Former smoker of 20+ years. Always MTL when smoking cigs. Pretty much stick to MTL when vaping as well. Also said I would never have a box mod, but got really tired of charging my smaller tubes once or twice a day, so picked up the MVP 3.0, and it is great. Also had an older rebuildable (AGA S) that would almost always short out on me, so was only going with cartos until a couple months ago. Go myself a kayfun V4, and I love it. Usually run at .6 or .7 ohms. Just ordered a Plume Veil so I can try RDA to see how I like it. Now, just waiting for the DNA200, so I can try going really low on the ohms too. It is really nice to have all of these options, and all the different juice flavors. Just wish I had more $$ to try them all....

I smoked for 22 years and started vaping with a little aspire starter kit.... 2 pens... I failed with MTL devices and still felt the need to smoke at the same time... i was using 24mg nic at that time as well... I eventually quit vaping and went back to full time cigarette smoking.

fast forward to 4 mo nhs ago... I learned about sub ohm devices...decided to sell my old kit ... and bought myself my smok pipe mod and a delta II tank.... Its a small mech mod that takes 1 18350 battery. I was changing batteries alot so i purchased the 18650 extension for it.... when my battery is fully charged, it fires around 30w... That set up is what helped me quit smoking for good.

I then bought a little 30w cloupor mini regulated box mod and used that for a couple months.... I have since sold the deltaII tank and the cloupor mini and got myself an arctic tank for the pipemod and a IPV3 Li and triton tank for my big boy toy boxmod....

anyway, without typing anymore of a novel, MTL didnt work for me.... sub ohming saved my life... :)

As an ex smoker i had to give up because of ill health, had no choice. There is absolutely no chance i'm going back to tobacco, even though i want to.

I use high powered box mods and sub ohm coils for lung hitting. I also use low powered tube mods for mouth to lung. Most of the day i use my sub ohm setups, and when i feel like i want a cigarette i'll switch to my mouth to lung setup. I often imagine a common situation where a vaper who uses a low powered mouth to lung device would probably switch to tobacco when the vaping isn't working for them. So you can see how i make it work to avoid tobacco. The step up to subohm vaping means i have something to fall back on in the way of low powered tooting, and not tobacco.

For me vaping isn't a hobby. I take take it quite seriously. I use my hardware as a tool. The two types of vaping are there for me to use for specific purposes and i need to practice both types. The direct lung style allows me to hit it as hard as i can and get the satisfaction i think i need. The mouth to lung is more like smoking and i have a more relaxed approach to it.

Both my wife and I were long term (40 year) heavy smokers. I was always a MTL smoker. Frankly I thought that was the way everyone did it. When we took up vaping I learned that my wife of 40 years was a STL smoker. Always had been. Wow, you think you know someone and then...

I think a lot of this depends on airflow. With subohm and STL you usually need more airflow. Some ex-smokers (like me) really like a tighter, less airy draw. Yes, the very definition of tootle puffer.

It turns out everyone really is different.

Seems to me. Like cloud chasers are lung-hitters. Ex-smokers are mouth-to-lung hitters. At least I am. I'm not sure I would like sub-ohm vaping. Am I wrong?
I would say your wrong. I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 20 yrs got an ego loved it then bought a vv mod with silo best .5 ohm coil and have went back I'm now building my coils as low as .3 on my doge RDA with ipv4 its all on you but I would definitely give it a try. I did and got the vape bug. Good luck with it

Mtl is where you suck it into your mouth and then inhale it into your lungs, less vapor because I suppose some condensates in your mouth?

Dtl is directly inhaling like taking a deep breath with no pauses, the vapor tends to be a lot thicker on the way out when you do this.

My mouth is only so big, so if I only inhaled a mouthful I'd hardly be vaping at all...

I used to MTL a Provari with a Nautilus and was using 18 nic liquids. I still struggled with my cravings for Cigs.
I tried a subohm and right away realized the potential for me. The 18 was killing me though and I quickly realized that a 3 nic was great on the subohm and ever since have had no cravings whatsoever. Direct lung now and love the volume and flavor...who knew!

I'd say for people looking to quit cigs, best to start off with mouth to lung; it's like training; a learning period where it is important to know the taste of a dry hit before it HITs.
Lung hitting a dry hit is........... no fun.

As for 'sub ohm', nowadays when you look at temperature controlled devices using nickel coils, technically, those are 'sub ohm' coils, but I'm not so sure alot of people would consider them 'sub ohm coils'.

I'm going to say 95% of the people vaping are ex-smokers...And as an ex-smoker I love lung-hits, I still MTL it 80% of the day, but I find hitting the subohm setups much more satisfying and relaxing
