My 2 Q's are the last of my YiHi products. They are just too expensive. I'm going to get a couple of Therions dual battery DNA75's. I can get 2 of those for the price of another YiHi. Leather wrapped with a Teak inlay. I have been loyal to YiHi long enough to put up woth them coming out with a better one 2 months later. Reminds me of ipv.
Does feel like a bit of a kick in the teeth releasing a Q mini so soon. the reality is they have only announced it, a few prototypes will be sold to beat the 8th deadline. I wouldn't be surprised if it's another 4-5 months before they are actually available to buy as a finished retail version.

The Therion is good for the money, I personally think if you are used to Yihi quality you might, like I did think it feels a bit cheapo.
The reasons I dumped mine was a mushy fire button and it wrecked my battery wraps and something just didnt "feel" right lol.
I have had the therion, Triade and efusion Duo. All look like top quality mods and they are finished well but they just don't feel like quality to use, not like a YiHi, dicodes or provari.
BUT lost vape mods are much cheaper and I'd say very good value for money.

I see that Varitube has 3 new SX'x on his website. None are available and the top one is $239 but it makes me mad after witing this long for the Q to come out with 3 more that fast just to beat the deadline. I like my Q's a lot and I see you can get them at 101Vapes for 179. I am hoping I don't have problems with my batteries on the Therion. I was only able to get 1 since they sold out of the Red I got the last one with the 20% off $104. Origin Vapes has a Limited Edition with a sort of braided Italian leather and Walnut but they won't even let you use the discount code for 6% off so it's $129.95. So far they are the only ones that have them.

My mistake the best one is $299 a little over the top in my opinion.
It certainly has what will be one of, if not the best board around and the beautiful colour screen too is going to up the price but yeah, $299 certainly isn't cheap, especially considering its made of zinc alloy, let's just hope the final version is worth it.

The therion is a lovely mod, in the price range lost vape beat the competition, for example far nicer and better quality than the hcigar stuff. I hope you get a gooden and enjoy it mate.
Kind of miss mine looking at my pic, I nearly kept it and just used on board charging but the mushy fire button bugged the hell out of me.

I imagine the screen and the stainless steel case is what makes the G+ cost so much.
If you look on Vapin art, they list the spider Web as a cover so sounds promising there will be some cool designs and we can switch them out, that's pretty cool! :thumb:

Knowing Yihi, the top cap/510 will be stainless aswell as the spiderweb or cover, ill be very happily surprised if the rest of the mod isn't all zinc alloy, either way, ss or zinc alloy it's going to be a heavy lump, I wish the main body/shell would be aluminium like on the dicodes with the rest in stainless steel. That 550 board though, oooooh it looks epic!

Have you seen the vid of it in action? :w00t:

I didn't realize the web cover could be switched out. That's pretty cool. :thumb:

Yes I saw Perry's video on FB of the screen and it looked impressive. I also like the joystick control. I'm looking forward to it coming out.

I wonder what that piece of silver metal is for?

I posted a video from SX Mini web site which showed the Q without the silver metal piece. Not sure what the final version is and what the silver piece is for.....

Was looking on SX Mini web site and it shows the SX-Q and the specifications say it uses the 450J board. I'm confused.... anybody know for sure as I thought it had the 550J board...

Yeah, I bailed on them myself. No Q. I bought a 2 DNA200 mods and a tank for the price of a single Q when it was released. My Ms and MLs are in my emergency storage box.
Don't see the big difference in the build quality myself. Plus, if you are going to buy a new device when they are released, why worry? Me, I keep things and still have an old Sigelei 50W box.
I kinda like the EScribe software, but I didn't have a problem with the SXi_Q software either.
Price is what did it for me, no way the device is worth the asking price to me.

I was never really able to get the Windows software to do anything more useful than update the firmware of the YiHi devices so I can't comment on that part.

Someone in another thread asked me how my new mod vaped compared to a "Q".

My response was rather simple - most of the "big guys" can deliver a decent TC vape these days. Really its all about pricing, packaging and delivery now.

