until about 2 weeks ago I used the slotted boges exclusively. recently tried smok cartos again and fell in love with the flavor difference! that said, i have some slotted boges left that i could try some high vg with! hmmm - lol i see a purchase in my future, lol...

my punch is brand new, only punched a few cartos so far! i will have to back off a little and see if that helps keep me from denting them! thank you :)

by the way r77r7r, i love your signature!

VJ- I found that the carto deforming comes usually from continuing to punch well after the hole is there. With mine I just go a bit past the Pop sound. Or your punch is dull.

You can fit 4 holes in the same level of the carto, if you can keep from denting. There are also the new Slotted Boges for VG users.

Or, just dilute the VG a little with some D-water.

Drip and shake it down... Repeat til liquid is coming out the little holes... then put it in the tank and do a few dry hit/primer puffs and you will be good to go :)

Well I tried it at it works fine. Great flavor, good vape production, though I don't know that I'd switch from a clearo. I've noticed I and only lightly tighten it or I cant get it off as the carto just spins in the tank. Nice alternative to have though for my "desk vape"

Yeah, some commercial tanks are loose like that. If you have a tight fitting drip tip, use that for handling purposes. And sometimes it will tighten up if it was some slippy eliquid on the orings.

I had a hard time getting past the spinning thing too... but if you get a good tank with good o rings you wont have sch issues. Also, there are tanks that have a special 'seat' for flanged cartos (flange is a plate at the bottom that fis into the 'seat' or cut out on some tanks. Also having a good drip tip helps keeping from pulling the tank off of a carto that doesn't hve a flange. For a long time I used cartos without the flange and worried in the beginning but you figure it out. I put my cartos and tanks away for a long wjile but eventually got tired of tinkering with clearos and loved the fiddle free vaping I got with a good ol carto tank. Ibtanked carto tanks got me hooked. Hard at first to spend the $25 on a tank but hell, clearos are more expensive now a days... and once you realize the difference in quality of an ibtaned tank, you will love them. At least I think you will, cuz I did. I still use other tanks sometimes but, thats just me.
Glad you got it to work :)

One of the keys is to not tighten the carto on to the battery until it is snug. I found in most cases that I was getting plenty of electrical contact before things were screwed together that tightly.

If you do get the spinning tank and can't get the carto to unscrew, I've had luck with taking off the drip tip and putting a needle nose pliers a little ways in to the carto, opening the pliers to push against the inner walls of the carto and getting it started turning like that.

    So,

I am enjoying this carto - tank setup and would like some advice as to a better rig. As I mentioned earlier this one came as a gift and while I'm liking it I'm curious to find a recommended setup that is more "secure".

    Thanks!

Maybe you want some beauty rings?
They screw onto the eGo thread of the battery, then when you screw on the 510 thread tank, you screw the beauty ring upwards to secure the tank better.

Personally, me and my wife have been using Texas Tuff Tanks (Texas Tuff Tank at Vape Dudes) for 3 years now. We've tried other tanks, but always come back to these. I prefer to keep things simple, and it doesn't get any simpler. Side fill makes it so easy to top off- just buy some bottles that include a needle tip. Then when it's time to fill, just unscrew the side screw fill it up and done. Since the top and bottom are both rubber grommets, there is no spinning of the tank when screwing the carto on- it holds firm. Changing out the carto is the easiest of all the tanks we've tried. This thing is the no hassle simplicity tank!

The only thing that you have to be careful about is screwing in the side screw. It's very easy to get it cross-threaded, which will eventually strip out the hole. But even being very careful, the hole eventually strips out just from constant use. I usually get 6+ months out of each tank. Not too bad for an $8 tank.

Glad to hear someone favor a grommet tank over some other's. I've got about 3yrs on my polycarb tanks. A few bucks more, but they thread well and I have a tap-n-die set to keep the threads clean.

Right now im asking myself why haven't I heard of these tanks? Or maybe I have and moved on because I prefer glass. However, the description says the tank can handleany juice. Is this so? Citrus, cinnamon? If so, I'll be ordering a few :)

I think they might be able to. It was mostly Polycarbonate that needed to be avoided. I love mine for my unflavored tho.

Pretty much make these at home for next to nothing and they last forever. Many different screw color choices and you could put a wrap on for decor.

Best thing tho- they're very hard to slide off or leak.

So I started out with the iClear 16, eGo battery and went on to tanks, Kayfun's, drippers etc. then one day for whatever reason back in late January I tried a carto and tank. Haven't touched any of the rest of my stuff since that day. IBTanked for the tanks and thanks to another user here on ECF 2 bricks (100) of LR Boge carto's.

Just yesterday I stopped in the new vape shop around the corner from my house looking for a replacement for my V.1 VTR which finally stripped the 510 threads last week. This guy was all about thermonuclear powered mod's and rebuildables then proceeded to try and sell me the latest 150W box mod and some quad coil dripper. I told him I wasn't interested in anything that had more than 15 to 20 watts capacity but he was selling and started explaining to me all the things I was missing out on by not dripping at 150W. I walked out without making a purchase, went to the house (1/2 block away) grabbed my two large Harbor Freight cases full off mechanical's, drippers, tanks, Kayfun's and went back to his store. I walked in, laid the cases on the counter, threw them open and said I don't want or need your big super thermonuclear mod, I want a small box format that will take my 18650's that I can screw my cartomizer on and ENJOY vaping my way!............He asked me to leave and I did.

So just like the OP, I too have discovered the flavor rich and cool vape at 9.0 watts from a carto. And I can turn it down, conceal it in my hand quite well, vape happily at my desk without clouding the office or setting off the fire alarms.

Oh I cringe at the thought of a lutefisk juice . . . If such a thing exists, it's an abomination that should be stricken from the world

Just in case that was a serious question, any Swedish Fish juice I've come across has been flavored like the cherry gummy candy of the same name. I'd assume his was, as well ;-)

Seriously, I was scrolling through the e-liquids on some website and there was the normal Apple, Blueberry, Peach and then . . . Swedish Fish. I was like "Really? Surely not. Who on earth would want THAT flavor?" and forgot about it. Then when I read the OP's message my reaction was more "Whoa, there it is again! And someone actually likes this stuff!!" so I just had to Google it and found out about the candy. That makes a lot more sense. . .
