Hi, currently the setup I am using is an aspire Atlantis 2 with 0.3 ohm coils on a Pegasus copper mech mod. it's not a hybrid, and I've been using this setup for around a year with no major problems. my 18650 says 3.7 volts 2500 mAh. if I wanted to put a different tank with different coils, would it work well at 0.2 ohms? or 0.4?

It depends largely on what battery you are using. Your description could match a number of different ones. What color is it, are there any other markings on it?
What matters is if the battery can handle the amp load of the coil resistance.

I sure wouldn't be using coils with a resistance of 0.2 ohms with a mech mod powered by a single 18650 battery.
At 3.7 volts, that 0.2 ohm set of coils will pull 18.5 amps ... I don't think that's safe with an 18650 battery that is rated at 20 amps max.
One other thing, that 18650 battery actually puts out 4.0 - 4.1 volts when fully charged ... a 0.2 ohm coil with 4.0 volts applied to it draws 20.0 amps of power (unsafe with your single 18650 battery).
BTW ... The mAh rating has nothing to do with the batteries ability to prevent overloading.
You need to fully understand ohms law before you start experimenting
