts thru extremely low resistance coils. I'm curious how this is possible w/out burning the heck out of the juice? It seems like the juice flow would have to be way beyond any delivery device I'm aware of for this to work. What am I missing here?

The 28g wire runs much cooler at the same watts compared to 32g wire. It won't heat up enough if you run 8-12 watts through it. It is a much thicker wire so you need to run it at higher watts for it to work well. Since you can't change the voltage on mechanical mod you have to set up SLR coils for it to fire at higher watts....typically 15 watts and higher.
I take it you're talking about in comparison to the mass produced attys an cartos. If so then yes the juice flow is far greater, a Genesis with a low ohm coil is a juice hog and you feel it, many have decreased the nic level in the juice due to it.
In cases of low ohms they also use much thicker gauge wire and the larger mass of the SS or Ceramice acts as a heatsink so they can handle more wattage.

Ok, so if I switch from 30g to 28g wire I'll have to run my ProV at higher volts to get the same heat. And that heat will be covering a larger surface area of the wick, so theoretically that should produce noticeably more vapor. Makes sense to me now, thanks!
I wouldnt reccomend using 28ga on any VV/VW device you have to use so many wraps that it takes forever to heat the coils up. I would use 30 or 32 i persobally didnt like 30 on a vv device.
Yeah, quite a few people have said they tried 28 on their VV device, and went back to 30g. Apparently, 28 is for mechanicals.
i think you have got the increased voltage thing wrong. in your OP you asked why some people were using low resistances with higher voltages, if this is indeed your question then this is done with stacking batterys in a mechanical mod, which is not reccomended. running a sub- 1 coil is great, this is done with a mechanical mod and thicker wire. with a good wick and thicker wire there is no issues with the juice being burnt. all this is done at relativly low voltages, but i have seen some who will stack batterys and vape a low res set up at 6 volts, this would indeed be dangerous, and the flavor would be definatly muted, but i suppose the vapor production would be over the top
Between 1.5 and 2.0Ω is a good target to shoot for with vv mods, like a provari. I like mine somewhere in the middle of that range.
