long story short....
i smoked for 15 plus years and wanted to quit, tried a disposable from the gas station and decided vaping would definatelly help me to stop smoking,
spent a couple days reading ecig reviews and wanted to order an eversmoke or v2 kit but my bank wont allow debit purchaces from "specialty goods" websites without going to my bank and first asking to have the purchase unblocked....

so i looked around locally and our mall and smokeshops carry the tececig brands... i bought 2 batteries and several boxes of carts.

sofar so good... not smoked a traditional cigarette in a week and not wanting to.

the tececig is decent i guess, battery lasts me a day and each cart about a day and a half...

this is my only ecig ive used and wanting to upgrade to a better unit.... Tececig has a upgraded unit called the phoenix that looks nice and has a lithium bat, and is a three peice design so i could refill my own with whatever juice i want.

tececig also has dozens of flavors but always go back to the menthol...

anyway, i can hardly find any info on the tececigs except from there own website.

all the ecig review sites suggest v2, eversmoke, greensmoke ect...

can anyone shed any light on these tececigs? I want to upgrade but dont know if im wasting money on a mall brand

There are few things more sure than that if you buy a mall e-cig, you will be overspending, even if you get lucky and find a decent one.

This board is chock full of differing advice on a first e-cig. There are as many opinions as you-know-whats.

Personally, I've never heard of the tececigs, but I've got an idea of what it is.

You need to ask yourself some questions. Most importantly, how important is it that your ecig look like an analog?
Do you really, I mean really, need an automatic battery where you don't push a button? Do you need to smoke "hands-free" all the time?

Those are the main 2 things newbies ask for, and they soon find out that they were mistakes (almost all newbies that is).

Forget those review sites. Those are not even close to the best ecigs. Your bank did you a favor. Now you have time to learn about some better alternatives. You still will have to order online, but at least you'll get something decent.

After making all those mistakes and wasting a lot of money, here is my recommendation.

Scratch the automatic battery. It takes about 3 minutes for the button to be second nature. You'll get better cotrol and fewer problems.

Scratch the idea that an ecig should look like a cigarette. You're not smoking anymore, remember? Those batteries don't last and they don't give good vapor production once they get a little wear on them.

Spend some time here. Go to the vendors section. Look at their options with batteries in the 750-1000mah range.
Look for a 510 or KD808 conection. The 510 is slightly more versatile and gives you more options as to attachments. It also is standard on most of the better ecigs. But a lot of folks like the 808 cartos and there are adapters available.

Depending on your budget, skip the eGo, Vgo, Kgo, type sealed battery models and get one with replaceable batteries. The E-Power is like an eGo, but it takes standard replaceable batteries. eGos only last a few months before they flat wear out. They are just big, disposable, sealed batteries. Better than the mall brands, but not that great.

From what I understand, a mall setup can set you back over $100. For that amount, you have a huge variety of options, all of them far better than the mall brands and their overpriced cartomizers.

For a fixed voltage model, you can't go wrong with something like a Silver or Baby Bullet from altsmokes, or a Prodigy or one of the other models that someone is sure to recommend here. Check with the vendors and search for reviews here on ECF about the models that appeal to you.

good luck!! Stay out of the mall.

You mean this site?:

Tececig Phoenix Kit

One opinion: Everything on their site is grossly over priced. You can do much better for much less. The claim that an 850 mAh battery will last "20+ hours of use" is just... wrong. 10 ml's of any rebranded China liquid for $9.95 is more than double what you should be paying for it.

OMG!!!!!

I just looked at that tececig. Saying it's grossly overpriced is an understatement. For that kind of money, you can get a Lavatube complete kit, shipped, and get change back!! For another $25, you can get a Silver Bullet, a battery, charger and some cartos. You can get two eGo/Riva/kGo kits and change back. $15 atomizers? $1/ml juice. They're INSANE!

Stay away from Tececig!!!

I'll echo a lot of what sailorman said, except that I -do- like the eGo, Vgo, Kgo, Riva varieties of ecigs -- they're an affordable upgrade and still have an excellent portability factor, and the batteries are widely available for a reasonable amount of money.

That said -- ditch the automatic, non-button batteries as quickly as you can, no matter what else you do. Many automatic batteries will actually turn on by themselves if you move them too quickly, or if a breeze passes over them, etcetera. Not only does this mean the battery's being worn down while it's not actually in use, but it can destroy your atomizer.