The Joytech (Wismec, eLeaf, Joytech) I think win hands down for menu systems. After they got the bugs out of the VTC Mini they cloned the chip/screen/software across a number of their business units and product lines and outside of some folks having issues with the 510 connectors, their products are fairly solid.:thumb:

The worse menu system is a toss up between the YiHi chips and DNA ones. While using a YiHi I tend to set and forget the temperature setting they still have it buried in a submenu! At least the user can turn the YiHi devices off as the DNA devices are always on. Who ever came up with the gawd awful button press mess on the DNA's ought to have their head examined!

So if I lock my up/down temperature setting the buttons are still active but now accidental presses change profiles? Let us not forget that a Winderz computer is just about required to fully enjoy a modern DNA chipped device.:nah:

Dicodes and SXK are other oddities. While the mods can deliver a decent vape, the menu systems are not on the top of my list for best implementation.

But seriously, outside of "SX Pure", there is really little new in the vaping industry. Adding Bluetooth might free the mods from using a Winderz computer to configure the mod.

Presently my current favorite in my mod rotation is the inexpensive Wismec TC100. A fraction of the price of a YiHi chipped device and works well. No it does not have different preheats or programmable "profiles", just 3 easily accessible TCR settings.

While there generally always is a YiHi powered device in my mod rotation they no longer are the ones I grab first. I think many of the other mod makers have caught up and in some ways surpassed what YiHi provides.

Ya gotta admit, that RED paint job on the "Q" is outstanding!

Lots of improvements on various devices but not much new... SX Pure is a mystery so only new thing I am already using is the Wismec NotchCoil... I read your opinion and you certainly are entitled to it. Really, the device that "floats one's boat" is the best one.

Vaper (A) loves Device XXX and Vaper (Y) loves Device YYY. Which one is the best?

    BOTH.....

Jumped on board on got a Q. Coming from DNA200s I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about. It's a nice smooth vape as I would expect from a dc-dc boost/buck chipset but can someone please tell me why it takes a full 2 seconds for this thing to wake up and fire at my power setting? I mean geeez folks, what in the world is it doing for those 2+ seconds? I guess I just want instant gratification, dna200 style. Is there a setting I can change to make it fire faster on wake up?

Also, does powerful+ add power or just ramp up faster than powerful?

From my understanding it's not DC-DC it's PFM. I think the G+ is going to be DC-DC from what I've read.

    Cheers,

The boards do DC-DC in Power mode, PWM (pulse width modulation) in TC mode.

I've only used my YiHi chipped devices in TC mode. While I generally don't fire with very many Joules, the SXmini's fire instantly.

The Soft, Regular, Powerful and Powerful+ sort of control the ramp and overshoot of whatever Joules setting your using.

UNLIKE DNA type devices, many of us use the joules to control the TC ramp. To low of a joules/(might as well be called watts but that is how YiHi defines it) setting and it might take to long to get up to temperature.

To high of a setting and you may very well get the famous 'pulsing' or 'rattlesnaking' that YiHi's are known for or simply overdrive your build and get "DRY COIL" message and no vapor! Again, unlike DNA type devices you can't just crank the joules up to maximum and hope for a good vape. (like PB consistently does in his ill fated videos)

I set the joules just high enough so that it reaches the TC set point in < 1sec and once it reaches temperature the mod holds it fairly well. To high of a setting and you will see the temperature indication fluxuating wildly 40-50F or more.

The output in Joules mode is generally lower than it is in power mode.

Nevermind, my Q class is defective. I'm being told by my local b&m that there should be no delay on wake up and 30min ago it got stuck on the error message "Too hot wait 10s". Powered off and on removed batts and no change. I'll get it exchanged with another.

Thanks George, I pretty much knew what to expect with joules and like you I only run the initial/max joules/watts high enough to reach temp in under 1 sec. Until the error message appeared it vaped great after the initial 2 sec wait.

I'm sorry to hear that it sounds like you got a defective one.
