I have bought six, one is authentic and five are clones. HCigar and Winstone are my favorites - I now no longer remember or can tell which is the authentic. One Fasttech fell apart shortly after arrival so I use five for different flavors. I have a few of the smaller tanks from Fasttech. I brew my own juice and like to switch out a lot. I find the Taifun GT to be the easiest and quickest build I have. Most of the other nicotine dispensers just get dusted occasionally. The exception is an Orchid V2 that I like quite well, however, it is a little tricky to wick with without leaks but the flavor delivered is excellent.

Ok, so I did my first build on the Taifun GT (HCigar)...

I don't know. It tastes 'funny'. Can't explain how exactly. Metallic, bitter, dark, toasted? This Halo Prime 15 tastes 'bright' and slightly sweet in my Nautilus with BVC coils. The taste was similar on a carto tank, but not quite as bright, but on this TFGT its different.

The pull is really stiff. I'm getting enough air, but not for my tastes. Not getting the amount of vapor I expected. It's about the same as the Nautilus. I don't have another tube, so I might just pull this one out and try it without it.

It reads 1.3 ohms. At 3.4 volts on my provari, that should be almost 9 watts. I used to run the BVCs at 9 watts, and I just got a better vape, true they burned up in a day, but I got a better vape while it lasted.

I did 8 wraps of what I think might be 28 gauge (the vendor didn't label the bag and I got 26, 28, 30, and 32 gauge) on a 3/32" drill bit. The wraps touch as best I could make them. I dry burned it for a second or two maybe dozen times to oxidize it as I read. I then slipped in enough rayon that it sorta squeeked (cellucotton from Sally's), trimmed the ends, juiced, and tested. It made vapor, so I filled the tank and vaped. Weird taste.

Also, isn't the little cup around the deck supposed to click up and down? It goes down, but doesn't really seem to want to stay up. I had to hold it in place as I screwed the cap on, and while building I just pulled it off, since it had already almost come off when I was trying out raising and lowering it.

Sorry I did not mean to offend you I just saw you said you made your first build on it.New RDA/RBA's usually have machine oil left behind and need cleaning first.

So I may have been vaping machine oil? Great. That doesn't sound healthy. Ok, I'll go give it a throuogh cleaning. Anything else might be the issue? Does my coil and wick look right?

Replace the o-ring on the top of the deck under the sliding sleeve with a 12 x 1 mm o-ring

OK... Thoroughly cleaned this thing till I was sick of it. Dish washing liquid and a tooth brush for basically an hour, until the smell went away. I have become Soap. I ride a pale horse and cleanliness follows with me. ;)

It's MUCH better. I swear I can still taste it though. Does it just take time for it to go away?
Sounds about the norm, a couple of tanks later it should be gone.
Also it may be possible that you need 11 x 1 mm o-ring instead of 12 mm, They appear to be putting on 10 x 1 mm which is too small. Some are pretty tight with the 12.

Good to know, on both issues.

Also, not to sound paranoid, but vaping a bit of machine oil isn't harmful in some way is it? Anyone know what its made of?

I have made the mistake of vaping before cleaning my new gear, and I'm still here. It's a common mistake. As mentioned, it can take a few mils of vaping for the taste to completely straighten out, and then you have one of the best RTA vapes out there. Also, you can easily vape the GT at higher watts than clearos or cartos, and you will get more vapor, and a better taste as well. While many vape their GT's at much higher watts, my juice seems to taste best around 11 or 12 watts with my 1/16" microcoil and KGD. YMMV. :2c: :toast: :D

A good cleaning does wonders. It's not a bad thing to have a PGA on hand (pure grain alcohol). Vodka is a reasonable substitute. A standard soap clean and rinse is a good thing, but alcohol will act as a solvent and may help release any lingering bad tastes. I have been building my GT coils between 0.9 and 1.3 ohms. I use a larger diameter 2.3 or 2.4 mm screwdriver. A 3/32's drill bit would be about 2.38 mm, so in between those two. Always 26 gauge kanthal A1 with 7-10 wraps. The 1.3 build I have now is the highest I've gone, and it's not quite as nice. 1.0 ohms is a sweet spot for me. Oh and I yanked out the airflow tube - I had the same complaints about airflow when I first got mine. It's worked great since. Rarely do I get any juice obstructing airflow, and never had any leaks. Good luck and congrats on the purchase.

Unlike Roxy I like to crank the wattage on the Nicoticket. With a 1.0 ohm coil I turn 'er up to 25 watts and let it rip. Awesome sauce. :)
