Make sure to get high drain batteries. here is a link for the E class if you want to build really low. Standard mech building i would look at their D class.

(Type E) PVA Battery INR 18650 3.6V 1500 Mah / 30 Amp - Pegasus Vapor Academy
E-Squared-600x600.jpg

Those batteries are just rewrapped LG 1500mAh 30amp continuous batteries, for $10 a piece!

Battery specifications:
  • Grade A Bin
  • Model: PVA18650FE1
  • Manufacturer: LG Chemical
  • Country of Origin: South Korea
  • Chemistry: NCM
  • Max. continuous discharge current: 30A
  • Nominal capacity: 1500 mAh
If you shop around, you can find the same cell for a lot cheaper from other reputable vendors.

I use a Doge and a SMPL Mod.
Easy to learn on.

And make sure to follow ohm's law. ;)

What a rip off.
Rewraps at twice the price.

Badditude's links are legitimate cells from a
legitimate vendors.
Avoid rewraps.

Put down the pitchforks, FFS. Peg has everyone's safety in mind. He's conducted plenty of battery tests, has called out companies that rewrap and exaggerate their batteries' capabilities, and has compiled information to assist people in choosing the right battery.

This isn't like some company selling you a 10A battery claiming it's 30. Peg simply offers an easy, simple way of ordering exactly the battery you need. Many people are willing to pay a premium for convenience, and this is what he provides. He makes it easy to determine exactly which battery you need based on your style of vaping and then offers it for sale. He also provides A bin batteries, rather than lower grade trash you'll find from other companies. Can you find it cheaper? Sure, and by all means go ahead and buy it elsewhere.

I am a n00bie vapor and have been vaping for 2 months. Over this time I have learnt building my own coils (still suck but slowly getting better) and switched over to DNA 200 devices.
Though I am pretty satisfied with Variable Wattage and slowly getting into temperature control I am super intrigued by mech mods. Not only do some of them look SEXY but they seem extremely convenient as well. But I am scared to take the jump as I am a klutz and I fear that I will end up blowing up my mod. On regulated mods the scare is still there but diminished because of the safety checks built in I guess.

So for a n00b who is actually a little scared of mech mods which mod can I start with ? I want something that looks good and can be used with my currents tanks (Goon, Petri, Velocity v2 clone, Troll v2, Serpent Mini & Merlin). I am looking at something with some safety features built in as well if possible. Also for someone who is well into regulated mods does taking the jump over to mechanical mods make sense ? What difference should I be expecting/experiencing ?
Suggest you check out Bay City Vapor...quality mechs made here in CA...

At twice the price.o_O

I personally use Illumn.com.
One of the most trusted vendors in the world.
Since long before vaping.
Real US based Brick and mortar store in Cali.
They actually DO test cells and stand behind everything they sell.
They have a Rock Solid reputation, and a long history in business

Illumnation Supply also doesnt rewrap cells and jack the price up to take advantage of Vapers.

Hmmmm..... wonder if this is worth a shot at $6.79? Just listed today at FT.

My 3rd King clone is on its way, so I may pass on this one, but it looks worthy of a gamble for the price....

$6.79 King II Styled Mechanical Mod - brass / 18350/18500/18650 at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Edit: I ordered one. My daughter saw a few Pokemon toys on FT, so I threw this on the order. It's a sickness, basically. ;)
I like the price but the other version has a thicker top cap knurling. It looks more in balance with the bottom button knurling. The engraving looks deep with good detail though. Maybe the parts from these versions can mix and match.

I will have both of the "knurled" brass King clones (the $6 and $16 ones) and post my thoughts when they show up in a couple of years.:D The "King III" version definately looks much cleaner and the better constructed device IMO, but it could just be better pictures...

I'm a big SX fan, pics please. :)
The SS/Cu and floating 510 pin are what makes the SX really shine, the button is it's weakness imo. Would love to see an SX with a SMPL button.

I am big fan too. It took a while trying to figure out how to get photos but then I remembered the cameras on my tablet, lol.

On the right is my Tesla version with shims and on the left is the new SS version with two rice pin grooves.

Wow, those have dropped way down in price, but I guess most mods have.

Most of those high prices were based on Hype, and this industry is extremely fickle.
When a Mod isnt flavor of the week any longer, the hype and the value drops.
Alot of the old favorites can be found at very low prices from vendors looking to recoup cash from inventory that doesnt sell.

Some poor shop is probably sitting on some Kato Hammers, Origens, or Pinoy mods, etc. that they would gladly sell for wholesale.
Ive seen some sweet deals lately.
Now is a great time to score that older authentic that you drooled over.

I know.
I am an enabler.

Yeah, I agree with you there. Kind of blows the wind out of the sails of those that kept saying, "but you have no idea how much it costs to R&D and manufacture a shinny metal tube (not that there aren't some really nice shinny metal tubes). It also seems that the market for mechs has dropped way down since the advent of high wattage APVs.

The new High watt regulated mods did finally offer vapers an option
However, even a hardcore mech head would have a hard time justifying $200+ for a Chi you or a Turtleship or maybe $350 for a 26650 Hades today.

Thanks Eric. Which one performs the best, and what how did you make you shims? The listing has ended now, but on the up side someone else is listing a genuine SX for $937, what a bargin.
