Given the recent popularity of sub-ohm vaping, and the potential risks involved, I am of the opinion that a separate sub-forum should be created for it's discussion.. Complete with the disclaimers and warning headers which are present in the DIY e-liquid, and modding forums.

I'm aware this would take more work to moderate, but I feel it would be beneficial to ECF, and the community as a whole, to keep this controversial subject, and it's discussion in one place. Stickys could be put in place outlining battery safety specific to sub-ohm vaping, guides, etc...

If left the way it currently is mish-mash in the APV & RBA forums, it's a matter of time before someone gets hurt IMHO...

i think it's high time something got established, or instituted here as per OP...
the debate/disagreements/argument goes on all the time even though its quite obvious sub ohms vaping is here to stay.

the mechanical APV craze has peaked big time and newbies get caught up in the swirl of demand and marketing noise... I'm glad I've been around long enough to see it evolve, but would definitely not like to enter the scene FOB today...

Agree, fact is lots of people are trying sub-ohm like me..wasn't exactly easy learning jumping from sub-forum to sub-forum which aren't specifically dedicated to the subject. Bit of ohm's law here..but of battery safety over there. It would be great to have all that pertinent info in a dedicated sub-forum on the topic. I know there will be a big emphasis on safety and education from the helpful vets here. Sounds like a great idea.

I would suggest at this point starting a social group for sub-ohms at this point (like the other groups for locations and so forth). Whoever creates it can moderate it, and have topical threads that relate to sub-ohms, etc. just like you are explaining above.

Just a thought...

I don't personally sub-ohm.. The problem is, many new members are drifting into the APV and RBA forums, and are impressed with the posts about sub-ohm coil setups, and dragon-bellowing clouds. Many of these new members proceed to try it themselves without the knowledge to do it safely. I see many posts where folks are building sub-ohm coils without using the properly rated batteries, or do not know how to check the resistance on these potentially dangerous coils they're building.

If there were a dedicated sub-forum, their posts could be directed to the proper place (by moderators if necessary) where appropriate disclaimers and warnings are posted on top of the page. There could be stickys with proper battery and safety info also.

The safety concerns aren't limited to sub-ohm builds. Anyone wrapping their own coils whether it's 3ohm, or 0.5ohm should be aware of safe batteries and how to check the resistance of the coil.
In my eyes this would spread the information out more then it consolidates it.

The safety warnings could be added to the RBA section, that should cover everyone who should read it if they are doing research on wrapping coils, what ever resistance they choose to wrap.

I'm not crazy about a social group being formed, unless in is in addition to a sub-forum. While good information is certainly shared in social groups, they are, by definition social. Having a forum where members with questions can start threads relating to a specific topic I think would be more helpful to them than having to scroll through pages and pages of posts to see if anything pertains to their question.

ETA: Social groups aren't easy to locate on the forum either. Perhaps the RBA forum could be expanded and promoted more?

I'd agree that a sub-forum for sub-Ohm vaping would be wonderful. It's here to stay, and there should be one place to direct users who don't known how to do it safely.

The sticky is at least a start.. All one has to do is go down the posts in the APV and RBA forums to see the need for a separate forum where threads can be moved by moderators if necessary.. IMO, sub-ohm vaping is a different topic altogether, and should be carefully researched and thought-out before blindly wrapping wires and wick together to produce dragon clouds with no clue of the coils resistance, or if the proper battery is being used.

It's taken me 3 years to get to the point in vaping I am now. I'm glad I progressed at a pace where I first learned to purchase a multimeter, check resistance of my coils to match with voltage, and practice battery safety before moving on to LR attys, higher voltage vaping, rebuilding attys, etc..
