This isn't an exact science, in fact this method is the complete opposite. I don't use masks, gloves or any safety gear of any kind. I spill stuff all over my coffee table, my hands, my cat...as primer said this is ghetto jedi mixing - not for everyone, if you have a meticulous nature you're probably better off reading one of the sticky threads about proper DIY mixing and you'll save even more $ than doing it this way (which is still very cheap tho you're right). Basically this is jambalaya DIY - throw everything into a pot and see what sticks, who cares if half of it ends up on the floor.

btw they say all that stuff to cover their ___ - spilling 12mg nic base on your arm is the same as spilling 12mg vendor juice.
+1
If I spill a few drops I just wipe it up with my finger, lick it off.
Same thing with mixes - first test is a drop on the tongue, then a few in the 306.
Darkhood you sold me on the hypnomist. I have the new almost clear stuff, but I went all day on that chit today.

If you ordered from ecx be prepared to wait at least a week even if it's priority - their post office sucks and packages sit there for 3 days before moving. I ordered this past Mon and it didn't leave the state till Thurs, expected delivery tomorrow. Happens every time. WA to PA has never been less than a week for me. But ya, np :)

Fuuu - my last ecx was hella fast - 4 days flat, cart to door.

Stop buying up all my hypno mist ya .......s...seriously the first time ever I've seen it all out of stock like that...shoulda kept my mouth shut lol. Ya the new light yellow stuff isn't even as good as the old dehydrated-urine-color which was amazing - super complex and endlessly interesting but it's still pretty good, kinda one note now but it's a decent note and at least it's still subtle and balanced. The old stuff was almost too good, couldn't get away from it, now at least I'm vaping other flavors lol.

My last ecx order was placed at 4:50pm on mon, shipment received at post office at 4:30pm on mon...kinda thought it'd miraculously appear at my doorstop on tues seeing as they now have some sort of esp... Last tracking scan puts it somewhere between WA and China last I looked...it took 4 days to leave WA and they changed the expected delivery date twice. Every time this happens...I'm used to it.

So like, ecx rly needs a referral program.. I don't wanna be an official affiliate just gimme store credit for referrals. I guess it's ok as long as they do a good job on my stuff, I'm happy to send em business but ah this is getting kinda ridiculous, I'm gettin pm's from ppl telling me they just ordered this and that and blah blah blah thanks for the help but why don't you get store credit for this? I have no answer lol they won't gimme credit unless I'm an official affiliate and have an e-cig site...I'ma go send em an email...

I originally planned on mixing my own base from 60mg to 12mg, but on a fluke bought some 18mg 70pg/30VG base directly from WL to speed things along. It is so simple not bothering with the 3 bottles, gloves, mixing down, cleaning syringes, etc. Just base and flavoring even I can do without screwing up. I am happy with anything between 12 and 18mg and 70/30 to 80/20, so winging it works for me.

I may eventually get around to mixing a big batch of base at some point, but buying it premixed isn't that much more expensive compared to vendor juice. I'm actually enjoying flavorless, just base for vaping more every day.

Cheers to Ghetto Jedi DIY. Thanks for the post.

I have to say I will be letting someone else in a controlled environment equipped will be making up the eliquids I will be using. That includes a brand new eliquids vendor where I tested samples and made some recs as the collection of ecigs grows here.

I see these YouTube videos frequently on how to make up your own and have to caution strongly just like the warning at the start of the thread here having worked with toxic chemicals in manufacturing at one time. You have to pay close attention to all details. For example with those that don't need or want nicotin in the mix that's one less toxin to worry about! Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin at most will cause skin irritation on the other hand while some may use distilled water in the mix.

Ghetto Jedi Mixing is def not for everyone.

Just to clarify even though I think the original post is pretty clear:
Vendors are simply taking condensed nic base, diluting it to get the mg you specify and adding flavor - condensed flavor from companies like flavour art, hangsens, capella, etc - by using this method all you're doing is eliminating the need to dilute your base and adding the same flavors they're using. There's 2 steps involved - buy the stuff and mix it together - it is NOT dangerous, you don't need a controlled, sterile environment and there is nothing toxic about it except the inherent "toxicity" of nic juice. 12mg base will do absolutely nothing to you if you get it on your hands, it's the same as unflavored pg/vg you can buy from a vendor (for $5 per 5ml bottle).

I can see that one! I've worked with some chemicals that were far more toxic and had skin contact at times without any ill effects afterwards by simply not wasting times using a good hand cleaning station. These chemicals would burn your eyes in seconds and had to be "handled with care" being solvents used to dillute other chemicals like lead based paints! Talk about exposures!

