If you haven't had the pleasure of reading this yet I suggest you sit down, grab your kitty and pet it softly singing "Soft kitty" over and over until your completely calm. Or take a Xanax and wait a hour.

It's on CNN and probably everywhere. In the report they give this huge number, or is it an increase, in the number of minors vaping. As usual there making it sound like this is the end of the world.

In reality, look at all the young adults vaping is saving from a life of stinkies. Lets not mention this at all. This is great news twisted to look bad, bad, bad.

I did not read the whole report as I did not take the aforementioned precautions, my BP shot way up, my HR was UN-countable and I just killed my cat! (j/k) I had to quit reading this totally ignorant report.

rant off
(no kitties were harmed in the writing of this rant)

I think the population is starting to figure out that the media/press are just skilled liars trying to make a buck with shock and awe headlines and created science/studies. (not intended as political),, but notice how Trump addresses the world through twitter,, making it impossible for the media hacks to scoop him. we are in interesting times. (fwiw,, we refused to pay for our son's college if he chose journalism,, we didn't raise him to be a liar)

These reports are brainwashing people into some really crazy thinking. I was in a discussion recently where people are saying that the warnings on smokeless tobacco are just false and that they are totally safe. The new IQOS "heeting" devices and other alternatives are much safer. I admit they might be slightly safer than smoking but really? It is amazing how much misinformation is spread and how many believe it.

I read the CNN article, and was pretty appalled. Basically it is the "top doctor in the country" laying out more FUD (Fear, uncertainty, and Doubt) about vaping. So for the most part I read " FUD, FUD, FUD, save the children, FUD, FUD, Nicotine is a Neurotoxin, FUD, FUD, Save the Children." Pretty disgusting really, including the quote from the pro vapor interview for the article, which came off pretty weak. Unfortunately, this is going to be what we are dealing with until BP and BT find a way to properly profit from vaping, and stop spending boat loads of money to make it sound like it will bring on the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse.

While I personally wouldn't use the iQOS (or any big tobacco products), the principle is the same as vaping. Remove the smoke created from actual combustion and you remove most of the inherent dangers of the product. The same is true of almost all modern smokeless tobacco products (chew, SNUS, etc.) which are processed and pasteurized.

What is the matter with people ??

:grr::grr::grr::grr::grr:

Cigarette smoking is down BECAUSE there are less harmful e-cigarettes to choose over smoking cigarettes.

:grr::grr::grr::grr::grr:

This just makes my blood boil.

The total lack of concern for Public Health in the name of "Public Health" just makes my :censored: head spin.

The Royal College of Physicians is advocating e-cig usage...THEY actually LOOKED at what is there and see the benefits.

:censored: I am so tired of being so :censored: mad !

“The chronic toxicity of nicotine in quantities absorbed
from smoking and other methods of tobacco use is very
low and probably does not represent a significant health
problem.”
- SURGEON GENERAL REPORT 1964
Chapter 4 page 32 of the original report, page 41 of the on-line .pdf.

True then, still true today! Can not express my thoughts on the current 'Surgeon General' with out being banned from this forum.

Kids listen to what we say but then they don't always do what we wish they would. Kids hear that nicotine might be bad for you. True or false that's the jist of the SG's report. What a lot of kids seem to be doing, according to a reputable U of M health survey group, is vaping 0 nic liquid. If nic is the only hazard then those kids are doing the right thing, right? RIGHT?!

Kids are interested in the clouds, not the nic. Grownups see electronic cigarettes. Kids see cloud toys.

Some ways away from koala forests

Sadly even the BBC has really been pushing this FUD from the US Surgeon General (Vivek "recommends more regulation and taxation" Murthy) to all corners of the world without proper analysis, despite the UK's own medical establishment having already adopted a far more rational science-based approach (as opposed to tobacco industry lobby based).

Plain nicotine being called as addictive as methamphetamine etc... Not even the chemical-laced supercharged burned tobacco nic-mix but just the nicotine...?

Some teen paraded crying how she didn't realize there could have been DANGEROUS nicotine in an ice-cream flavoured vape...

This kind of high-profile FUD is a serious issue because it can convince otherwise rational adults to perceive vaping as something almost criminal that deserves to be eradicated.

"Smoking... oh well, I know smokers and they're harmless, but those evil e-cigarette things are pushing candy-flavoured .... at our children!"

Meanwhile in my actual real world, vaping has helped several former smokers quit burning tobacco and the only vaping teenager I know (a 19 year-old) only vapes no-nic menthol.

How many of the people who wrote this, including the s general. will not be working for the government in a few more weeks? I did not expect nasty propaganda from our kindly sg. May be that position could be eliminated to save money or may be Trump never gets around to appointing another one. It would be nice to see a former SG come out against the report. I have a hunch that's next.
