I just purchased the above starter kit which comes with an iSub G tank with 2 ( 0.5 ) coils inside . I filled it with 100% VG juice , set the variable wattage to 20 ( recommended 20 - 35 , starting @ 25 for use with 0.5 coils . The power is immense compared to the old ( beginner's ) setup I have been using for years but I am not getting the high clouds I thought I would . I have played with the adjustable airflow as well but that does not seem to make a difference. I upped the wattage to 26 but that seemed a bit harsh to me . What is the difference between vaping in wattage mode as opposed to voltage ? I know this is a big leap up for me & it most likely will just take some time to figure out , but if any " master " MVP3.0 pro's out there could offer some advice I would be very grateful :) Also ... not sure what the best charging set up would be ? It came with a USB but I don't usually have a computer running for long periods of time so anyone suggest a good quality adaptor or whatever else I may need ? Thx ...

Been awhile since I've used my MVP 3.0 Pro but I did enjoy the iSub G. You say you're using 100% VG and not getting clouds and also mention dry hits. Might be that the iSub isn't able to wick the VG fast enough.
After I posted this I realized that with the 100 % VG I should be using 2.6 or 2.8 ohms for best results but the tank came with the 0.5 & I was anxious to try it out ... if there would be any other reasons I wasn't getting the big clouds please chime in ! I am loving the power even if it intimidates me a bit ... I imagine sub ohming is better done with a PG/VG mix as well ... if that is what this set is .
Not dry hits ... just harsh ... clouds mediocre ... not the massive ones I expected

Well, the clouds come from the juice vaporizing, if the wick isn't getting enough to the coils, there isn't enough to make the clouds. It will also cause the dry hits, not enough juice in the wick to keep it from burning.

If you've had a couple of dry hits or one will bad one on the coil you're using, you may have already burnt the wick. It's going to be harsh period. I'd suggest changing the coil, make sure you prime it with juice real well and start with a lower wattage setting and work up. See if you can find the point with the wattage is too high for the amount of juice feeding to the wick.

You could try a juice with a lower VG mix just for testing. You could cut your VG with some PG if you have that or you could even use very small amounts of distilled water to thin your juice.

Most people reduce their nicotine concentration by 50% when they move into subΩ vaping. More power, more vapor = more juice/nicotine inhaled.

Priming a Coil

All cotton coils have to be primed well with juice. If they are not primed well the cotton will burn. Once the cotton is burned the burned taste doesn't go away.

To prime the coil, drop 5-8 drops of juice right inside the coil (sometimes less/more depending on the size of the coil head), another drop of juice in all the holes on the side of the coil. I watch the cotton absorb the e-liquid and when it can't hold any more, I put the coil in the base.
  • If Bottom Filling - Fill the tank and then screw the base back onto the tank.
  • If Top Filling (some tanks are top filled) - Screw the tank on the base and then top fill it.
Once you put the tank on the battery give it several unpowered primer puffs. This will make sure the wick is fully saturated.

Rule of Thumb

The rule of thumb for EVERY vape device you'll ever own is the same (when running in power or wattage/voltage mode). Turn your voltage/wattage down, take a few hits, bump it up, couple more hits. Repeat until you find your "sweet spot". If it starts to taste funny, gets too hot or tastes burnt, back it down. Different flavors will have different sweet spots so you just have to experiment.

The trick I use to get my subtank rba's to wick high vg juice actually works on the isub coils as well. Take a spare piece of kanthal if you have it, I use a length of 24g but a safety pin or something like that would work too. Then use it to kinda burrow a hole right through the middle of the cotton. Doesn't need to go all the way through, just enough on both sides so the juice has a hole to crawl into.

Hey thanks LR40K , Susan-S & Maiar !
All works like a charm now ... guess the wicks needed some more priming as you all suggested .
I am absolutely LOVING the MVP3 now & wonder what took me so long to get to this very satisfying level of vaping ! The only drawback is the size & weight ... it is not a " portable " device in my mind so I purchased an Eleaf iStick Pico to travel with but am having problems with it leaking through the air flow holes ... have taken it apart twice & it works just fine for a while before eventually leaking out again . I have everything screwed on tight , am filling it with air flow holes closed so I don't know what else is going on , hmmm ... beginner's learning curve again ?! Any ideas ? PS ... I did lower my nic level :)