With some eliquids vendors selling the concetrates that will simplify things for the home brew by simply following their guidelines while it only took one look at those found here to know everyone would be wise to read them over and remember the warnings provided. The problem with many however not feeling premade juices provide enough nicotin will be in wanting more and looking for the higher percentage base mix. Some vendors list 36mg while most are either showing 24mb, 22mg, or down to 18mg as their highest level.

At present I wouldn't even have the space to work on mixing up any batches. I tend to accumilate other types of hardwares(pc that is) whee my time is taken up. I can imagine you would want to see a larger size bottle used to start with over trying to make up a barch for a 4ml or 5ml size. Of course you could always make up enough to fill several small bottles for taking them on the go with you whlle anything larger stays at home.

I hope I may have one of the last straws to inspire this thread, I asked the same questions. I now know that most of this info was posted many times on ECF, but the searches provided me with far too many results, none as good as this thread. All the info I asked for, and more. I do hope that everybody knows how many vendors will sell bulk quantity 48mg, 36mg, and 24mg, and lower flavorless e-liquid ready for you to add flavor to. No need to overload one vendor. Some have plenty in stock, just look for ECF reviews before you make your choice. There are many resellers of of the major concentrate flavor makers as well, Amazon has some of them, you can even buy them straight from the maker. Nic and flavor percentage calculator links are easier to find here on ECF than flavorless e-liquid vendors, which is pretty easy and many DIY liquid vendors have coupon codes. You may want to cut your ready to vape liquid with more PG/VG to cut down on nic., don't be afraid to take the next step into DIY. My $.02, as it goes, I like to jump on and off of bandwagons.

Take notes, take notes, take notes! From my reading ... you might hit on something super-duper wonderful and not be able to replicate it later. And notes for sharing said super-duper can't hurt.

Thank you, Darkhood, and others for this thread. I like the combo of humor and good, useable info. Just exactly what I needed, too!

i agree with the take notes!! i keep two small note books one i use for when im making the flavors and adjusting them, and one for after when i have it the way i want it this one i keep nice and neat.
every once in awhile i will make some and forget to right it down, like last week i made one that came out incredible everyone loves it but i didnt write down the exact formula so now i have to try it again i used alot of flavors and i measured in drops, here is what i think i used:

15ml bottle with 12ml of Premixed 24mg Nic 50/50

50 drops of BM Watermelon
15 drops of LA strawberry
10 drops of TFA sweetener
4 drops of TFA sweet tarts
4 drops TFA bubblegum
4 drops TFA cotton candy
4 drops of TFA white cake

i let it sit for a week so all the flavors could mix well and used on a carto tank and the flavor is just wonderful,
you would think the watermelon would have been the dominant flavor but its not it all combined into a wonderful sweet and smooth
flavor something like a cross between a wedding cake and carnival cotton candy.

I write nothing down, follow no formulas, constantly make batches that are way too big, spill everywhere and primarily mix by my beak and juice color and still have yet to make something so awful I couldn't vape (at least while drinking). Pretty good considering I've gotten vendor juices that went in the garbage after 1 hit curled my toenails. Actually in all honesty 90% of my concoctions are splendid and could be sold - slap on a label, mark the price up 1,000% and make up a catchy name... If you follow your instincts you shouldn't have a problem (unless of course you can't cook to save your life and/or have no sense of smell).

Got to love that one! I would hate to think that the only way people had to get some actual "useful" information was by just happening into a few YouTube clips rather then running into the information here! And thing I do realize the need for is certainly "taking notes"! You can never take enough of them.

The real lessons in anything however are by trial and error while this one area where some errors could be very costly(see warning on nicotin when sold as separate item) while others are simple clumsy annoyances when you have an oops?! kind of day. Paying attention to what you are doing however is basically one of the key components.

Here I would have the butter fingers for some time compared to those here who have been at it for some time. Yet I could cook up a Sword Fish steak dinner to perfection on the first try. (and that was good considering I'm a lousey chief to begin with! )

Yea well I enjoy flinging e-juice all over my house, it's soothing and my cat likes the smell. I keep having to remind myself ppl take things so literally here...as if I'm dumping gallons of nic juice all over my boots and have no clue what I'm doing...my point was - if you don't want you don't have to be so meticulous when mixing juice this way - it's actually more fun to just mix it up and see what you get, most of the time it'll be pretty good if you have any common sense at all and don't feel like something like cucumber, grape and peanut butter would be a tasty combination... Personally I don't take any notes cuz if I make something I really like I can always mix it again by smell, color and taste. You know when it's right and being analytical and meticulous about it takes all the fun out of it, for me at least.
