I have been trying to get the machine oil flavor out of my taifun gt3 mini clone with no luck. I have soaked it in hot water with dish soap multiple times and now even rubbing alcohol and I can still taste it. Which is a bummer because I got the MTL insert and I am really loving the way it vapes but that slight machine oil flavor is just killing it for me 8( any tips anyone

I found the majority of the offending material inside the sleeve of the positive post's sleeve and on the screw's threads, the negative post also but lesser.
I twist up a piece of paper towel and keep twisting it into the sleeve till it comes out clean. I was really surprised just how dirty it was after thinking my initial cleaning was good enough.
That's funny I bought that kit to make my authentic smaller, then realised I could make two taifun but it tastes like a garbage truck

I finally got the taste out of it but I had to completely disassemble the deck o rings posts 510 insulator and all. I tried someone's recommendation of denture cleaner tabs and then a hot water soak with light dish soap and then another hot water soak and finally..... FINALLY it's gone 8)

anyone tried the steam tuners gt3 drop kit??I am sorely tempted. The original is a monster!
Thought about it, but it was way cheaper to get the mini clone for the parts and just frankenstein my authentic... Only thing is the deck parts smell like a garbage truck. This is what it looks like with the mini tank...

Flavor/warmth are much better imo.

Does anyone know where I can source an AF restrictor for my tg lll clones I have the sxk mini one. It is much to loose if a draw for me

Not worth it, I have the peek one and it's basically the same thing as the positive insulator.

I've had the SXK Mini for about a month, was very clean when it arrived, no gunk, no machine oil at all, machining is flawless, solid 510 pin, no adjustment, no spring, flawless in temp mode, pin protrudes about perfect length. Flavor better then the full size. All parts interchange with the Eyecotech clone.

you guys arent doiing a good job of selling this clone...lol

It's terrible lol. Smells like a gas station mechanic.

I have the sxk one as well, the only usable part is the tank and chimney, had to put the o-rings from my authentic though.

Afterwards though it's flavor country. The chimney on the clone is about as short as it can be, as opposed to my authentic one, which is just about the longest chimney I've ever seen. Tolerances seem to be just as tight as my authentic.

I take a lot of flights for work & tried a lot of atties, this atty is actually the only one I'll fly with, for some reason it just works and I don't have to put it in a plastic bag or have it leak all over my pocket.

Btw I did the rinse again, mouthwash and then a soak for a few hours with dish soap, now it tastes like mouthwash and dish soap. lol... oh well at least I still have my frankenstein one.

at least you got the stink out, the parts left over from my sxk one still smell like an oily dumpster. I only bought this one bc it was the only one in 316 SS.
I'm gonna try soaking the parts again, maybe try longer. when I smell the O-rings I get that oily trash smell more than anything else but I just don't understand how a few O-rings are causing it to taste so awful.

I seem to have better then usual luck on my purchases, like I said mine was clean enough to use straight from the box, even so a tooth brush and dish soap is my usual routine. Of the approximately 400 atomizers I've collected I've only had one so dirty I gave up on it, that was an authentic, never could get all the oil taste out of the base.

I will say China is certainly not the only atty makers that don't bother doing a thorough cleaning. You'd think for the price of the average authentic they could at least do that. For me its been about 50/50 on clean or not whether clone or authentic, though most have gotten much better about it over the last year or so.

You would probably find a big dollop of grease inside the base if you were to tap it apart.

I've taken some really dirty attys, broken them down completely including screws, o-rings, posts and everything that can possibly come off. Put all the bits in a small container, shake a generous quantity of baking soda on all the parts and pour in some white vinegar. Agitate till the effervescence stops, rinse in clean water and repeat. A final rinse in hot water and a thorough drying has cleaned up the nastiest of China taste for me.

There are some o-rings and insulators they use over there that have a very distinct car tire smell, this will not come out no matter how much you try. Throw those o-rings away and replace them with better ones.

What part of the base? I'm not just soaking it I'm taking it to bits and going over everything with a toothbrush w/ dish soap on it. Then I soak it. Done that like 6 times at least.

Does the base come totally apart or is it press fit together?
There could be something inside that you can't see and rinsing/soaking will not get rid of.

You might have to tap it apart like I did with my press fit GS II.

It's slightly different, there's 4 peek insulators at the top and a Teflon one under, it comes apart but you have to put some elbow grease into it.

It's a little different from the authentic one I have too.

Unlike TGT1 & 2 ....TGT3 completely disassembles.
