I run heavy vg (70-80%) juices in the Subtank Mini without issue.

Dual twisted 30g nickel, 7 wraps, 3mm ID, inverted coil, wicked with KGD.

Not sure why I put the coil in upside down. Saw the stock coil like that and for whatever reason, ended up doing it like that. It isn't affecting the vape in any adverse way.

I took a 3/8" wide piece of KGD, removed the backing on both sides, folded it in half and gently rolled it up. Then just cut it right where the threads for the barrel are and fluffed the ends up.

Placed the barrel over the coil and wick (it kind of folded the wick down) and tightened it. I didn't touch the cotton. Didn't try to stuff it down or move it away from the juice channel. Just placed the barrel over it and screwed it down.

My settings. Resistance is actually reading 0.10Ω this morning.

I had the same issue with my Subtank Mini until today. I was using the little patch of cotton and the premade coil that it came with, so I decided to use my own wire and cotton (temco wire 26g and koh gen do cotton), and I followed Rip Trippers video exactly and now it works! I use high VG juice as well so I used a dremel tool to drill out the holes.

I'm not sure if it was the premade coil or the cotton that came with it, but I was getting nothing but gross burnt hits. I didn't use as much cotton as Rip did, but used the exact items he had in his video and with the drilled holes it seems to hit perfectly. The build ended up at .7 ohms, which works fine for me. I vape unflavored vg base at 3mg with some distilled water to thin it out, so you can really taste it if the burnt flavor is coming through and now there is not a hint of burnt flavor.

Correct. I was just showing the OP what works well for wicking high VG juices with my build.

Thanks! Not bad at all.

Thanks for the post. I've had pretty good luck with the Mini RBA, but don't usually vape high VG. Going to try wicking it like this on the next go-round.

I dremeled out my juice channels with a cut-off wheel. and also notched the lower chimney ring where it sits over the channels:

Edit: I straightened up the channels with the Dremel after taking these pics. They are more straight and symmetrical now.

And I use a wicking method similar to the one in this video:

My STMini RBA works like a champ! Never a dry hit, never floods, never leaks. Just awesome vapor goodness!

I just finished wicking my Delta II RBA like this with Japanese cotton and it's working great! Currently running a 3mm, 0.6Ω 24ga build in it at 40 Watts on the Sigelei, and it's wicking fantastic. Great flavor, and big clouds. Thanks! Next time the ST Mini needs a wick, this is what it's getting.

Glad to hear it's working for you. It's such a simple build that just works.
