In all seriousness, after reading endless rules and regulations and constant reminders about not doubling up topics, I have been led to hesitate every time I consider posting a new thread. I spend too much time searching for things that I never end up finding. I'm going to bookmark this thread. Thanks for the free pass.
FWIW, my intent with that last line is not to be inflammatory, I mean it literally. (see I just backed up my own point)

The rules against cross posting and starting unnecessary topics are there to deal with people that think spamming their post across the forums is the way to get answered or to further their agenda, not to make you worry about starting anew thread :) The mod staff should probably do a better job with thread hijacking, but that is something I'd rather not get heavy handed with unless the hijack is done with an agenda or mal intent.

If people ever read the stickies, FAQs and used the search function we'd all be out of a job.

if we sticky every post where would i find the new posts ?

Good Point.

And if Everything was Sticky we would have nothing to do when a Newbie asked a Question.

All there would be is 1 reply: See Sticky #3,487

LOL.

It is an internet truism that people do not:
Read the rules
Read the stickies
Use search

Anyone with experience dealing with large forums (or exceptionally active ones) can provide tons of anecdotal evidence to support this :)

As for the large amount of rules on ECF... They happened over time with the growth of the forum and of the vaping community. I don't particularly enjoy adding new rules or having to rewrite and clarify existing ones, but with a forum as large and active as ECF it is something that has to be done in order to keep the forum operating smoothly and to ensure it remains a relevant, useful information source.

SmokeyJoe has a vision for ECF and the rules and operating procedures are in place to carry out this vision.

...

This is True.

Myself, I try to answer Newbie questions instead of Telling Him/Her to use the search.

Not because it is Right or Wrong. Or because I'm a nice guy. More because when I was a Newbie I got a Lot of Answers to my Searchable Questions. Guess it's a kinda a Karma payback thing.

That or I have Too Much Tim on my hands lately.

Yeah, when I joined there was about 3 e-Cigs. The Joye 510, KR808 and the RN4081. Filler Type Cartos where Brand New. And the Two Choices you had in e-Liquids where 100% PG and 100% VG.

Now there are about 2 Gazillion Choices that Must make a Newbie's Head Spin.

You're absolutely right on that Lis, the amount of people looking for information has grown, and a lot of new things have come out over the past three years.

It is only going to get bigger and even more confusing as time goes on. There will always be a need for folks to answer the newbies because they are just looking for an answer right now and don't really want to research. By the time they get past that newbie stage they usually get a little more sophisticated in their questions and things settle down into a more manageable rhythm in the rest of the forum.

the good point of this forum is that there will be always a direct an helpful answer to any question and not offensive ones
