So, I am wondering is the SS still in pre-order land, or can I really get one, like now?

Earlier in the thread David mentions that the bodies, switches and adapters are in his hands now. He is assembling, polishing and testing those that are on pre-order first and then he will put the remainder in stock. So, if you ordered one "like now" I bet it would be in your hands in about a week's time -- maybe less.

Perhaps, David will chime in on this with a more definitive answer but I'd rather he busied himself with MY SS first -- all things considered. =)

They look really nice to me and after years of seeing high precision parts for luxury products come off the CNC line, I'm not easy to impress.

I think they will look even sexier once there is a little tarnishing on the inner recesses of the cap's knurling to accent the dimensionality of the detailing. Think diamonds against a platinum background or the knurling on a classic German camera.

I ordered my caps and button in brass. I'm not worried about the weight but I am a little concerned about the balance. If, once I've had a chance to use mine, I want to add an aluminum cap or two, will you continue to stock them?

Yes, i should have several of the aluminum caps of all types left over:)

I was fortunate enough to try another very popular, and heavy, new model last night and was unimpressed by its plastic switch, which sometimes worked and sometimes did not. This has pushed me in the direction of this machine, especially since the other one I had an interest in seems completely sold out for the foreseeable future.

So, I am wondering is the SS still in pre-order land, or can I really get one, like now?

Where i sit now, all 3rd batch orders should ship in the morning. All other pending orders (so called 4th batch) will begin shipping after that. Hoping to have them all shipped next week. So i would estimate a new order the wait is going to be about one week. I do have them on hand, its just a matter of getting the other pending orders out first.

Note: I do not have 510 or 901 caps in brass, just in aluminum (i do have the 801 caps in brass or aluminum though).

This one's for you, KonaNeil. I grew-up in a family of photographers. Back in the 50s, my older brothers both had Leicas. Figured you might appreciate this pic of the M3 I found on Wikipedia. You gotta like-a Leica.

Whoo Hoo!!!!

The wait for my baby is almost over and I am so excited. My T-Tip, which I have had for about a month, is still a virgin because I have been saving her to use with my Super-Six. She's such a hot mama that she has been begging me to pop her cherry with some other PV, but I told her that she had to remain a virgin until her prince arrived. I know I have been tough with her, but she will thank me next week for making her first time a once in a lifetime experience. :D

Thank you David for the beautiful pictures. I think that I can actually spot my baby and his brass accents amongst all of the others. The countdown is on!

That's a nice old camera.
I have an old Zeiss Ikon Symbolica that was my fathers.
He'd brought it back from Germany after WWII. He always had it on our trips to the mountains when I was a boy. Brings back some great memories.

Hey pipes,

Man, I've been dreaming about my Super-Six so much that I almost forgot about the other lists. Actually, I don't think I was ever on the mini list....not a huge fan of the 10440 batt, but I think I was on the T-2 list.

I might get on the mini list if you let me cut....:D

It was tough David, but I just kept telling Ms. T-Tip that she couldn't just give herself to any old pv....that she had to wait for the one. I pulled her out today and had "the talk" with her and I let her know that her wait is almost over....that she will soon be a real woman. She actually smiled, in a brassy sort of way. :D

While I wait for my SS order to ship, it's a good idea to lay in batteries and atomizers. Does anyone have an opinion on where to get 14500's and CR2's and accompanying chargers that are reliable? Is Deal Extreme the answer?

My only experience with LI's has been with the 10440's that came with the Vapre 51. The generic blue ones were great, but the Trustfires purchased later were very disappointing, from the moment they came off the charger.

Also I use the Rio 801 from Vapor 9, I believe. It works for dripping, but perhaps not so well for a cart and keeps running. However, with this stand up to 6 V? If not, what other 801 size atomizers might be better choices.

I really look forward to trying this machine out. Now all I need is a leather case to protect it during travel.

I have purchased batteries from deal extreme (long wait, but cheap prices) and batteries from Battery Junction (more expensive). It almost appears the batteries i get from them (battery junction), though the same brand, look a bit better (less off center protection circuits and more uniform size). I once ordered 16340's from China and 4 of them were different lengths, yet all the "same" battery.

My mom just uses plain DSE801 atomizers and likes them.

So, one might say that your SS is waiting for that special piece of brass?
