Here's my latestest creation...
Had a friend give me a leaking T2 (also cracked tip) a while back and since I couldn't stop the leaking (had a crack at the base), I ripped it apart and kept the top and bottom caps. Yesterday I got inventive and decided to build a stainless steel tank. I used an old tube from a spent battery to use as the tank.

I left it soak in acetone overnight to remove the paint and dissolve any nasties left inside the tube. Placed the tube in boiling distilled water for about 15 minutes and proceeded to assemble. The bottom cap with the post fit fairly well, but the top cap was just a wee bit narrower in diameter than the tube. I pressed the tube into an old cone to neck down the tube a bit so that I could get it started and press fit it together in a vice. Worked very well.

I then took an old cartomizer condom and placed it over the base as a seal. I press fitted the tube onto the base and it was done!

It is not as easy to tell when it is low (as compared to a clear tank) but the fact that I can use all the flavors that might normally leech, cloud or crack a plastic tank outweighs this. It is rebuildable and should last a lifetime.
Can't wait for another T2 to crack so I can build another one!:p

By the way, it has long wicks and holds about 3ml of liquid since the walls of the tube are so thin.
