Tart and sour = clogged cartos

When the vinegar/lemon juice thread was all the buzz, I tried some lemon juice because I vape a lot of fruit flavors. I had always used malic acid to get that tart note. I found that the LJ clogged my cartos much, much quicker. I figured it was the natural sugars in the LJ.

So I got some Lorann Tart and Sour, which is citric acid and malic acid, figured it'd get me the same results without the clogging. I love the effects of the Tart and Sour, but it's giving my cartos a hard draw after just a few mls. Anyone else notice this?

Back to malic acid and ethyl maltol, the only additives that don't stiffen up my cartos. I gave up Splendex/EzSweetz for the same clogging issues.

Maybe. I really don't know. I just posted a question about carto killing DIY components, and Tart&Sour was on my list of suspects!

That would be awesome, if this is the answer! I started adding the stuff to my juices because it really makes flavors "pop". Does malic only do the same thing?

Are you dissolving the malic acid yourself? Where do you get it from?

I have TPA sour flavor, which is a malic acid dilution. suitable for adding to ejuice. I am pretty sure that it hasn't caused any problems. I like the sour flavor with a sweet flavor, nearly as good as Tart and Sour. I know that ethyl maltol for sweetness seems to be the carto friendliest.

Ive been using the tart and sour for awhile, but havnt ran into any problems (yet). I never used the lemon juice though or the vinegar - was always afraid it was aide in 'spoiling' the juice faster

I killed 2 cartos with 5 drops of T&S in about 8ml of juice. Maybe that was a bit much but it was my first time using a sweetener... How much T&S are you using in your mixes?

I was using quite a bit. I haven't really been measuring it, just dropping it in, but I know I used a lot. It was just so good. I was really looking for that super tangy taste, and it was so good...

You could also try just citric acid and see if it gives the desired results (or close) without clog'n things up. Not sure what the T&S has as a carrier. CA is available at your local grocery store.

Not sure what FSUSA uses in their Super Sour but doesnt give me any issues.

Yep but I guess what I was trying to say is maybe the clogger is the base (carrier) that Lorann uses for the citric & malic.

I getcha. Ingredients: Citric acid, Water, Malic acid, Sodium Citrate.

This really makes me sad to read this I hope I can find a suitable replacement although I use it very sparingly if T & S is adding to my carto issues then I'm gonna try not using it. Unfortunately I really notice if its not used now as far as the finished taste of the juice.
