Not sure if I'm posting in right group-but my tank (similar to map tank) has a buildup on the coils...I tried dry burning but they r still there. Been using clear, unsweetnd juice...is there anything ii can do 2 get gunk off? I tried scraping w/toothpick but only succeeded n ripping a coil loose and ruining the ce2 setup (no voltage registering anymore)...

I put a new ce2 unit on and don't want 2 throw away but buildup causing difficult draw-airflow.

Suggestions?

Dry burn is the only cleaning method that really works, you have to continue dry burning in 3 to 5 second burns. Sometimes it takes more than 25 burns, but finally you get a red glow and white ash, blow or brush away the ash and you have a clean coil. I use one of those mini brushes for between the teeth to brush off the ash. Caution, long burns can ruin the coil, but they aren't any good with all the gunk either...

Mine get gross like that too. So far I've been very lucky not to break anything! First I stick em in the sonic cleaner for a few cycles before I start the dry burning. When I finally start to see red glowing, I get out the magnifiers. Then I use a dental pick to pick at the stuff. I run the pick perpendicular to the coil and do my damndest to make sure I'm between the wires as I gently fluff the stuff off. Turn it over and tap it on the desk to make the ash fall off. (I read somewhere not to blow on the hot coil, so I haven't tried that) Repeat as needed until I can clearly see the coils burning freely. I've seen vids where others blow through the batt end to get the ash off, but mine get too hot to put it to my lips. And now that I've posted my contribution-I'm sure to bust the coil on the next one I do....
