Hello GG members,

Does anyone know if it is bad to keep the brass tarnished? I like the look of tarnished brass on top of the polished steel on my CoV edition GGTS, it gives it that extra push for a steampunk look.

Also, I would like to thank whoever gave the idea of removing 1 or 2 strands from the wick (the one that goes down the channels). It makes it so much easier to get the ring on the base for the Penelope and it wicks so much better.

The strand idea might be me....had issues and I just stumbled upon it.

The tarnish on brass is basic oxidation--it will not harm it in any way UNLESS it sits for a VERY long time. Tarnish is basically "rust" on non-steel surfaces. It doesn't grow like steel oxidation, but the chemical process is similar.

I'm not one for pristine and polish....love me some used to death stuff.
