Maybe we skipped the stop cutting corners part. :)
Iv'e got plenty of sub @$100 mods...... Most are sub $50 and all have done as advertised.
Dozens of Mechs under $30:lol: and all good mods.

Now, looking at the list of features offered in the SX mini, the 1yr warranty, the Upgradeability(already 2 updates) instead of buying the next firmware released and you can see where the SX is much like the lower cost mods........over time.

Don't get me wrong, I love my ipv mini2, trashed paint job and all. My (2) eVics have served me faithfully for a couple of years now and only cost me $37ea.

Would I do the same with a Provari or even a dna device...........Nope, but I see this mod as a viable product that should offer what I expect to need for the next several years.

I can't say the same for my other mods. I take care of my gear and haven't had anything just Break............but f I need it to I can always hand it to my wife to use. She could break plate glass windows tossing Marshmallows.

Hey I'm all for Not Cutting Corners also. I just don't know where the Dollar Value Corner is For TC Mods?

I too want to get a temp control something before doomsday and I have been looking at that Kangxin Mini for some time now. The one thing that has kept me off buying it is that in the discussions of FT everyone was making fun of that LED "wart" on the top.:) I was waiting for Kangxin to come out with version 2 perhaps, and getting rid of it. Do you find it annoying?

Here is something I posted in Another thread.

Looks about Identical sans the LED.

I'll be Honest. When I first Ordered my Kangxin, I thought the LED was the Stupidest thing I have ever Seen. And planned to De-Solder the LED off the board. And then Fill the Hole in the Top Cap with a plastic Plug.

But after a Couple of Days, I kinda liked the way it LED lights Blue when you press the Fire Button. And I did use the Light once to fill an RTA in the back seat of a car at Night.

:)

And here is something Another Member posted in the Same Thread.

There's another mod out there called a Mini Vapor Flask. I've seen it in one place, in the UK, who have it listed as being by 'SCC'. I have no idea who they are: Vapor Flask Mini Black Temperature Control – ProVapes

VaporFlaskMini2a.jpg

From the specs it would appear to be the standard Rayn board - so same chip as the Kangxin Mini VF. My feeling is that it's simply another, separate clone, from a company having exactly the same idea as Kangxin.

Either that or it's a part clone of the Kangxin :) Without the flashlight bit, which to be fair has hardly been super popular. And different 510. And brass battery caps. And different style buttons... so yeah I think it's probably a separate mod, simply using the same idea for the name (except 'Vapor Flask' instead of 'VF').

For 37 Bucks, I would probably give this a Try.

I wonder if there is any Overhang of an 22mm RTA/RBA like some of the Other iStick APV's?

There's no overhang on the 50W though there is on the 20W which I also have. I think the only thing that is keeping me away from the TC Istick is the fixed battery. I have plenty of 18650s and a good charger. I know it doesn't cost much so it might be a good starting place but when you know that the mod itself is not going to last beyond 200 -300 cycles if that, then it does bother me a little.

Fasttech don't carry the Vapor Flask you linked to earlier and for me personally ordering from the US would double the cost at the very least.

According to the specs, and this photo, it's a little fatter than the original 20W/30W iSticks, at 22.3mm. So it looks like a 22mm tank will fit without an overhang. Looks pretty sweet. Things are moving so fast, a 40W TC mod for $37?

Yeah... I also say that they had a listing for a Battery Only for $30.95

But it is OOS.

Eleaf iStick 40W TC - Battery Only

MVS finally added an OOS notification. Just add your email and you'll get an email when it's in. I also follow MVS on Twitter. Very low noise/signal ratio. They only tweet when there's new stuff in. That's how I found out about this.

Haven't seen much talk about these. Was everyone hoping they would blow up so that they had something to talk about?

I got one a few days ago and overall it seems solid.

Only issue I've had is resistance reading a bit low (.02 below my other mods reading) and temp seems to read low (need to fire at 500+ watts where I use 420-460 on my evic.).

On the plus side it's almost the same size as the 30, charges fast and hits as well as my evic VT once I find the right temp.

Anyone else have one and have any thoughts?

I got one of these last weekend. For the price, it's decent enough. I wanted this to start experimenting with TC.

It is most comparable in size to the 20W iStick. It slightly wider and taller, with the 510 moved more inwards. There is no overhang with a 22mm atomizer, and a very slight overhang with a 23mm atomizer.

Being that is my first TC mod, this is my inexperienced opinion: It is overly aggressive with the wattage, and seems to bounce off of "temp protection" every time I take a vape, no matter the build or temp setting. Not sure if that's really problem though, because it has yet to deliver a dry hit, and it seems to be able to maintain a temperature I'm satisfied with, no matter if it's bouncing off of temp control or not.

My only other gripe is that 510 connection is ever so slightly raised off the top of the mod, so there is a small gap between the mod and tank. Small enough so that you'd have to inspect it to notice.......but I know it's there. ;)

Got two of the iStick TC 40 watt mods from rockymountainvapor a couple days ago. Price was @37.00 but with the code SUMMER15 (25% discount) the device only cost $27.75 with free shipping. They only have grey and silver at present but expect to get other colors very soon. Also got silicone covers from sweet-vapes for $3.95 ea.

Really like the size.....slightly larger than the 30w which I find perfect. Got the TC 40w mainly for the 2600mah capacity. I do not expect to do much Temperature Control vaping. Found my vaping heaven with a subtank mini RBA built to 1.5 ohms on a 30, 40 or 50 watt iStick. The performance of the subtank mini RBA is just outstanding. Can direct lung hit or mouth-to-lung hit and the flavor is the best that I have experienced in 20 months of vaping.

Will be ordering two more when they get the black ones in.

The only negative I found is the display is on the dim side. Kind of like the original iStick 20 w's. Overall, the TC 40 is just perfect for my simple style of vaping.

I known it's there too haha. My subtank mini leaves the tiniest gap, like I could maybe slip a piece of paper under it but it does make my OCD hurt a bit.

When you say jumps out of TC do you mean it goes to wattage mode on you? Does it go back to TC after the puff? I had that issue with my evic vt with my mutation x v3 for a few days but it went away. I don't know if it was my build or something else but it was frustrating.