The mall-types are intended to keep people going to pick up their stuff at the mall, where it costs about five times as much as it should. Yes, they're an okay starting point, but quite frankly, move on from those as quickly as you can manage to do so, because otherwise, you're stuck with their overpriced supplies. :)

I don't mean to be nosy or anything, but what's wrong with your bank? I've never heard of such a thing. Is that something you specifically requested to prevent unauthorized transactions? I sure hope so. That's a scary thing if the bank just imposes that on you. Just curious.

OTOH I was just thinking, maybe it'd be best to go to Walmart or somewhere & get a prepaid Visa card for the ceiling amount you intend to spend (including shipping). That way your regular bank account would be secured without your having to sign off on anything. (This sort of thing was discussed in an earlier thread on here this afternoon, in fact.)

First off, that's insane about your bank. Find another one. Preferably a credit union. Most banks are going to dramatically increase their fees soon. Take the candy away from the Banksters.

As for a new PV. If you are ready to spend the kind of money Tececig is getting, you have a lot of options.
Personally, I prefer models with separate batteries. A lot of people recommend the eGo/Riva type. They are economical at first and a definite easy upgrade. But you are limited by their lifespan. Like any battery, they'll start keeping their power for shorter and shorter periods of time, until they die completely. I like them for a backup, but not a main PV.

Look at the Silver Bullet or the Baby Bullet from Altsmoke.com. That's a unit you can bequeath to your grandchildren. There's a lot of info on the altsmoke forum here. The Baby Bullet is what I have. It's a little smaller, but the quality is the same.

If you like to experiment with different voltages, the Tox and Lavatube are on sale. Apollo ecigs has the Lavatube on sale for $60, complete kit. I just got that and I'm very happy with it. Totally Wicked has the Tox on sale for $65. That's another great deal. The Tox has a few more bells and whistles and a nicer readout screen. Both of those are variable voltage. Someone will be along to recommend the Provari. It's an even better variable voltage model, but it costs about 3 times as much, so.....

You'll have to google for the website address for these places cause I don't remember them offhand.

There are a ton of others. Most of the vendors in the ECF vendor list carry good models that will fit your budget and needs.

I suggest looking through them, findining a few you like and check here with the search function to get reviews and info on them. Some models, like the Lavatube, have their own forums and there's a ton of info on those models.

As for menthol, youre going to have to shop around. There's a million of them and they all have their fans and their detractors. Best thing to do is go down the vendor list here and get sample packs from some of the juice vendors. No one can tell you what will taste best for you. We all went through dozens of different flavors before we settled on the ones we liked. All the juice vendors in the list here are reputable and they're all a good starting point. They are also much better quality and cheaper than the ridiculously overpriced juice that Tececig is selling.

If you've been sticking to tobacco type juices, don't. Try the other flavors. You will soon find that you have less and less of a taste for tobacco. When that happens, a whole other world will open up for you and you'll REALLY find out what vaping is all about.

Hi again. Just to give you a "for example" about what's wrong with Tececig you can get a two complete battery - not one - eGo kit at Cignot for $59.50 and even pick two different battery colors if you want, get higher capacity batteries for a small up-charge, even add a third battery to the kit: https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-ego-all.htm Anything above $59.00 is free shipping. They are a great vendor and a great place for newbies to start. I did - and I'm glad I found Cignot.

Cignot may not have the absolute lowest price. But they do sell genuine JoyeTech hardware - not fakes - and it's hard to find a place with higher marks for crazy fast shipping and good customer service. Vicki @ Cignot is even faster at answering any "Help me!!!" questions you may have. (I'm not sure she ever sleeps.) You can find her e-mail address at the web site.

also...any suggestions for a better menthol juice? ive spent days reading and theres so many its just overwhelming...

Oh lord, menthol is a very subjective thing! I like "clean" tasting menthols. Not one's that taste like Wintergreen or candy flavors. On the low end Cignot sells DK NPort which I find is a very straightforward, strong menthol flavor. For something more complex I really like Port Menthol from The Vapor Room. That one has good menthol flavor, but there is also a tobacco flavor in the background as well.

