The brushed brass King V3 mod arrived from fasttech today, and with a few adjustments it is a really nice mech for under $20. It comes stock with 3 strong magnets installed but only needs 2 for a light GP type throw for the bottom button.

I also took the dremmel and polished the button post and added a spacer to shorten the throw as well. The 510 is adjustable from the top and bottom (pin and reverse thread pin), the finish on the tubes match, and the engravings are deep.

Cool. Good to know it is a quality mod.

I just checked FT and mine only shipped last Thurs and via Singapore post. Likely another 3 weeks until I see it in Toronto. :(

When you get it be careful with the reverse thread lock ring. Mine was stuck tight (it is very wide) and it took a careful use of a thick piece of rubber and pliers to break free without marring the soft brass.

Once free I took the ring off and noticed the sharpest threads there on the entire mod. I hit them with a nail file to decrease the bite and added some lubricant for good measure. It turns easily now - won't flick spin though. Might be worth doing first to prevent problems down the road.

Buy rubber gloves if you own mechs.
Trust me on this.
You will thank me later.

Dont use pliers.
Brass and copper are very very soft and you can damage the mod trying to get a grip.

I use a tiny bit of vasaline on the threads of the lock rings.
They never get stuck.

I swear by those round rubber jar openers from the dollar store. I have tried lots of other methods and these work the best for me.

The thick rubber piece I used went between the pliers jaw teeth and the mod, the other part I turned with my hand.

The ring was fine in the down/locked position but got stuck in the unlocked position. After tending to the threads (very little filing required) it still locks tight but spins easily.
