I wanted to post this in the ego sub-forum, but I'm too newbish.
Anyway, if you have an extremely leaky ego-t and you end up sucking up juice, the cause is likely the wick. I searched extensively for the problem and most people assume with a newer ego the cause is overdrawing. I found this to be false.
If your ego is leaking extensively, and you suck up fluid, what is happening is that your wick may be out of place. The wick serves a dual purpose, both providing fluid directly to the coil beneath the puncture spike plate and to stopper in e-juice so it doesn't pour into the atomizer. When you draw from the ego it sucks through the sides of the tank down through the gaps in the spike plate where the fluid is vaporized.
When the wick is messed up, the fluid pours into the atty and is sucked up into the part of the tank used to prevent sucking up fluid where it collects.
The solution is the following, beware because you may damage the atty and void any warranty.
Worked for me, now this thing is a dream
Good luck!

- Remove the spike plate by grabbing the spike and pulling with needle nose pliers. Try to do so without bending the spike.
- Find the wick, if yours is like mine it may not be inside the spike at all. Collect the fibers and sqeeze dry. Roll them up and pack them back into the spike with a needle or something thin.
- Put the plate back into place, this may take some force.
- If you get a strong burnt flavor when smoking, you may need to gently push the wick down a touch so it contacts the coil.
- Enjoy a much less messy smoke and not any longer wasting tons of valuable e-juice!
