While pictures would be nice, sorry not this time. Here is a brief description of how I set up my GS'. I install the coil at an angle like the kayfun manual says, this makes for super short legs. The rayon wick drops down to the well and it's tails ends on the other side of the well. My mesh straws are the same diameter (approx) inside and out as the supplied PFTE ones and are long enough to reach the bottom of the well and sit in the end of the wick's tail.
This has been working really well for me. Got to make sure the end of the straw is touching the wick good or some leakage may occur.
I almost made my mesh straws as big as the PFTE wicks, but I left mine a little longer to push a little into my cotton. It's amazing how forgiving this thing is :) I really enjoy everything about it and have been using it solely since I received it

After 2 years vaping with aspire bvc coils, today I got a brand new Taifun GT 2 original. Everything is awesome. However I have two issues would like to ask,

1. Sore throat and some hurting in my throat. I always vape 12mg but was using Aspire Nautilus bvc coils, I made the same ohm coil 1.6 with my new taifun and used Fiber Freaks no2, using the same watt 11.5w as bvc, the same juice, the problem is i am clearing my throat after 3-4 puffs and my throat is sore. Is it because of the nicotine or the wick ? I believe it will be the same with cotton ? If it is nicotine should I get 9mg or 6mg, it will be hard to find 9mg. I do make my own juices as well but i have some brands that i also like.

2. I dont get the same flavor as i get at the first puff. Lets say I left it 15mins when i vape it, the flavor is awesome but after 2-3 puffs the flavor goes almost null. I unscrew the top cap and it is better but not like my bvc coil, is it because I use too much wick ? There was no burnt or dry hit. I also have air reducer placed.

I'm so happy that i dont need to buy those bvc coils and pay 100$ every month now.

Thanks for help folks.

1. Well you might be getting a lot more vapor with each puff, bigger puff = more nic.
Is it spitting?
2. It sounds like too much wick in the slots.

In addition to what dwcraig1 mentioned, I'll add your problem may be mostly caused by low saturation of the wick. The Taifun should easily be able to give you better flavor than the Nautilus. The soreness could be a sensitivity to some burning of the juice/wick. The Taifun can be a little tricky to get wicking properly, Try wicking it like the hurricane method I posted back a couple pages. This method is much more forgiving then when you place the wick tails through the holes in the chamber, and should insure well saturated wick, which leads to the best flavor possible.

There was no spitting but I changed the wick from fiber freak to cotton and now using much less cotton and flavor is the same on every puff now, I guess its not the fiber freak it is the amount of wick also no more sore throat now. Yes I'm getting a lot more vapor and flavor as well.

I have one more issue last now, when I use 70pg 30vg liquid (FP CL), at the first puff there is a micro explosion, why is that happening ? It only happens at first puff and goes away at the second puff. But I hate when it does that.

I'm going to try your method to see my friend, it looks like it was a low saturation as i'm fine with using less cotton now, except the micro explosion at the first puff. Thanks.

Not exactly sure what causes the pops on atomizers, maybe a bit of a hot leg? Anyhow, I have a Delta II, bought an RBA head for it, tried the included build, every single time I would pick it up, Bang! but only on the first puff, and only after it sat for a minute our two. Kinda why I'm thinking hot leg. Resolving was easy, build a new coil, rewick, has not done it again since.

Since you reduced the amount of cotton, possibly you have a tiny bit of coil that has poor contact with the wick, I'd do a rewick again, if that doesn't fix it, I'd recoil, and wick again.

Nice troll dragon! I may get one a little later, like them! You do know Joyetech has an upgrade available for the firmware, guess it adds some features, think it was just released so yours may not have it yet.

OK, I rewicked the GSL and this time used mesh straws as my wicking method, with the SS feeding the cotton (I also put some extrra cotton in the wells). All I can say is WOW. I'm not going back to the cotton pad method, or the PTFE wicks. OK actually I can't go back to the PTFE tubes because I destroyed them when removing them, they are too mangled. This thing now outperforms any other atty I own, including the GT-II and my beloved Erlkonigin. I thought the more airflow you have, the less flavour you get, but I'm running the GSL with max airflow and the flavour is stunning. Smokerstore really did hit it out of the ballpark.

Thanks cc, that was the first thing I did.
Then I was onto trying to get Rayon into an Ni200 spaced coil, I need to get some Ti for sure.

I though how great the Rose V2 would be with TC. It would look excellent configured with the SS tank, but trying to get an NI200 28g coil installed and wicked would be an exercise in futility. :shock:

Yes looks like a hot leg, I will recoil today. By the way, I should really lower the nicotine. Yesterday night was fine with 12mg but in the morning after 3 puffs, I was high like drunk and my head was turning so much lol. It reminded me my tobacco smoke years. :D It is strange, I vape 12mg 2 years with bvc coils. It looks like my nicotine levels are somehow getting low and taifun gives exactly 12mg nicotine with a beast power even on 1.6 ohm.

@jhelliwell,
My friend I dont remember where I read about it but there is a risk of chromium oxide with mesh which is carcinogen. I recomemnd you to check about it.

Excellent, glad its working for you!
Everything is okay but I'm having a short life wick issue. I dont know what is the problem but after a day, especially in the morning the flavor is gone and I have to re-wick. The pictures are below, high wattage ? I was using 12.5 and 13w at 1.78ohm and 1.8ohm. I just re-wick with fiber freaks no2 and will stay on 11w to see how it will be tomorrow.

There was no burnt or dry hits, feeding was perfect, infact there was too much feeding and it leaked in the morning. But looks like cotton is burnt in a day. Do you guys change the wick everyday ?

I'm on tank 4 or 5 with the current wick, running a 3mm .6 316 stainless build @20 watts, still no loss of flavor, and its a fairly dirty juice which usually turns everything black after a few tanks. If your getting some leaking after sitting you probably don't have enough cotton, possibly up the size of your coil so you can have a bit larger wick in it.

The wick in your picture looks very thin to me, very compact, and uniform, maybe slighly burnt. Difficult to judge without some size reference. If your using a 2mm coil I've found that is just to small for most tanks, 2.5mm is the smallest I use now days, but prefer 3mm if the atomizer has enough room for it.

Another consideration, the resistance, and power your running at, what size wire are you running? You have nearly 5 volts going to your coil, I'm guessing .28gauge, or maybe even smaller? If your wire is to thin you may just be cooking off your juice.

More details on your build please, some pics of the finished build would also be helpful.

Here is the details;

28 Gauge Temco Kanthal
Vaporshark rdna40
Using 2.5mm always
Juice: 70PG / 30VG
I just made a new one 7 wraps, the result is 1.55ohm. 11w and tried 12w. At 12w flavor goes away %40-%50 and less vapor. If I go lower than 11.5, I feel a raw vapor + throat harsh. Looks like the cotton I use is less and juice is frying, because I get a hard throat hit. This could be also why my poor wick is dead in a day :D ?. I will make a new wick now with more cotton to see and i will take a picture too.

Thank you for helping me :)
