Whooo hoo!

I spent some time today testing some of my TFA flavors, and mixing up some juice. For testing, I made up some plain 50/50 PG/VG. I used a 5ml beaker, and the small droppers TFA includes with their flavorings. I started out testing each flavor with 19 drops of base and 1 drop of flavor. Next test would be 18/2, etc.. This helped me realize that there is such a point where the flavor will change for the worse. I started off simple, so I made up some Grape Sweet Tart, Pineapple, Orange Dreamsicle, and another batch of Butterscotch.

Pineapple - 10%
Orange Cream Flavor - 10% with .5% TFA sweetener
Butterscotch 12% with 3 drops of sweetener.
Grape Sweet Tart - 8% Grape Candy with 4 drops TFA Sweet and Tart.

They all taste pretty damn good. Can't wait to see what a couple of days steeping will do for them.

Congrats ! Just made 6 new ones on Friday .Half were no good but one is just amazing and while the others Im tweaking but might just turn out great too.

DIY is like the Vegas of vaping, You might lose more than you win but when you win its usually a big score !

Well said. I just finished a few myself, and one is absolutely horrid.

Yeah these days anything thats bad I just give away.I still keep track of what I put in it just in case turns out others like it but 9/10 times if its not good that day it aint going to get much better LOL

Steeping or not, nothing will help this. Luckily, I mix, warm, and shake, shake, shake my flavors before adding nic and pg/vg. This way, I'm not losing much.

I'm about to order a much larger bottle of pineapple. I could vape that all day.
Good to know! I have a few fruits I haven't tried yet, pineapple is one of 'em. I was a bit afraid to try it after a bunch of people have it poor reviews recently. Like movies though. I try to take reviews with a grain of salt. Everyone's different.

Congrats on the DIY success, when you have failures sometimes a good steep can fix that. Just yesterday I revisited a small bottle of apple/menthol that I didn't like at first, dripped it into my Igo W and really enjoyed it, fact is I am still dripping it. Whether I make another batch of it or not is undecided, this stuff has sat since August 3rd, funny how the right atomizer and a 5 month steep can make a difference.

started out testing each flavor with 19 drops of base and 1 drop of flavor.

I am new to DIY myself so correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't that supposed to be 20 drops of base plus 1 drop of flavor for 5%. 20+2 for 10% etc.etc...??

1 part out of 20 is 5% --> 1/20 = 5%

So, 20 base + 1 flavor = 21 --> 1/21 = 4.76%

I wasn't worried about being exact, just close.

Just fyi, there are many of us with taste-buddies that think TFA Pineapple...well, just sucks. Personally we now go with HS Pineapple (that's like Dole, right outta the can) - at 5-7%. Of course, there's nuttin' wrong with lovin' whatcha love - and everybody's mileage may vary :)

That is interesting. My friend and I have been working together on our DIY, and we both think it is delicious. I guess that's why they make more than one kind. I'm open to trying other brands because, well... I like options.

Recommend a different brand of pineapple, I will be happy to try it out and post my thoughts.

Edit: Oops.. I see that you did mention a brand. That was Hangston?

What? :::grinning::: You/newbie don't yet know all of the vendor abbreviations 'by heart'? Of course you don't...

HS stands for Hangsen - here's a link: Hangsen e-Liquid Flavoring | ecigExpress

We've got at least 3/4 of all the TFA flavors and use a lot of them. But there are few that wethinks HS rocks (no matter how good the TFA equivalents are). They are:

Pineapple
Mango
Juicy Peach
Apple
Red Cola (which is Coke - the Blue Cola is Pepsi)
Orange

These are suggested at 5-7% and are all "spot on" for realistic flavor.

But as with all flavors, what works best is what you like best!
