I agree with the salesman.

If you handle your vape set-up like any other nick-nack knocking about in your backpack or pocket while leading a moderately active lifestyle your tank will leak...
Maybe I'm rare, but I'm not so attached to the device that I have to have it with me at all times. I can leave it in a car and stuff like that instead of having it in my pocket all the time.

If you're carrying it in a backpack and ...., might as well use an rda.

My first and only experience with Genesis-style tanks was with the AGA-T. The ones that used a metal mesh wick. They leaked if you merely turned it sideways, and you had to do the "Genny Tilt" maneuver to get it to wick. The experience turned me off from rebuildables and I never tried another rebuildable tank until the Kayfun, which used an entirely different and improved design.

I imagine after all of these years, the Genesis-style tanks use an improved design from the early models.

I hear ya Baditude and I agree for those Genisis tanks and they are still like that, but I'm talking about GTA's like the DoggyStyle and the Ehpro True. FT calls these RTA's and they are, but I think of the 'floating' deck design and the style of wick openings used as a GTA. The Digiflavor Siren 2 is actually listed as a GTA.

It would be nice if everyone used the same names for stuff, but that isn't going to happen any time soon

JAFYI...

Way back in the Day, if you ran High VG e-Liquids, you ran a Good Chance of getting Dry Hits. Because atomizers then were designed around people using more PG in their e-Liquids.

Today, if you use High PG e-Liquids, you run a Good Chance of getting Leaking. Because atomizers today are designed around people using more VG in their e-Liquids.

Funny how the Pendulum swings.
And/or heat and pressure. In summer I have to wick a thicker cotton and in winter rayon does the trick. Choose your materials wisely according to temp and pressure.

Took me a while to accept the genesis , gta term. I kept hearing people talk about genesis tanks like the doggy and such and i kept telling them that a genesis is the older tanks that used SS mesh wicks, not these newer tanks that had cotton wicks in the juice...I eventually had to accept that they now call these doggie type tanks genesis tank atomizers, gta, but not in my eyes...I will go as far as stating them as GTA's, but not genesis (although it's kind of the same)

I have a 22mm Zenith tank on a mod sitting on a shelf since I discovered the Zero last October that still has every drop of juice in it.
A 25mm Zenith on an Aegis 100 completely emptied in a few days on the same shelf. It's all about careful reassembly when changing parts.
In the case of Zeniths it's lid needs to be completely closed, which when new parts are so tight fitting it can be very slightly open without knowing it. And the coil pack is a push in type that if not correctly installed also leaks.

Obviously mine that leaks was incorrectly closed or I forgot to dry the seat where the coil pack pushes in before inserting a new coil pack.

Leaving in a hot car can cause internal pressure to build enough to cause leaks as well. Not like it pops, but hot juice gets thinner and can squeeze around o'rings if internal pressure is enough.

Heck, if you look at it realistically every combustion engine is prone to leak as well. Not all will leak but the potential is certainly there.

While I like my very fist top air RTA and it's kind of a difference all the way around, I still had to lean to wick it correctly so it didn't flood. Don't get me wrong, it's nice an yea possibly a bit more leakproof (although my bottom RTAs have all been fine unless I've done something horrendous tot hem. They don't leak either.

I think it's a myth top air atomizers are "better. " Maybe once you know to use them. But really a mouthful of lukewarm eliquid is just as unpleasant at leaking.

Oh, I got it figured out but unless a tank is defective I think about 95% of leaks/other issues are user error personally.
