Hello all, I have been lurking now for about 2 weeks and decided to post. My name is Brady. I am from MN, just south of the cities and have been looking into E-cig's now for quite some time. I am just a little apprehensive on which one to try out.
Both my wife and I have been smoking real cig's for a long time and we are both in that never ending process of quitting and we thought that maybe the e-cig is the way to go.
My questions though range from which to buy, how big are they, do they really mimic the real thing?
I am looking at the No 7 disposables right now so that we are not tied into a started kit before we even try this out.
Can anyone give me some insight to the above questions?
The biggest hang up for me is the size, we both smoke regular "king" cigs and if we are going to do this, I would like it to be as close to that as possible.
Thanks so much in advance and I hope to be around for quite some time!

If you are looking for disposables, check this one out:

Starter Kits - *NEW* M9 - Disposable E-cig - Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarettes | E-Cigarettes | E-Cigs from Smoore

I would personally recommend an M402 (96mm) with extra atomisers, manual batts, USB Passthrough, some blank carts and liquid.

If 96 mm is still too long for you, try looking at the M702 which is a PCC model at only 86mm (similar to a regular analog length). You would probably need to get an extra battery and some atomisers along with some blank carts and liquid as well.

You can find this all on the website above as they are the direct manufacturer. :)

Likely the most recommended PV here is the JOYE 510. The whole kit is inexpensive and it works great, with good consistent vapor. There are a lot of vendors, but Cignot is given as the least expensive. This is a good PV to learn on, then you can read and research here for the more expensive and more powerful models.

Good luck and Congratulations on your very wise decision! :)

i have tryed the No. 7 disposible IMHO there are total let down after i got my 510 the batt on those thing will not last long at all many 4-6 of vaping if your lucky. not enoght time for you to rely get the feal for vaping for a few buck more than the price of 2 of the desposable e-cig you can get a starter kit.

if both you and your wife are going to start vaping i recomend going to
http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.com/
and not buy a starter kit insted get the Titan 510 stuff
mega charger
five pack of batts
five pack of attys
pack of emty carts
at lest 30ml bottle of juice(or a selection of smaller bottle to smple dirfent flavors)
for starters

that was my first e-cig order its enoght for 2 ppl to start vaping can sould save a little $ than buying strarts kits and spaires for two ppl

You won't go wrong with either a 510, or an M401 manual starter kit. Both are good, but the new manual M401 has longer battery life then the 510, even though it's smaller. The 401 manual gives clouds of vapor with good throat hit, and lots of flavor. It's the same width as a real cig, and a little longer then a 100's length cig (marl 100's for example). Pretty realistic feel.
You can get 2 starter kits which will give you 4 atomizers, 4 batteries, 10 cartridges (they can be refilled), and 2 chargers. Get a few 10ml bottles of liquid, and you'll have a good start. Don't be afraid to try 5 or 6 different flavors, since that gives you the best chance of finding one you really like, and his prices are great.

M-401 Manual Starter Kit

Litecig has excellent customer service and fast shipping. You would have your e-cigs 3 days after ordering. If you prefer the 510, you can get it there also. You can also get the 510 for only $35 per kit at Cignot 510 No Box. Also good customer service and fast shipping.

If you are considering disposable e-cigs, it sounds like you may not want to go the trouble of PV's like the 501. You might consider instead a 2 piece with cartomizer. If you don't want to refill your carts and maintain the atomizer. the cartomizer on 2 piece takes the place of the cartridge and atomizer. You can find 2 different 2 piece e-cigs at www.nhaler.com

Asking this question would give you as many different answers as there are people who reply to it, each have thier own opinion.

As a newbie myself (going on 3 weeks this comming monday) I can tell you our (my wife and I) experiences, and hopefully they may help.

I read countless posts here for days, watched video reviews, read all the great stickies in the new members forum which I Strongly reccomend you take the time to do by the way.

A lot of the first impressions you have now will very possibly change after reading up, or actually trying one. On first blush we also thought oh, it needs to be small, look lige a cig, be automatic etc.

On further study, and hearing of issues with the manual batteries being oversensitive etc (some may not be) we decided to opt for a manual battery type.

The manual batteries you need to press a button on, and while compared to smoking an alalog you may find strange, the first day using it here it became the natural way of doing it very easilly withought even thinking about it.

The smaller the battery is on your ecig, the more frequently you will need to change it for a charged battery.

