i like using the MAP tank on mine, i don't mind the black, but for anyone reading this thread, i tried using a Smoktech tank on my P+18650 and it sits flush, closing off the air passage.

same went for my P16340

if i back it off slightly, it is too loose and doesn't make contact...

That's why I cut the tank down to use the Boge Cartos. No flange on the bottom of the tank now.

Edit: I see what you mean, I use the cartos without the flange, there tighter then the stock carto to put in but they work. Like Strprw said you can cut them down and use the Boge's too

Call out to all tank makers, please consider putting a channel in the bottom caps. A simple ball end mill machined in about .030 deep across the entire bottom face will make a sufficient groove in your bottom cap and allow air flow to reach the juice well on all mods that are tight.

I have considered trying that....The problem with some of these tanks is the o ring is very close to the bottom of the lower cap.

It's not problem, just milled one now. Please feel free to share this picture and specs with all tank manufacturers:

Bit: 5/16 Ball end Mill or a two or four fluted flat end mill
Depth: .020

They may even consider adding another groove to make a "+" on it. Then you could probably decrease the depth even more, maybe to .015 or even .010 may be sufficient and eliminate any concerns about Oring groove interferance.

i like the idea David, will use it if it is ever needed.

the problem i have with the SmokTech, is that bottom metal lip that is part of the carto and not the tank portion. this is what causes the air seal.

but the way i see it, it is the companies fault for trying to make a carto/tank combo that is proprietary.
i can see these not working on many mods... not just the Precise lineup.

there are many other options out there that look better on my Precise, so ill just stick with them.

Are you sure that metal is making a seal, i have increased the size of the well, could you spec the OD of that metal base of that Carto/atomizer? It should fit down in the well no problem with no airflow problems on the cartomizer/atomizer portion, the tank part however, will need grooves.

On the Smoketech it is definitely the metal flange on the carto that restricts the airflow. You can use other cartos in the tank that will solve the problem.

the tank isn't mine, but i test fit the carto only without the tank to make sure, and that lip looked to be about 0.5-1mm over the well of the P+, i don't think it would be difficult to take a Dremel and notch that overhang, i could have just as easily used a different carto on that tank to make it work properly.

I understand why they designed the tank/carto the way they did, and it is a good idea.
The extra lip is there to keep the carto from sliding too far into the tank, that paired with a wide drip tip and the tank wont go anywhere.
But it just isnt as universal as other similar products out there. well not for my needs anyway.

the next time i am over his house, i will take pictures and use a caliper to measure out that protruding lip.

Thanks BuzzKilla. Why did they go so damn big on that flange? To stop it from sliding over, they only need to make it like .005 oversize and it would have been more than sufficient of a lip to keep the tank from sliding down! Darn backyard poorly planned engineering....

Is that smoketech pictured only for use in tanks?

yes, the carto pictured is designed with a lip at the bottom that protrudes beyond the diameter of the carto itself. this lets the base of the tank fit over it to keep the tank from sliding down.

* edited* the base of the tank is recessed(well my friends was) so when fully assembled the flange sits flush within the tank.

The flange is there to stop the tank from sliding down...but the fit is tight enough that I don't see a problem using other cartos either.

I fully understand that they increased it's size so that it doesn't slide down, but that would have only required about .005 over stock and it would have been plenty of lip and wouldnt' have impeded airflow. Sounds like they made that lip some outrageous .050 or so over what it was, way more then necessary.

Anyone who has one of these and a capliper, ifyou could shoot me the dimensions of that rim when you get a chance, it would be truly appreciated :)
