My good friend, who now lives in another state from me, is pregnant.
She's has had long time anxiety issues and essentially smokes in order to help herself deal with her anxiety.

She is now pregnant.
She miscarried her last pregnancy at about 4 months. She was devastated.

And she smokes.
She knows she shouldn't smoke, but she's anxious and that makes her want to smoke.
And now she's even more anxious about the pregnancy because of the loss of her last one and that makes her smoke even more.

I've told her to start vaping, but she's never done it.
I sent her a disposable which she did use, but didn't follow up on to get more.

I know I can't make her stop smoking if she's not ready, but perhaps a straightforward starter kit might be just the ticket for her....

NOT AN ENTRY
I started vaping when I was pregnant, also due to my anxiety. Couldn't take any medication.. and agghh. It saved me!

I'm saving a ton of money too since I quit smoking. I've gotten my costs down to around 20 cents a day since I learned how to DIY, clean/rebuild clearomizers, and clean cartomizers. I think I've spent about $250 so far of the savings in my quit banner.
It has led to many a hot night on the town; many a movie night WITH popcorn and snacks.

When I looked at smokers when I first started vaping and totally quit smoking I looked at them like they were complete fools. Now, I have matured as a vaper and I realize that it is my responsibility to try and inform them of their deadly mistake and lead them on the path to vaping righteousness. Instead of looking at them as despicable smokers, I look at them as future converts into the Cult of Vape©. I hate the smell of tobacco now though, and although it doesn't make me want to smoke - like most people who quit, it does make me want to get the heck out of there because it stinks. Smokers are ignorant and prime for indoctrination. That's how I look at it now.

So, with this new revelation (in my last post), I have tried to convert more than a few people. Sadly, my words often fall on deaf ears. Most of them won't even try my e-cig. They'll listen to my story, but when it comes to taking the first step (which is trying/proof of concept), they often refuse to do so. Those who I have gotten to try it, despite this, often cough like first time smokers and then hate it. I don't vape harsh, 24mg at 70/30 pg/vg at 3.8v at 2.0-2.4ohms, but they just can't seem to handle it. Weird. So far, despite my determination, I have yet to get a single convert but I WILL NEVER GIVE UP. Even if I only ever get one person to see the light, that will be the first person whose life I saved (at least in person), but that's enough for me.

I have also spent a great deal of time and effort writing "The Vaper's Handbook" (link is in my signature), which is a complete guide from A-Z, beginner to advanced, reference for all vapers to learn from what I have learned through copious amounts of research, as well as my own personal experience. From technical details, to repair guides, to product and vendor reviews; it's all there, and evolving daily; everything I ever learned about vaping in 8 months of research. So I hope that I have at least saved a few lives that way, but I'll never really know for sure unless they tell me. If you have any questions about vaping please give it a look. I won't disappoint. If you know any new vapers, or people on the fence about vaping, send them the link. Let them learn about vaping - the easy way. It's all about saving lives for me. I don't get paid for my contribution to all vaperkind, so all I get is knowing that I gave of myself to help someone save their own life. Spread the word!

A couple weeks after the original mastectomies, I had to go back to surgery because some of the skin had died.
The surgeon had to take another good sized section of skin from each side so that only healthy skin was left.

Smoking impedes circulation and healing.

If I had still be smoking, would I have had enough skin left on my chest to be able to do reconstruction?

I'm glad I don't have to find out...

I went to a Breast Cancer/ post-mastectomy support group the other day.
I was actually amazed at the number of women who were still smoking.

One would think having already had one brush with cancer, these women would be ready to quit.
But smoking is so addicting that they were still doing it.
Mind you, the huge anxiety accompanying this kind of life event is overwhelming, but still...

I handed out at least a dozen vaping information cards.
I hope at least one person is able to make the switch to a healthier alternative...

vaping has helped me keep my job. my boss used to get pretty upset with me when i'd disappear from my office constantly. i was a closet smoker so i dont know if he knew what i was doing or not but he wasn't cool with me randomly disappearing. now i vape whenever i want without leaving my desk and dont have to sneak off 5 times a day to burn dried tobacco coated in chemicals and wrapped in paper. healthier for my body and my job security!

Thursday #1 - Good luck to everyone. I'm sure everyone of us knows at least one person that this amazing kit, could help. Someday, my mission is to have a kit or a couple disposable in my purse at all times. Give someone that push, when they are skeptic about how the ecig could take the place of stinkies.

First, thank you gogoplata for this wonderful contest. I discovered vaping many years ago with an Njoy, both my hubby and I tried them, but unfortunately didn't work for either of us, back to analogs. A little over a month ago, I tried again after smoking analogs for 40+ years. I put down the analogs for good on 8/30/12. I can breathe, I can smell...and have never had the urge to even pick up an analog again.

After being analog free for over a month, I now realize how those things smell. My hubby sort of makes "fun" of my vaping equipment and the aroma that at times I filter through the air. I hear him hacking in the mornings and remember how that use to be me, at times to the point of making myself literally sick. I wish there was a way to convince him to try again. It worrys me now that I know it can be fixed quickly with just a change in habit.

In my family, my daughter and son have both taken up vaping along with me, it makes me incredibly happy for both of them. Unfortunately, my husband and brother haven't. My brother is going through some serious health issues at present, and just him adding the analogs to his daily routine isn't helping his situation. I can only hope that seeing the health benefits I have been blessed with will at some point make them curious about at least going for a trial run. I would have never believed it would have been possible for me to quit my 1 1/2 PAD habit, vaping made it incredibly easy.

One thing I find remarkable is the friendliness of vapers - here on ECF and in general.

I rarely meet vapers on the street, but when I do, we have an instant connection.

Just by vaping, I have access to an instant 'stop-smoking support group'.
Without the support and encouragement provided by other vapers, stopping smoking would have been that much harder.
