I'm a simple guy, run down to my choice of vape shops in town and pick up what ever I need. Now I watch video after video on rebuildables and get all hyped up about them and can't find one. More first choice is the GG Penelope but they look to months out. Any recommendations of a good durable one I can throw in my pocket that might be in stock in the US?

IMO, GG rebuildable products are too complicated to be beginner-friendly, plus they're overpriced and never available. If you must have something that's expensive and ultra-high quality, you might have to order from overseas, somewhere like mmvapors.com (the DiD, Temon), or you might have to put your name on a list and/or wait for things to be in stock- sometimes a month, sometimes longer.

For a beginner, the best thing to do is to get a higher-quality chinese unit, like the AGA-T or DiD clone. If you want a dripping atty, there are many more choices out there for those, and most of them work great. With rba's the vape has much less to do with the quality of the unit and how much you paid for it, and much more to do with how you set it up. The only exception to that is hybrids, which at the moment are ALL expensive, but NOT all equal in performance.

if you like the GG system, it cant be beat, yes, they are costly, yes they require being at the computer searching the classifieds, but if you want to try that type of atty, you cant go wrong with the Ody clone over at stormys vapor celler. I have an Odysseus and the terminator and they are both equally amazing and simple to set up. Good quality stainless steel, well machined and they are interchangeable in all the parts. I think the pre-order on now for the Terminator, shipping the 20th. 60 dollars is not overpriced for the performance and quality of thi item. Heavy , all stainless except for the o-rings. I love them both and the taste, vapour and performance of them cant be faulted.

There are tons of reviews and opinions on this forum on RBAs. They span a huge range, from the more affordable ones to really pricey wait list only items. Maybe it would help if you share with us what kind of price point you're looking at?

Whichever you choose though, be prepared for a lot of tinkering and possible frustration, unless you're one of the lucky few that get it right off the bat. I'm 2 weeks on and off into this and man, it can be an exercise in frustration sometimes. But I'm still hopeful that I'll get it right one of these days. There's always the next build to look forward to :vapor:

It will be a learning curve for sure just like with everything. I have build box mod and flashlight mods so this should just be about time taken. As for dollar amount I'm willing to pay what I have to for a good unit. But as posted earlier I have a shop manager here local that has a large collection of a bit of everything willing to let me try a few out.

Where do you find a real DID and how much is it. Thank you

i own a couple of real dids, cant beat them, but the aga-t is not bad at all. and cheap to. i own one and really like it. i tried a did clone and didnt like it. but with any genesis atty, there is a learning curve so get ready. but once you get it there is no better. good luck

The Penelope is really not that hard to set up if you follow Scott B, or igetcha69's setup video and just follow along with what he does. It will actually be a lot easier to setup than a genesis because you don't have to oxidize mesh or worry about shorts. I love mine and as stated earlier in the thread the biggest advantage over a genesis is it's pocket friendly all the time. It's now all I carry out with me to work and such.

Got my DID clone this morning came home got it setup worked out the hot spots, but couldn't get a good wicking going. So I fiddled around some more got a few good hits and lost the wicking again. So I set it down and will run out this evening and pick up some 400. Pulling good ohms and no error code nor hot spots. At least I'm on my way.

A sometimes overlooked aspect to good wicking is "air return" back into the tank. If you haven't already, try running with the "fill screw" out. Also, I tend to roll my wicks so that there is a lot of room between the wick and wick hole.....this will also help with air return and aid in wicking. Wicking will also tend to improve once the wick is a lil more seasoned. One way to expedite this is to turn the mod over and let the juice cover the wick while firing the coil, this will help get a good juice buildup on the wick and coil.

I'm in Dallas also, lemme know if ya want a hand gettin it perfect.

DID from Greece is a great chioce. I am new to the whole mogilla been off the ck's for almost four months and have run the gamit of micro's from the mall, inferno and lavatube with tanks (flooding drove me nuts), and finally ended up with a provari and several DIDS. I am done until something which breaks new ground. The DID takes some time not much to get the hang to a degree that you achieve vaping satisfaction. I am in the learning curve but satisfied totally. If you have the cash get quality stuff because frustration is expensive, time wasted with marginal gear can never be reclaimed. If you order on a saturday your new stuff arrives following weds or thurs, get pyrex tanks at IBtanked and mesh from grainger. Good luck.

Fixed my no wicking problem. Mesh not rolled tight enough and too tight in the hole. Re-rolled it, next time ill just trash it and roll a new one. Made another coil no problems, head out for my honey do's, tank ran great till about 4pm ( made it around 7am ) went to take a hit after I got done in Sam's and it E1 error coded on me. I opened her up and the wick moved and made contact with the center post. I have no clue how I managed to do that but it did. A genisis style might be better used in house for me not on the go. Thing ill wait for the Penelope to set my punched cartos down while out and about.
