So after I got my mech, I started playing around with my 24g wire, and so far, I've built 2 sub ohm coils. One at .33 Ohms and one at .40 Ohms. The .33 Ohms is in the IGO W6, and the .40 Ohms is in the kayfun Lite+. I think maybe, just MAYBE I over thought and over did it. By putting a .40 Ohm coil in it, the vape is UNGODLY hot but the flavor is VERY present. Anyone else had any experiences with doing this - good, bad, or indifferent, please let me know.

I tried a sub-ohm build with my KFL+ for 1 night. It was a 0.6 ohm build, with the traditional horizontal coil using twisted 28ga kanthal, and I ran it on my Chi You clone with Efest 30a 18650's. It was definitely too warm for my taste. In fact I tried to chain vape it once and I think I burnt the juice. It wasn't working for me. So I went back to my 1.6 ohm chimney coil later that night.

Like you said, the flavor was good, except for the one hit where I burnt the juice. But honestly, the 1.6 ohm coil at 3.9v with that same juice tasted just as good, without the heat.

I'd save my RDA's and maybe one day, build my genny to sub-ohm and leave the Kayfun above 1.5ohms.

.4 in the kayfun is quite low, I have done a mess of sub ohms in the kayfun but never that low. for my mechanical mods I run them around .8, for my dna mod around 1 ohm and for my vv devices 1.3ish, all work flawlessly. my range of wattage on all of those set ups only range from 14.5 watts in the provari to 20 watts in the dna & mechs. tbh the difference between the .8 set up and the 1.3 set up are pretty close in vapor, TH, and flavor. the thickest wire I currently have is 26g so trying a .4 set up wouldn't work to good but maybe I will try twisting up some 27g and see how a .4 coil would work in the kayfun? or maybe not.

I've read that you can melt the center post insulator by going below 0.5Ω. Since my Kayfuns are clones I don't dive under 0.8Ω. In any case, twisting the wire will effectively halve your resistance. Ditto doing shotgun coils, which is what I prefer. The Kayfun 3.1 clones lend themselves beautifully to 1.4~2.0mm ⊘ coils wicked with cotton.

I've tried it and it's just to much, the Kayfun design is so efficient It's overkill for me. I generally do 1.2 - 1.5 ohms in my Kayfun and even then I drop my nic level from what I use with other toppers.

1.0Ω coils work perfect for me with lighter juices. I do my own and usually leave them with 0 nic. Some tobacco NETs want more heath tho. Those I vape ay 0.8Ω. Going too low is as dangerous in vaping as in diving. ;)

yah I guess its possible to melt it but I will never know. I really have no desire actually to go below .7 in my kayfuns. i save the low stuff for my drippers, reo, and aqua which are in the .4 to.5 range

I tried a .5 ohm 28ga coil in a KFL and almost roasted my lungs. Way, WAY too hot and by the time I'd opened up the airflow enough to make it tolerable the flavor was gone. Depending on the juice I'm vaping at the time, I generally run between .9 and 1.2 ohms and get all the flavor and vapor I'm looking for out of it.

If I want to go below .9 ohms I break out an RDA.

If you have a kfl+ and you want to open up the draw, remove the airflow adjust screw on the bottom. Total game changer

I have an authentic kaylite plus and for me personally I like the airflow screw about flush with bottom of atty. I have heard of some removing screw all together and definitely will work for sure, I also heard that by removing the screw it doesn't wick as well because of the pressure aspects. I guess its like sucking on a 1in straw compared to a regular straw because it takes less effort to pull liquid up from the smaller straw. personally I haven't taken out the screw so I don't know if this wicking aspect really makes a difference. maybe thicker liquids will make more of a difference without the screw in which makes sense. so if anyone does try to remove screw and finds the device doesn't wick as well it could be from the removal

Update: The photo of the Kayfun Lite+ with resistance reading:

Also I did change the coil, as at .4 Ohms was a bit too harsh with some juices - this is a bit higher (.1 Ohm to be exact) than the original build, slightly cooled it off, and it is a freaking blast. 1-2 second mouth to lung pulls as I appreciate the cilia in my throat and lungs, the flavor is killer, but it's not a cloud chaser. In other words - I FOUND MY UNICORN OF VAPOR AND THE LOCH NESS MONSTER AND SASQUATCH! ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Anyhow, behold:

Still wrapped with 24G wire, still ran off of cotton, still in a Kayfun Lite+. I do like the warmer / hotter vapes. So that's why I did it. I DID have to pull the coil away from the airflow hole inside the chamber for obvious reasons. As 24G wire has a tendency to block / completely restrict air flow.