I just figured out what "that" is. They are selling rebranded Boge kits. The "Tececig Phoenix Kit" is a Boge LEA. Their (insane) price? $89.95 Get it anywhere else for what it really is price? $29.99 It's not bad hardware. It's just insanely overpriced at that particular site.

This public service announcement brought to you by Caveat Emptor Productions...

Wow, u guys saved me a ton of cash n problems :)

I went to crystalclearvaping and for the same price as the crap tececig i got the epower kit with resurector carts anf 30ml menthol juice, a a 3.5ml tank, extra carts .... punched for the tank, and a few drip tips, AND NO PROBLEMS WITH MY DEBIT letting me order :)) cant wait.... thanks again and am gratefull i found such a helpful forum!

Tececigs are overpriced, but I can give them a few thumbs up. I didn't pay a penny for my kit, it was a gift. I did buy extra batteries and chargers, and yes I got ripped off! I am not getting rid of my revolutions, and they may continue to be part of my daily routine, but I am moving on once I can decide what I want to try next. Perhaps a kgo, ego, riva, lavatube or maxi roughstack.... The Revolutions will be a great backup.

+1 - If you go with the cheaper "Revolution", the batteries have a lifetime warranty. You can take them in and exchange them if they stop working. I've exchanged several batteries that seemed to not be performing at their best and a few that stopped working. They do seem to try and convince you that the underperforming batteries are fine, but with some arm-twisting they will give in. Now that I am accustomed to using an unsealed automatic battery such as the "Revolution", I think it's safe to say that the under-performing batteries were likely just dirty. Now that I know how to properly maintain them, I haven't had to exchange any. The 2 batteries that stopped working altogether were both completely my fault. One got dropped in the toilet, and the other 1 was from me playing around when I found out the plunger (center of battery) moved. While using a safety-pin to raise the plunger back up is common maintenance, be careful not to pry it all the way out because the wire connecting to it is very short (lesson learned). I didn't tell Tececigs that I was at fault, but they didn't ask either.

+1 Since tececigs has a physical retail location, I was able to talk to someone when I had problems. They taught me how to properly maintain and clean my battery. Napkins and safety-pins are my new best friend. They taught me how to properly fill my cartomizers and prepare them for use.

+1 Compared to local alternatives, they are the best around (at least here). While cigarette outlets are starting to carry more e-cig supplies, their choices are limited and many are one-time use and they do not carry any liquids to refill. The cig outlets also do not know their product, so asking questions won't yield valid answers. My first e-cig was a disposable type, and while it was good, I couldn't justify the price compared to analogs. Months later I was gifted the tececig revolution and that's what got me off the analogs for good.

+1 Tececig liquids taste great (well some of them). I found a few flavors I didn't like, but it was not because they lacked flavor. They are all very flavorful, but everyone has different tastes. My personal favorites are menthol and green mint. Green mint has a menthol taste + a doublemint taste, it rocks my world. I recently tried Madvapes spearmint hoping for a comparable taste, but I either got a bad batch or maybe it needs to be vaped at a different voltage. the madvapes spearmint liquid is relatively flavorless on my revolution. Madvapes Kick A** Caramel was very flavorful, but not my cup of tea. $10.00 for 10ml at tececigs is very overpriced though, and I plan to try a few other vendors to find a cheaper green mint. Tececigs had 50% off liquids for all of February, so I stocked up a little.

+1 Since Tececigs is local, I can get liquid without having to wait for it to be shipped. While I will eventually find a good internet based supplier for liquid, and while I do plan to always have enough liquid on-hand, it is great that I can get liquid locally if I am in a bind.

Even with the positives, I am still looking to move on to something else. With the lifetime warranty on the battery, tececigs will probably remain a part of my life. I just don't intend to give them anymore of my money!

I sure hope you didn't pay that price for it. That's such a rip off. I almost bought an ecig at the mall too but thought it was too expensive too. Luckily found the internet before I placed my order. If you bought that does it happen to have a 30 day guarantee? Most likely not but thought I'd ask. I agree go with a KGO or if you don't mind a mod the Lavatube is awesome and $60 for the whole kit. I like it best and I have had a 510 that looks like a cigarette, an Ego and a lavatube as well as a VV box mod and highly recommend the last 3. Lac=vatube being the best and a great price.
