Why not? I keep missing out on the mod:mad:
You can't really have it both ways, or if you want it both ways is you have to be cool with it both ways.
Preorder = undefined wait, which apparently many people can't handle and let David know that.
Instant Order = possibility you get snookered out of a limited quantity.

More complaints about wait times appear more than the other. David had to make a decision, recognizing that his inability to stick to an absolute timeframe puts his customer's satisfaction and his reputation at risk. I don't have a problem either way, but see the wisdom in sticking to selling in-stock items only, even if in limited quantities and sporadically.

I understand. Business is Business. I myself do not mind the wait, but decisions have to be made for your company's best interest. I just really want the 26650 from super t and I keep missing out on it. There are other mods out there like the Mutant mod which is good quality, I could get second hand. I will keep trying but if I don't get it, then I don't get it. My timing has always been bad with Super T's products.

We can all work together and get you one.

I respect whichever way David chooses to take his business. I love every piece of hardware I've gotten from them...from mods to blem tubes, to drip tips, and especially the Strata. Personally, I won't buy anything again on a pre order basis, but won't hesitate if it's in-stock. It's not the wait, just the frustration of dealing with the eta estimates.

Moving away from pre-orders will be frustrating for some, but if there is a heads up given about when an item will drop, it should make it a bit less so. Remember that David did say if the new mod sells well, that there will be more. I'd say that with the way they're moving, they're selling well. I have a feeling there will be more than the initial 30. I personally can't swing a $200 mod right now, plus I'd need a new charger, but I'm hoping I get lucky and score one in the give aways. Also the small limited releases will create an increased demand for what will be (at least until the market decides otherwise) an exclusive item. (The only downside of this is increasing the value on the secondary market-that's a good thing for those that are legitimate buyers/users looking to recoup their costs when they decide to get something different-bad as it encourages speculative buying by those looking to flip for quick profits) Trust me when I know how frustrating that can be. I collect and use handmade custom knives- these are often in such high demand that certain makers don't take orders, as they would quickly develop backlogs going several years...see Ernest Emerson, he stopped taking orders over ten years ago, and is still delivering on them today! These makers sell via lotteries, whether at shows or over the web, interested buyers enter (one person, although there has been people caught cheating), and if their name is drawn, they get to purchase the knife from the maker at the table price, usually from $600-$1,200- Within a week, you'll see some of these knives selling for up to 3-4x the original price. I've been fortunate to have been selected several times...and actually use these items. (My wife knows that should anything ever happen to me, to contact one of my trusted friends to get actual market value from them) Some makers will do a first come first served sale, with the same result. I've built a decent collection, and have never paid more than "table price", and won't. I have two pieces on order, that'd may not see for several years-both makers have since closed their order books. (One maker filled his order book with 200 orders in less than 8 minutes, but his work is amazing, and the knife will instantly quadruple in value the moment I receive it....crazy I know)

Personally I'd rather be able to buy something that was readily available(as far as vape stuff goes). I think as the volume of Super-T's business increases, their output will increase as well...if the profits are invested in more employees/equipment/etc...more American jobs are a good thing! Instead of 9 pieces in stock, you'll see enough (hopefully), that should you want one, you'll simply buy it and have it in a week.
(This is impossible with the knife makers as they are truly made one at a time by individuals)

Maybe eventually you could see a standard line of high quality products from Super-T in stock, and a "prestige" or higher end/limited models made on a pre-order basis...

Sorry my 2 cents turned into a long rambling mess.

I can see that you go a long ways back and know what's the deal. When you posted this, seemingly out of the blue, I took note:

I just wanted to say I am not new to this forum but I do not post much. I have been Vaping since 2009. I am writing this because of the recent attacks against Dave (Super T) and his precise strata. Some of the posts and videos were downright malicious. I have never had an issue with this company and their customer service is awesome. Some people have really big egos on this forum and they need to be brought into check! There is a difference between attacking someone or just posting your opinion. People who only have negative things to say have nothing to give to this community. I have owned many atomizers and some took me a long time to work just right. Just my opinion.

What baffles me is people somehow have formed opinions on the Strata, without owning or using one. Recently a guy posted how it was a "flawed design..." in a vape subforum on a non-vape related site. I'd already posted my successful builds, and expressed my satisfaction with it. I asked him on what was his opinion based, and if he had one or used one. Of course he never replied. I'm just blown away that people take the time to write out a page of opinion, and post it, based on absolutely no first hand knowledge. Weird.

I can't believe how people can post a negative opinion on a product when they don't even own the said product. That is just stupid!

One can only speculate about the events surrounding the recent "unhappiness" over yonder in Minnie-sota, but you could see it building up on this forum for the last couple of months...Just to be clear... I was only kidding when I offered to "get a rope" ...

I suppose the "villagers" have made their point...David now wears body armor, and has developed a stutter...
Nobody seems to like the "new normal", and once again... EVERYBODY wants his latest creation...
Soooo, You ask yourself how do I get one??? good question...

It looks like the "pre-order" days are over.... the only people happy with the "handful at a time" method, are the ones who were lucky enough to get one. (I didn't, so I don't like it)
Unless you're the NSA, you most likely can't monitor the website, or this forum 24/7.. Believe it or not... some people have jobs.
Would a lottery work??? how about a waiting list??? what if you combined either of these with announcing a release date, of "X" number of units???
David's a little jumpy right now... So, this would be the time for the folks that didn't like the "old way" to come up with some ideas for a new plan...anybody???? what would you do?? you know....besides complain....
Other high end manufacturers must face similar problems... do they have a better solution???

Can we all please stop yelling!!!! In the end it's David's business.... His decision is final...

I kind of like the approach taken by another well-respected modder. Anounce a specific day when there will be items for sale, with a list of what will be for sale (not necessarily the number of items available, just what items). I guess that may turn into an F5 frenzy, but it at least gives everyone an equal chance. I haven't had too much trouble getting items in that type of sale before, as long as there is adequate notice and you are there when the flag drops.

These 30 26650's we run were just a trial run to prove out the programs and see if people wanted that big of a mod, they do, so we will make more, so if you miss out, have a beer or two, we'll make more! We're just about done with the Preorders(still on schedule to have all preorders done by Next Friday).
