If anything, the placeholder posts are better at avoiding confusion than having to post an offer right away. Look at it this way - If you see something offered that you need, but you have to go figure out what you can offer, then it could take several minutes while you paw through your stash and write it up. During that time, someone else could have posted an acceptance and new offer and you wouldn't even know until you hit submit.

Placeholder posts only take a couple seconds, and as long as nobody is taking forever to update the post with an offer, I don't see anything wrong with them.

I will not remove placeholder posts. I know too many people on here, myself included, that have severe mobility issues. I am not going to lay here with my entire stash in my lap just in case I see something I want or need on PIF and I'm not going to ask any other member to do that either. What a lot of people don't think about is we have a large population of older people, those that have smoked 40 and 50 years and that has taken a toll on our bodies. Not everyone was lucky enough to find ecigs in their 20's before the really bad stuff set it for good. I will always take those people into consideration when I make or change the guidelines.

Perfect, Jules. There seems to be a batch of PIF newbs recently (excellent!). That's why things were a little confusing. But everything worked out fine, didn't it? And we have new PIFers. The thread usually runs along smoothly. You don't have to do this long before you learn to check that yours was the 1st post accepting an offer, and, if someone beat you to it, to edit your post with a "nevermind."

Thank you Jules. :x

I haven't read thru every post here in the suggestions, so please pardon me if this has already been mentioned, and I missed it: Does it make sense to separate DIY-type offerings in the PIF thread from the ready-made stuff ? The reason I ask is because there are frequently offers there that might include flavorings or other DIY stuff that would be a waste for me to accept since I'm not a DIYer (yet). Just wondering, might not be an issue for others...........

We are not going to have 2 PIF threads. If there is an offer you want to accept, then accept it. When you PM to give your address to the person, just politely tell them to keep such-n-such that you don't nee it. A Lot of us have done that.