Most people I see (and us) start with a smaller ecig, and a lot end up getitng another (or MANY others) afterwards with a bigger battery.
Most with multiple types use them for different occasions, so it is not a bad thing to end up with a few.

What type you start with should depend on a few key factors:

How tollerant (or not) are you with fiddling with them?
If you are not, then a cartomizer model (2 piece) is probably a safe bet.
If you are, then any would be ok in this regard.

How much do you smoke / what is your daily situation.
The more you smoke now, the more you will likely vape, hence you will go through more battery power / batteries. Do you NEED something small to fit in a pocket etc that can last you all day on the road, outside etc, or are you a home or office type with access to power for recharging or passthrough type devices?

If you need to be self reliant from main power, then either a big battery mod, OR a small ecig with either a handfull of batteries OR a PCC to recharge them on the go is suggested. (you can also get powerpacks like kensington etc but that also takes up more space)

Answering the above shouldl help you narrow your focus as to a model to select.

Most verything else is a matter of taste/opinion, but the more opinions you get on various models the better you will see what each is like before you buy.

Do your reaserch, it should pay off as only you can say what you like, not us.

We started off with the 510, and it is probably the most reccomended starter here, with the 901 being a close second.

Since then we ordered 2 Protoge's so as not to be tied down to batteries so much (the 510 pcc's are less than perfect as you cant put an assembled 510 in it, but it can get the recharging job done)

If you really need/want an analog look with portability and a smart pcc, the new revolver elite that Nikko reviewd here is worth consideration and if I hadn't have gotten the 510 I probably would have went this route for a starter as I was also looking at things like the blu, ss no 7 etc with slick pcc's: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...28-video-review-revolver-elite-e-cig-pcc.html

Good luck!

I would have to recommend the M401. It's very close to the size of an analog. Initially I got the starter with auto batts but soon ordered the manuals. I also have the 510 and although it's a great PV I find myself using my manual m401 more. The flavor is better, the throat hit is about the same as 510, batts last longer, and seems to use less juice over the length of a day. The only drawback I can think of is so far there is no PCC but I see and hear that is soon to come.

Good luck with your choices!

As mentioned before, this question will get you as many different answers as the folks that respond. For me, having tried most of the board favorites, I have landed on the two piece model. I tried the 3-piece models and they make me nuts, constant refilling, attomizers that die, dripping verses carts, which kind of fill to use, topping off all day - I am done with all that! The two piece models are battery + cartomizer. Screw on the cartomizer and inhale - that's it. No muss no fuss. Cartomizers are meant to be disposable but you can refill them pretty easily as well. In fact, once you get the hang of it, refilling is still easier than dealing with carts and I have not managed to kill a Cartomizer yet!

There are two basic kinds of two piece models - the greencig and the Kr808D-1 (aka Nebula or Vapor King). I have not yet tried the Greencig model so I can't speak for that one.

If you are looking for ease of use, great vapor, and great taste, the two piece models can not be beat. I have purchased from Vapor4Life and Nhaler and they are both great to deal with and take care of their customers.

I stand behind my recommendation with my own guarantee. As I mentioned before, I have tried all the greats (510, 801, 901) and I will never use them again now that I have found my sweet spot! If you order a Vapor King from Vapor4Life or a KR808D-1 from Nhaler and you don't love it, I will trade you piece for piece for any of the models above (and yes I bought them in bulk so I am ready for you or anyone else that cares to trade). So far, no one has taken me up on this offer.

wow, great responses, thanks everyone!
Right now I am thinking about the m-402 dual atomizer, Has anyone tried these?

It's the exact same as the auto 401, only difference is the battery is a bit shorter and won't last nearly as long. Do yourself a favor and stick with the manual 401 if you want to go with the M series. Performance wise, the manual is much better then the auto, and the m402 and 403 only come with auto batteries.

This guy is right on, as for being the same size my 901 is the exact size as the 100 cig I used to smoke. 3 pc can be a hassle but I think they offer more options and cost less. 2 pc less hassle, less options as they are prefilled and they cost more IMO.

I am a proud owner of a Modern Vapor SideSho. It is a improved 401 that includes a PCC (Personal Carry Case). I am in the process of writing a review for all to see, but for now, I would definately recommend you research this product.

