Taifun GT Discusion!

So while taking apart my Taifuns to replace all Orings I came upon the reason that one is not working as good as the other.
When I take out the screw at the 510 connecion to replace that Oring one has a spring down in there that came out when I took the screw out. I replaced the oring and put it all back in. screw and spring. The other did not have a spring.No spring. Anybody know how to get one?

I just got another TGT from Taifun GT Style Rebuildable Atomizer (5.0mL) Black four days after placing the order. Has been working fine with a 1.3 ohm coil at about 20 watts. Not a cloud chucker but the flavor is great using KGD cotton wick. Been through a couple of tanks+ with no issues.

This weekend, I may try a coil in the .8 range using 26 0r 28 gauge kanthal.

I have packs of springs of all sizes. They are inexpensive in sets, or you can just make one. It is just a coiled wire after all.

I believe that the spring is to help keep the screw in it's "adjusted " position so when screwing the atty on the mod the screw resists being turned.

No on the Kanthal, needs to be fairly high carbon steel, tempered after formed.

I've read a lot that people are cutting open old coax cable (like for TVs) for the inner wire to make springs. Or you could get phosphor bronze wire from Etsy.

So what do you guys think of the GTs that have resurfaced at FT? I'm thinking of buying a black Caravela clone (23mm) and will more than likely be needing one of these to go with it.

Piece of cake. Dig out that coax. See the copper wire that pokes out of the connector? Slit the insulator open to get that wire out, or cut a small length of cable (long enough for your spring) and try to yank the middle wire out with pliers (haha like pulling teeth ). Then it's just like wrapping a coil, but with the perfect wire for a spring.

Initially for my Orchid, but 22mm atty + 23mm mod: you know how that goes...worse the other way around, but still!

Yeah that black one would look great on that mod.
In a moment of panic (when they removed them) I bought 2 Taifuns using the re-order of the one that has yet to get here. That will give me 3 new ones. Might give them for gifts to my two local vapor friends (daughter and BFF) so I can justify buying a black one

Thanks to a very gracious fellow vapor who offered to make me one I will not have to confuse myself with all that. (but thanks for the help )

It's been a year since I visited the thread after the infamous chromegate saga @ FT.

I saw the now pulled GT-S @ FT, had it a few days now 2mm airpipe and AFC is good anyone got any tips for a good build?

You would have to match the gauge to the spring size and material, and I haven't done that on this device. I have made plenty of springs though in my life, mostly with smaller gauge wire.

I mainly use an 8/9 wrap with 29 gauge in a tensioned micro coil. About 1.3 ohms. I usually vape mine around 11-12 watts. The great thing about the Taifun, though, is that it will accommodate many different builds, including mesh. The SuperX microcoil discussion is useful here on ECF for unlimited ideas. Good luck!
