Help. I have a kangertech subtank mini, i went to re wick it as it was burnt and now it still taste burnt. I have changed the coil as well. I have also put the bra back in without dripping juice on it to make sure it was wicking. let it sit in the tank for 10mmin took it back out and it was saturated with juice, however i am still getting a burnt taste, any idea why?

Might be your use of a bra instead of an RBA lol

However, you should check the silicone grommets. Sometimes those can get scorched and there's no getting rid of that taste,

If the coil is firing even before wicking, it's not the coil persay.

Going over my past experience with newly learning rebuilding, it almost sounds like there is no real issue (besides cracked glass)

One side of the wick is brown but the other is not? Could be a sign that your wicking job is not perfection yet, and the wick is uneven(too thick on one side). or that when covering the juice holes in the rda that you apply to much pressure deforming the wick enough that it's not every flowing juice.

You keep mention a burning taste? Is it an actual burnt taste or it tastes like cotton? New wicks need to break in some, depending on brand/material/quality, some have a taste that stays or dissappear after use. I use regular cotton balls from the grocery store, and personaly it takes around 3 mls of juice before the cotton taste starts to dissapear.

Ok. I will do that a little later and Ill post back to let you guys know if it fixed it. Now if the coil is not glowing evenly, how to I go about tweaking it to glow evenly?
Usually when a coil doesn't heat up evenly, it's a sign that one or 2 of the wraps are touching (assuming your making a spaced coil) and after heating it once just poke at it with a toothpick or so to get it to slightly seperate enough to heat evenly. Another reason for uneven heating is having one leg of the coil longer than the other.

With your current 24g, I'd sudjest adding another wrap or 2 and try that again at 30w~

Looking at steam engine coil calculator
.44 resistance runs at 31w with 3.7v
Using the heat flux for that coil at 31w is 342!

That is a hot build at lower power.

Also to note, lower gauges (thicker wire) takes longer to heat up and cool down efficiently. These types of wires were basicaly used for mechs as it was the only way to reach a low resistance and fire at high watts.

Also take note, the subtank is nice on airflow but does not have enough to cool down a really hot coil.