Two of the most important things to look for in a product is quality and customer support. The folks at Modern Vapor have suceeded at both! A high quality product with great portability with a large helping of class. Throw in the owner Tony, and you have customer support that can't be beat. Take a look! Good luck to you and your wife.

Hello Everyone!
This is my first post although I have been reading all of yours for awhile now. Great info BTW. I have been vaping for about a month now and I'm still a little perplexed about a few things, but I'll get to that later.

So far in my e-cig arsenal I have accumulated a KR808D-1(think that's what it's called) a DSE901with auto bats which all took a crap on me, four of them!!! But it vapes pretty good. Recently purchased manual bats for them, and I just bought a DES 801 because of the size of carts. Thought it would vape great but the 901 still vapes a lot more.

So, I wanted to purchase one more e-cig to try and was going towards the 510 until I saw the 401. Why is the 401 more expensive if the 510 is the one that most people rave about? I like lots of good smooth vape with very little throat hit but want something that doesn't kill the flavor of the juice. That's not too much to ask for right?

On most sites they don't really hype anything about what the 401 produces so I was just wanting info from anyone who has tried both. Ya see, here's the thing. I'm a single mom and full-time non traditional student who has no job. So all this money I am spending to find the "Perfect" e-cig is starting to put a big whole in the loan money I need to live on. Not a good thing, but I'm doing this all at my son's ( he's 12) request because he wanted me to quit smoking real cigs. This is all his fault LOL! Basically I have enough to spend on one more kit and then maintenance on this new addiction but I want to be happy and satisfied when I'm vaping. I've been off analogs for about a week now but if I can't start feeling some satisfaction from these e-cigs, I'm going to go back.....

This can't happen because I'm asthmatic and have been hospitalized many times because I LOVE TO SMOKE. Not real bright I know, but hey, it's an addiction and my only bad habit ...hehe.
So here's the rundown:

I love my 901 very much, vapes great and with the pass-through even better. I also like the fact that they work with my KR808D-1’s. But I would like little more vape, less throat hit.

Ijust got the DSE801 and while I like that it’s very smooth it lacks the vape I’m looking for. It also vapes better with the pass through.

My KR808D-1’s I got at are pretty decent but it’s sometimes hard to get a good vape unless you suck until you can’t breathe. However, I have noticed they vape much better after you refill the two piece cart.

So, if someone could enlighten me with the pro’s and con’s between the 510 and 401 I would really appreciate it.........unless there is another kind I do not know about yet? I can’t really afford to buy one of those big Silver bullet type ones right now, so out of the question unless there’s one out there near 50.00. Which I haven’t found.

Also, what I'm perplexed about is how when switching bats on atty’s , how they sometimes vape or taste different even when they are the same type unit??? What’s up with that?
Sorry this was so long, but I’m just two steps away from buying a real pack of smokes and I really don’t want to. Somebody stop me please!

Btw, Curt at esmokeyshack is an awesome dude and is helping figure out what went on with all my dead bats, I think it had to do with a bad atty, he’s taking care of me, and that’s very admirable of him. Curt ships fast too. 3 days.
Rob at Vapor Kings is awesome and really helped me put a special order of att’s and bat’s together when he was out of the kit I wanted and I had them in 3 days!
So far, the vendors I have dealt with have been really wonderful and they give customer service, I can’t say enough!

Thanks for any and all responses to this post, but please respond soon, I’m almost out the door.
I will be doing another post asking about juices but will post in correct area. Thanks ya’ll!

So here's the rundown:

Hate to bring bad news. But wife is has serious asmtha and and ecig had her going for her inhaler more than her than analogs did. Of course, it could be she was just making another excuse to keep smoking analogs.

My opinion is that if she switches to ecigs, I'm optimistic that over time her condition will improve. I'm taking a risk saying something like this. It just shows how much I believe in the benefits of vaping.

IMHO, as far as ecigs, you simply can't ignore the RN4081 (as in Npro). I got an RN4081 starter kit from AquaVapor for $30 (comes with USB charger). I got an extra battery for $12. (the stripped down kit only had one). The kit comes with an exra 10 ml bottle of juice. I got the menthol cause I don't trust the tobacco that comes with starter kits. But as usual with menthols, it really tastes like mint. I haven't had time to mix it with a good tobacco flavor.

Good luck and PLEASE keep my informed about the effects on you asmtha. I would print out your progress and show it to my wife, assuming I can trust that you are being honest.

Dave
