With the new purple Efest 18350s (10.5 amp limit) I guess you should theoretically be able to go as low as .4 ohm (though I wouldn't go any lower than .5, to have at least a small safety buffer). I don't plan to go anywhere that low, but I'm still gonna order some when my battery vendor of choice get some in.

Thank you :] Very helpful thread, I bookmarked some of those links

I did some research and found that the AW IMR 18350 battery has a 6amp continuous discharge rating.

So I used the ohm's calculator to find that with a IMR 18350 at 4.2v and 6 amps will run a 0.7 resistance and 25.2 watts.
It works but at the limit. Would that be considered safe?

No, you have no room at all for error. The closest range you can be for "safe" is budgeting not to exceed 75% of your C rating (in this case 6amps). Maxing your C rating is not a good idea.

I'd give yourself a little buffer room and run at 0.8-0.9 max instead. That way you have a little leeway in case of coil shift. And yes, voltage will drop under load, but its still best not to play with fire for the sake of a few watts

Is it safe for a standard aw imr 18350 battery to sub ohm around .7?

Haven't started modding yet, but just ordered a RDA and a Private V2 (3 tone) by grand vapor and like the look of the 18350 setting a lot more than the 18650.

Do I need a kick for safety?

Umm, not around me, your more than welcome doing so in the middle of the dessert or in a bomb containment chamber, or in front of the fire squad, but your are pushing 6 amps with a .7 ohm coil. The highest 350 ratted batter is 6 amps, if you kick it, it's going to be the same size as a 18490 batter, so might as well just get an amp capable 18490, plus a kick 2 only puts out 15 watts, so your other option, if you are determined to use a 18350, is to just go to 1 ohm and you'll be at 16 watts. and only drawing 4.2 amps, but even with that rig, please don't vape by me, or near flammable objects. a 1.8 amp buffer is not anything I would risk vaping, I generally like to have at least a 10 amp buffer minimum

Go back to school till you are scarred chitless learning the risks you were taking with that set up, then find the right battery and proper ohm build, wait till your hands stop shaking.

Short answer to your question is FRAK NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The 18350 Efest is rated at 6.4A, I'm running 0.9 ohms at 4.67A. Haven't had any problems. I'm utilizing 73% of the batteries capacity.

Hey, you there, umm don't vape, don't vape, don't vape to close to me, thank you very much. If you are comfy with a 2 amp buffer, well all I can say is, REALLY!!! What the Frak are you thinking??? You really feel 2 amps is a safe buffer? Really??

Tis within your rights to vape, but please don't vape next to me. thank you very much.

Vape long and Prosper!! woops, hate that when that happens.

Don't be so dramatic. 2A or 20A we are talking below 75%. Try giving advice without the sarcasm. :vapor:

More risk of shorting out your build by shotty work, such as shorting to the posts, deck, or cap then a battery venting from being at under 75% capacity. Oh, and mine is on my stealth build which rarely sees hits over 1 second. So vape on in your own world, stay out of mine.
