Let us know what you think we need or what you think we should be doing different!

Jules-I am confused about #2 of the guidelines:

1. Post an offer. If after a couple of hours no one has accepted your offer you may add to it or change it completely. You cannot just withdrawal an offer if no one has accepted it.

2. If an offer has gone unaccepted for awhile, then someone else may come in and place a new offer. The person placing the new offer does not get to accept the previous offer, which brings us to...

Why couldn't the new OFFERER accept the old offer if they wanted to? Obviously, sometimes someone makes a new offer to get the stalled thread going and does not want the untaken offer, but isn't that just a choice (IOW, why are they disallowed from taking it)? Am I missing something? Are you saying that after a certain amount of time (how long?), an offer becomes void and cannot be accepted by anyone? OR Are you saying that the new offer has to be ADDED to the old offer (wouldn't that be at the perogative of the new offerer)?:confused:

Let's see if I can do this, lol I'm terrible with words sometimes.

Member A makes an offer
Member B takes the offer and makes their own
No one takes Member B's offer for 5 hours.
Member C comes in, makes a new offer thus canceling Member B's offer.
Member C cannot lay claim to Member A's offer, it still belongs to Member B even though no one took Member B's offer at that time.
Member B keeps what they originally offered and can offer it at a later time if they want.
Now, this puts Member C in the position of not getting something when they make the offer but it is called Pay it forward and sometimes you may just have to take one for the team. I've done it a few times to get things moving again.

In the first PIF thread when an offer wasn't taken and someone else made an offer, they would go back 5 or 6 offers to get to an offer that they wanted and mass confusion and anger would occur. Now, When you accept an offer no one can take it away from you even if your offer is not accepted by anyone. The thread will always move forward, never backwards.

I think she means if a new offer was made and the older offer was unclaimed, it cannot be claimed anymore because it is no longer the current offer.

That is sort of what I meant, lol It's a hard one to explain. I hope I got it a little clearer in the previous post. The person that makes the unclaimed offer can keep their stuff and offer it again some other time, maybe when the thread stalls again. If the one making the new offer wants the one that has stalled the thread they are more than welcome to take it but they don't have to. The main purpose is to keep the thread moving and stop any fights or mass confusion that was going on with the other PIF threads.

oh good but can we keep the swap thread, too. I like that one.:)

I like the swap thread idea. Work it just like the juice exchange. You post your "offer", and when someone comes long that wants it, they offer you something in return. If both parties agree, then a "swap" is made. That way we can have a thread you can toss up stuff you don't want/need someone else might, and a thread you can be a bit more "picky" about :)

I never dreamed Member C would try to take Member A's offer! I see what the problem has been now (must have preceeded me joining the forum). I thought the guidelines were saying that Member C could not take Member B's offer. Of course Member B keeps Member A's offer no matter what. Maybe it could go something like this:

1. Post an offer. If after a couple of hours no one has accepted your offer you may add to it or change it completely. You cannot just withdrawal an offer if no one has accepted it. Your offer is only withdrawn if someone makes a new offer and does not claim yours (see #2).

2. If an offer has gone unaccepted for awhile, then someone else may come in and place a new offer. The person placing the new offer can accept the offer that stalled the thread or not, but he is not entitled to any other offer.

OR, I think your description below (Member A, B, etc.) is very clear. Do the guidelines describe a normal transaction before going into stalled threads? Your description below does, and maybe that's what makes it clearer (PLUS the ability to clearly name "Member A, B, C," etc., instead of "previous offer")? I think you should also include your line, "When you accept an offer no one can take it away from you even if your offer is not accepted by anyone."

Again, I think the rules are perfect. The guidelines need some tweaking to reflect the rules better:)

I appreciate the input and you have some great ideas. Going to fix it now! Thanks bunches!

You are very welcome. I hoped I wasn't confusing things:oops:

Jules,
Is it ok to add to a previous offer that has not been taken?

I wonder if this won't become the norm?- Except when the taker specifically says, "I don't want that item" (which has happened to me!)

SWEET! Thanks for all your hard work!!!!

Thank you Leannebug! I like it when people think I'm a smartie!

I would like a thread like the classifieds that tells how the transaction went.Did the person do what was expected in a reasonable amount of time? Was the traded product acceptable? So we can know who we can trust and trade with upfront.I trust everyone and it gets me in trouble sometimes. This way we would know.

Very good idea! I'll get one up today.

aw shucks ::blush::

Thanks y'all.

I like to create (taught by my folks to love and appreciate all kinds of art, and Daddy-io taught me how to "do-it-self".. so I either learn it, or break it! lol)

(Jules, gotta do Sporks first, then you're next after him... if you don't mind waiting on my slow-mo self)

Just saw that bag, and even I want one....and I'm a guy LOL ;)

Suggestions about/for the Negative Feedback Thread

Since I ran into a snafu with my AC from Tasty Vapor it made me think of a few things regarding the Neg Feedback.

I didn't order it from TV. Unfortunately, I got it from a friend (who didn't taste it either) and she picked it up on the PIF thread. SO.. who knows where it came from. But it certainly taught me a few lessons.. and something we all should think about when we pick/up stuff on the PIF and in trades.

It's best to taste anything you receive that is opened, just to verify the contents!

Also, Stuff Happens, and since we all are doing a lot of trading, we should probably not expect perfection (NO: I am not saying ANYTHING bad about the people I sent the AC to... EVERYONE has been super nice about it!!!) But the girl that sent it to me was worried that she was going to be the first name on the "You Blew it Buddy" list. :p

That got me to thinking about our bad traders list, and I think we should take a few things into consideration. There have been times that so-and-so can't make it to the post office, because they don't drive, or so-and-so was sick and laid up in bed, or the wrong thing gets sent.
And on the flip side; I've seen someone get furious and demand to get something for free, without offering a trade, or wanting to take advantage of someone's bad situation. I know what things are worth, and look up prices if I don't. (If a trade with me is ever lop-sided, I am fully aware of it, and am doing so of my own good will.) However, there are a lot of new people that may not know.
Those are the things that I think should warrant a time-out, so to speak.... blatanly bad behaviour, not just being a little late, or having a mix-up.

I'm just suggesting we should perhaps have a little more relaxed guidelines about what type of situation would put someone on the naughty list. Or, make it so that you (Jules) has to approve any name, and therefore you could verify any problem, before someone gets 'black-listed'.

Anyhoo, that's just my 2cents.

I absolutely agree with this, I worry every time I can't make it to the PO on the day I said I would (not saying anyone here would do that, but it still worries me a bit)
