Lightening vapes has 38/36 kanthal / stainless / combo Clapton wire for you mouth to ling vapers. I'm testing a kanthal kanthal build in the gem right now and tonight he taifun gt2 gets stainless core kanthal wrapped coil. Should be able to work 8-9 wraps in there for a ton of surface area.

Give it a look if Clapton frustrates you due to lengthy heating time and such. This stuff heats up very quickly for Clapton and the flavor so far is great.

Here's the gem build. For those of you familiar with how small the deck is. This is a .7 build using kanthal / kanthal

It's not cheap - $10/15 ft. Mouth to ling vapers can get by with about six inches per coil. Also for those unfamiliar these coils can be dry burned and reused a lot more than standard coils.

Just figured it may be of interest. I'll post my taifun build in a bit. For those who like stainless you want to get kanthal wrapped if you make contact coils. If you get stainless wrapped stainless you'll need to make a spaced coil or risk major hot spot issues.

alright Taifun peeps, need help. I bought a massive amount of these
$12.99 Replacement Base + Chimney for Taifun GT-T V2 (2-Pack) - stainless steel at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
grabbed one tonight and have built it about 10 times. At first it kept reading 'atomizer low" then it read 'too hot"
I am trying it on my Vaporflask Lite, which is working with all other atty's.
Does it have a short and do I just toss it or is there something I can do?

Ime the authentic tai fun is mediocre for temp control and the clone is absolute,y awful. I gave up on it for that reason alone. But I gather others have had better luck. Don't drive yourself crazy though with the split base of the cline and a low quality metal, screw I wouldn't count on good resistance transmission. You may be able to get better screws to solve the issue.

Speaking of which. Where can I get some good screws to fit the authentic gt2 ? Their replace went screw pack is now universal and it costs like $15 shipped. The real problem though is that the screws are awful. They're a hair too short. They're way too soft. I had to check four times to make sure my screws were authentic.

So is there some place I can find deck screw dimensions to maybe order some stainless deck screws or for myself and @channelvaps is there a third party clone screw pack that uses good material ?

I can't stand smokerstore as a vendor. I can't give them any more money. I have to find another source for screws that last longer than the authentic screws 6 month max.

Thanks all!!!

that is how I got my original results. I never attach all the rest until I check it. I got many "low atomizers' without well and cap. Tried to rebuild many times and got the same 29 gauge wire on 2.0 rod
It sounds like maybe the the base is shorted. Once I had a sliver of metal where the small 510 spring sits inside, I scraped around with a nettle and found it, just saying. There might be something inside also, I have seen that once as well.

Bought some new stuff, a few more Lemo's, some Subtank Mini's, then built them a few different ways. Then I bought a Hexohm. It came in the mail yesterday. Vaped on it a bit yesterday and today. Now I am back to my Vaporflask Lite with a Taifun 2 and my Taifun eye w/a Taifun 2 at my desk. So much for veering off the beaten path. I will use all my other stuff but none of seemed any better than my usual rigs (above)

It's hard to find "better" when you already have excellent gear.

There are lots of levels of vaping, once get on that upper level the differences are so incrementally small it's hard to say "this is so much better". Been there done that.

I've tried to regulate my buying to either things I've always wanted or wanted to try, or things I like... And of course there's always the deal that was too good to pass up, which is how I ended up with so many dna200 devices. LOL [emoji23]

Taifun GTII Air, I never quite understood how it differs from the GTII besides appearance. The drip tip at it's bottom, the chimney tube and the air outlet under the coil is the same size. It does have more air inlets on the base but a few of us cut slits into the base of the GTII and it made little to no difference. I measured 10% increase using a gravity water flow test. So maybe they have more air paths running through the deck to the air outlet or larger ones. This lead me to bring out my Dremel and increase those air channels some more, I did a little there before. Threw on my Merlin's drip tip and I am vaping away on it.
I did this with a Hotcig GTII S which has a removable deck BTW

It has been quite a while since I have used this, quite refreshing...LOL

Are you saying skip the air? Since I already about 8-10 GTII's?

Pretty much echoed my opinion on the Air, doubt it will be much different then the 2, but it is new and is shiny, and since I have all the rest what the hey.... Besides my feeble attempts at buying less gear went out the door many moons ago. I guess that may be the only good to come from our over-reaching gov when it saves me from shinytitus.

Of all my attys, the taifun(s) and kayfun(s) got the most use time to date.

I've liked the look of all the taifun thus far. And still think the KFL (& 3.1) are maybe the nicest looking. The KF4 was good looking and more practice, though my three got very little use. I've been using the kf5 for the past couple of days, the flavor is good the draw is only barely acceptable TO ME YMMV.

My GS's are excellent draw and good in flavor...the gt2 probably has better flavor but its a marginal difference. (goes back to what I said earlier. After a certain level the differences are marginal)

I emailed Doris at focal, she said they were in the process of getting the airs. Maybe within a week?

Advantages to focal are name of manufacture, logos (yeah I'm that guy). Fasttech is usually cheaper though.

I've waited this long, I doubt another week will matter.
